yeah the owner might think this is funny but speaking from experience this is going to end two ways ,either the dog bites a couple of fingers off and she gets sued for a six figure sum or the mailman leaves the post half way through the box ,holds on to it tightly and lets the dog destroy it,also known as shredding the mail.

I had a route with a dog that did this and I did exactly what green was saying: held the mail and watched it slam from side to side before I let go. That's the kind of house you drop the parcel, ring the bell and split before you get an ankle tenderized. lol

this happen to me alot on my route. It is funny when the owners are screaming at their dogs NOOOOO stop ! Knowing I am near because the dog waits for me, the owners still lets the dog grab the mail. BUT it is good to see how the other side of the door is really like.

I AM a mailman...the dog is cute...the owner is an idiot. When the carrier doesn't know the dog is there, the dog yanks the mail and the carrier's fingers get slammed into the mail slot. Thanks for being one of the stupid pet owners who think it's all a joke. C'mon over to my house and play with my pit bull sometime...so I can laugh at you getting bit.

We keep the mail slot blocked most of the time (otherwise we would never get any of our mail!). But actually, we know our mailman and he gets a huge kick out of Quinton. Quinton is completely all bark and no bite.

I'm a mail carrier and there's a dog that does this on my route. I only have to put the mail like a quarter in and the dog grabs it and rips it to shreds. It's seriously the highlite of my day.
