The campsite was pretty cool. We were within walking distance of all the restaurants and bars in town. It definitely added to the atmosphere for us, but the concert was so amazing that it's hard to say you really missed out on anything. (Being at the concert was the real experience.)

As far as the alcohol, they weren't checking coolers or patrolling the entrances. So people came and went with their own alcohol at will.

@andrew. How was the camp site? I heard they were charging for alcohol so we ended up staying in Ft Davis. I still can't put into words how awesome that show was!

@Paul I might not be much help... We were allowed to camp at the Marfa site. So we went to the front of the stage five minutes before the regular admission ticket-holders were allowed in.
