Many have remarked how, curiously, compositions of this ilk, in which each parameter of the music is so thoroughly controlled, resembles aleatoric compositions in their overal effect. Some have therefore disregarded the value of the organizing principles of the former on the grounds that its effects are equal to the complete lack of such principles of the latter. But perhaps their sumilarity owes itself to the practise, common in either case, of dividing music into discrete parameters.
Thank you for the annotations; they are extremely informative & interesting! This is one of my personal favorite Boulez works, and I'm very sorry that he's withdrawn it -- I think it's exceptional.

Is there any recording of this work in its original form? I mean the one with 4ter tones and 49 instruments?

My least favourite Boulez. It's more a laboratory experiment than an "Ouvre". Of course, good annotations.
