I was morely amazed when dx 10 first came out and they had the demo with the smoke in the box, HDR and shadows are cool, yeah. But i wanna see more hardcore graphics like smoke and affects, not high polygons and tons of light and shadow, any card can handle that with large enough proccesor and shaderclock.

@Vleesball wish this was entirely true (because PC does rock) but the price for the extra detail in games is not very cheap for most average gamers and most dont know how to maintain a PC anyways. The developers put PC gaming at the bottom of the list when it comes to a new release. they just dont want to take alot of time to code for all the varieties of hardware and features. So even high machines run slow on some crappy coded games (GTA 4)

Crappily coded games will cause lag, regardless of the systems specs; console devs generally just drop down the level of detail so that the user will not experience any lag. And no, not all devs put the PC gamers at the bottom. Valve generally aims to satisfy its PC gamer base, and has even recently made Steam and several of their games available on the Mac. You are right though, PC gaming can get VERY expensive depending on what you want/
