Thanks for posting this video of how bad things are on the West coast as far as jobs are concerned. I have been out of work 1 1/2 years when the company I worked for left Oregon and went to a city wth a lower minimum wage. In Oregon in a month wages will go up another 20 cents and more companies will move to one of the 6 states that does not have to pay federal minimum wage. I hate what has happened to this state and the REAl unemployment rate here is 24% at least.

I live in Portland and there are no jobs here. The REAL unemployment rate here is 35-65% or more. If they would really tell you how bad it really is then people would really know about the jobs situation. They are trying to eliminate the population through this job elimination. One week of waiting elapses, then the beautiful State checks start coming every two weeks.

Yep... I've been looking for a job for 11 months now. I have a list of places I've applied at since January. It's over two whole pages long. This is getting very frustrating. My unemployment benefits have also run out months ago. I had to ride my bike for over 10 miles from Pomona to Rancho Cucamonga to the Inland Office of Appeals for a hearing, to try and get money flowing in again. It took me about 2 1/2 hours of constant dialing to get through last summer. It's worse now. There was a snag with my check that should have come 2 weeks ago, I have to wait for an appointment to get things started again. First available appt. is Dec 14th. It will probably take 10 days to get a check from that point. That means no income for 5-6 weeks!

Hmmm... what else can I sell around the house..... I have a college degree, a good work history, I've even considered pan handling.

My friend has extensions equaling about a year. Our State has high unemployment, so she's can expect another 46 weeks in extended benefits. My brother in law loaded up on overtime before being fired. His unemployment check now is based on his regular + OT pay! Both are receiving checks almost or equal to their take home when they were working, - without the expenses. Stop complaining. My "job" when I was unemployed was to stay on the phone 'til I got thru. AND, I never got extensions.

3) get a year food supply

4) buy a couple of guns

5) secure your house/get a video security system

I've found that if I want to speak to someone in the unemployment office, I have to call the office around a certain time during the day or wind up having to wait the next day to speak to anyone.
