photo mode would be more difficult. I used video mode and just left it running for five minutes. Then i edited out the parts with no lightning.

Which video editing program did you use if you don't mind asking and how much did you slow it down?

@captjoe06 I used Coral X3 to edit and I cut out the parts when there was no lightning and slowed down some of the lightning strikes by 50 to 100%.

What video mode/setting did you use to enable this kind of capture? Im shopping for a camera and its between this Sony and the Nikon S9100.

@MrBigglessworth I think i used the fireworks mode. I highly recommended the HX9V camera. I have been a canon guy for years and years. Then i got the Sony HX5V and I liked it so much I got the HX9V. I bought the camera or the video. Its just like having a camcorder. The image stabilization is the best i have ever used. The photos are nice too.

@riversdirect Thanks for your response. Yeah everytime I compare the Sony Vs Nikon the Sony is always coming out on top. Im probably going to buy it this Friday. Any particular brand of SD card you recommend? According to my calculations any class 4 card should do. I wanted a camera to replace my 7 year old 5mp Panny.

@MrBigglessworth Yeah Im super happy with my HX9V. I have always wanted a DSLR though so Im probably going to buy the NEX-7 in a month or so. I will use both because you need one compact and one big camera. I use a sandisk sd card from amazon. I have had issues in the past with some ultra cheap cards not working on other cameras so I just pay the 2 or 3 dollars more for a name brand.

@MrBigglessworth The jerkyness is caused from the editing becuase i took out the parts where there wasn't lightning.
