  • USAF far far away.

  • Around the block, she pushed the baby carragie

She pushed it in th marely month of May!

And if you asked why the heck shoe wore it

she wore it for her soldier who was far, far away

    Far away

    Far away

  • eeh,Pappy Ford and The Duke's version is better.

  • Upon her head, she wears a yellow ribbon.

She wear yellow, in the mary month of May.

And if you ask her, for what the hack she wears it.

She wears for the fighter, who wear a red Beret. (Usually Elite force, English Paras, Israeli Paras, Singapore Commandos & Special force)

    We love this song

  • I honestly have no idea how come everybody is being so disrespectful, especially on a video like this. My fiance and his squad would would sing this while marching while in Basic, and I'm sure they still do it in tech. It's lyrics are about a woman who misses her soldier, and then when he ends up coming home, it's in a coffin. Grow up people, please. You may not agree with what the nation is doing, but don't be rude to the men and women protecting us and our rights.

  • @darkdemikat

lol i dont know maybe thats the army version.. in the marines he comes home but it has to do with her dad has a shotgun waiting for him lol

  • For some reason ( don't ask why) this song makes me think of Disneyland

  • every Mothers son, knows where this lies in her heart.

  • This is hardly a march, isn't if from the Wayne movie, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon?

  • @VictorLepanto Nope, coming from a musical standpoint, this almost screams march.

  • Has nothing to do with a promiscuous woman! No wonder America is Falling! If you don't like it go to Communist Washington!

  • Ahh. Coastie boot... Good times!

  • Several years ago I had the honor of DJ'ing the wedding reception of a young armor officer. I was pleased that he carried on an old Army tradition among cavalrymen of having me play the song especially for his bride. I'm afraid that, like many other fine traditions, are dying out though.

  • @Ligalizitnow Russia is rotten! Greeetings from USA! God bless America!

  • @SpaceCowboy641: While I may be American, I completely disagree with you Russia is not rotten. It's rude and lacks support or a real arguement. Russia has accomplished much good in its history, even with some bad. We both have our extreme faults, and they're extremely strong people who also have idiots like that one. We do too, many. Finally accepting each others faults and working together will benefit all. Please don't go insulting other countries because of 1 prick, and going to his level.

  • Sick git video

  • Can anyone tell me why the US battle hymns are always so jolly?

  • @slobhinav

Probably because most of them started as drinking songs.

  • @slobhinav its better to focus on that nice jolly tune rather than the war, famine, death, etc. Why you think all the music from the renaissance is so upbeat when there was famine, disease and such? to keep your mind off the hell you're in and give you hope. if u need a clearer definition of why, then just ask a history teacher.

  • @romanticwerewolf even though the renaissance weren't the best times to live in, i know for a fact that the middle ages beforehand were much worse. So why is it the music of that time does not match your theory?

  • @oci7536 The local bard in the tavern doesnt always reach the scribes of kings now does he? Just ask one of your local garage bands made of hopeful teenagers who probably wont get past posting thier music on youtube just for the recognition. Not everything is written in a book.

  • @slobhinav There are all in fact, symbolic of the universal truth. I know the answer is cryptic, but if you ever fully understand it, you'll feel the joy that goes with.

  • @slobhinav Were an upbeat can-do bunch of folks

  • @slobhinav no because we know we could die and wouldn't mind going out to something up beat.

  • @wiliesan Thats good I like that.

  • @slobhinav Because the win almost every war! God bless America!

  • @SpaceCowboy641 Vietnam?

  • @MaaToo91 I wrote "almost" .,..

  • @slobhinav Cause we have fun killing retards.

  • it kinda reminds me of the theme for one of the best movies of all time.....stripes

  • She said "It's for the Accies, and they're gonna win the league!"

  • This song is a lament. It tells the story of so many soldiers on the frontier who had to be away from the women they loved and how they still thought about them. The more bawdy version used when I was in was a bastardization of the original which was beautiful, sentimental and if I were a trooper out in the Dakota Territory, would have made me feel a whole lot better about being away from a woman I loved and that $13 a month! Scouts forward! MOS 19D20

  • @ZeitgeistWI lol look, the little liar knows how to google MOS's. you're no cav scout, shut the hell up.

