  • I could never understand how Blackhawk fans felt Chelios was so tough, and feared by the opposition; he truly was a cheap-shot artist whom picked on guys like Fedorov.

I was at the old Chicago Stadium when Gallant put another good beat-down on Cheli; needless to say I wasn't very popular while wearing my Red Wings jersey...Good times though!

  • @FMichael1970 Chelios is one of the greatest d-men to ever play the game. Gallant is / was a cheap, dirty bitch his whole career.....much like Maltby, McCarty and Burr. Detroit SUCKS !

  • @fabrasham Okay tiger - whatever you say.

  • @FMichael1970 Oops I sounded a bit juvenile didn't I? I just wanted to say that I really don't like the Redwings(for many reasons).....just as much as I don't like the Green Bay Packers actually. The Redwings were more fun when Corrado Micalef was in net ha ha ha. I guess I can't blanket statement Detroit because two of my favorite bands are The Junk Monkeys and The Holy Cows :)

  • @fabrasham No harm - no foul.

  • @FMichael1970 ..hey Moron, Chelios was one of the best Defense men all time, 2 time Norris award winner and played in the NHL well into his 40's. He was not a "tough guy" feared by the opposition as he rarely fought. You typically don't have your best players in the penalty box, you get more out of them on the ice...

  • @rjst09 No he didn't fight much - unless it was Fedorov, Propp, or Robitaille whom he knew he could take...Just an FYI - Chelios averaged well over 100 pim per season throughout his career (1992/1993 he spent 282 min in the box) so he's very familiar with it's confines...Might want to do a little research before you spout off.

  • @FMichael1970 ...Chelios' penalty minutes were rarely fighting majors, do the math before you spout off. ...Red Wings fans these days... Man, still stuck in the past when their team won Cups. My favorite former Red Wing is Stevie Y and I'm glad he no longer is affiliated with the Red Wings organization in any way, Go Bolts.

  • @rjst09 I never claimed Chelios was a fighter; in fact most of those pim were from his usual assortment of "cheap shots" (as said by shmorpie in his post atop of the page)...As for Stanley Cups - I'm very happy with the 4 my beloved Detroit Red Wings have won since the 1997/1998 season; our most recent just a few years ago...Yzerman is a class act, and he learned alot from the Red Wings franchise - a class act from the owners on down...I too wish Stevie Y all the best with his new role in Tampa.

  • @rjst09 Oh - and as for "spouting off"...Who's the one here calling the other a "moron" in their opening reply?

  • A few stright shots for the man they used to call "Cheap Shot Chelios"! Way to go Gallant!
