This challenge is known for it's difficulty because of frame roundoff error. The game CAN round off a ONE FRAME PUSH OF YOUR TRIGGER to represent two shots, VERY obvious when he goes down to 5+5 shots left.
I'm not sure if it's the same for the N64 version (i never bothered with these back then) but on the xbox version,if you listen to the "bark" of the gunshot,it goes 5 times. so if you count "one two three four five" that's 10 rounds.

I love this gun. Imho its the best of the whole game. Also, I always stop at 1 bullet left in the magazine after a firefight...Dunno why. :)
