I honestly have no idea how come everybody is being so disrespectful, especially on a video like this. My fiance and his squad would would sing this while marching while in Basic, and I'm sure they still do it in tech. It's lyrics are about a woman who misses her soldier, and then when he ends up coming home, it's in a coffin. Grow up people, please. The more bawdy version used when I was in was a bastardization of the original which was beautiful, sentimental and if I were a trooper out in the Dakota Territory, would have made me feel a whole lot better about being away from a woman I loved and that $13 a month! The signs read "Open under new management". The 4th Cav operated at the mouth of Ho Chi Minh trail around Tay Ninh province. I was there 67-68 during the Tet Offensive. Welcome home! Hi Jim I know the 3/4 Cavalry well from chasing VC and PAVN in the Field and dodging the MPs on R&R or more precisely I&I. We had so much Cavalry in Vietnam that some one should have massed us and ordered us to ""Form a flying colum to go to Hanoi free the American prisoners there cut your to the sea at Haipong."