  • it's not a Anthem

  • We're the famous Arsenal and we're going wembleyyyyy

  • With all the different versions...its safe to say this woman was a slut.

  • @boscogump your an a----

  • @boscogump YEAH SLUTS!

  • @boscogump not nessasarily it could be about different women. It is just saying that a woman is wearing a ribbon for the man she loves who is away.

  • @unicorngirl1988 now tell bosco why she wore a (yellow) ribbon, cause that is the color of the u s cav. scouts post

  • @bgstarider this is true. the first time I ever heard this song was in the movie "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" with John Wayne. It was a U.S. Calvery movie. I still believe that it could be about different women who have the men they love away at war.

  • @unicorngirl1988 i always heard it as a marching cadence, then randomly caught the movie on tv...so many variatons exist

  • @bgstarider also, in modern times you can see yellow ribbons representing the military deployed.

  • @boscogump not nessasarily it could be about different women. It is just saying that a woman is wearing a ribbon for the man she loves who is away. so to call her a slut isn't really fair.

  • @boscogump that is plain out rude

  • @boscogump you are disrespectin the armed forces

  • @boscogump a whore w(o)ring a yellow ribbon ?????

  • one of my uncles Servered in Vietnam and my Naval Intructor did as well and you tell you the truth they both said is was crazy as hell

  • Lest we forget, here's to the men of the of the 1st Cavalry Division and the 8th Cavalry Regiment who fought in the BAttle of Unsan in Korea on 1 & 2 November 1950.

  • well the Navy has the MArines(since they can't walk on water) and the Army has the CALVARY!! Go Armor CAV, go 11th Black Horse!! Remember it was the Calvary always to the rescue.

  • awsome march!

  • For the untutored Marines those prisoners included the remnants of the 4th Marines who surrendered at Corregidor at about 1:30 p.m. on May 6, 1942. Remember the Marines made their reputation at Battle of Belleau Wood when The commander of the Marine Brigade, Army Gen. James Harbord, countermanding a French order to dig trenches further to the rear, ordered the Marines to "hold where they stand". Adult leadership sure helps!!

  • They keep the Cavalry around in case someone has to order what General Douglas MacArthur did"Form a flying colum to go to Manila, free the Allied prisoners at Saint Thomas University; take Malacanan Palace and the Legislative building." Advancing through one hundred miles of Japanese held territory, the First Cavalry Division arrived in Manila where they liberated over 3,600 allied prisoners at St. Thomas University.

  • 3rd Squadron 4th U.S. Calvary....eat it, you jealous jarhead...

  • The Arm of Service color for the Cavalry is Yellow! Every time I have to go into MCB Quantico I go in with either "Garry Owen", "Black Horse Tankers" or "She wore a Yellow Ribbon" blaring from my car stereo so that the young Marine will learn what the Vietnam Marines learned "KheSan Route 9 opened courtesy 2nd 7th Cavalry Garry Owen" The 1st Team The First Air Cavalry Division.

  • Thanks for your response. I'm really familiar w/ the 1st air cav in Nam. The funniest thing I know of them is when they made the signs after they took over Kse Sanh from the Marines. The signs read "Open under new management". The 4th Cav operated at the mouth of Ho Chi Minh trail around Tay Ninh province. I was there 67-68 during the Tet Offensive. Welcome home! Jim (p.s.-this isn't my YouTube acct., I'm just having fun w/ it)

  • Hi Jim I know the 3/4 Cavalry well from chasing VC and PAVN in the Field and dodging the MPs on R&R or more precisely I&I. We had so much Cavalry in Vietnam that some one should have massed us and ordered us to ""Form a flying colum to go to Hanoi free the American prisoners there cut your to the sea at Haipong." That would have scared a lot of people U.S. Cavalry doing another March to the Sea. Welcome home Brother. We'll catch up with our friends at the Fiddler's Green. Ray
