I'm 5'3" and weigh 136 lbs - the doctors (and my mom, ugh!) consider that "fat". The proper weight for me is actually a bag of bones (114 lbs.). At that weight, my immune system is compromised and I CAN'T STAY WARM. There's a reason I have a pudged out stomach!

I think the idea of this video is to combat against the illusion of being super skinny is the only way to look, in which it is not. If you notice briefly in the video at 0:26, the woman is 5'9". A size 0 is fine for a small-framed, petite woman under 5'3' but not for a woman who is almost 6 ft. tall.

@gcandle I agree. I used to eat double-sized meals to try to get over 120lbs (when I was in the Army). It's never happened. I got harassed all the time because they thought 120 was too small for a 5'4 woman. I think people need to stop pushing their standards on others, no matter WHAT those standards ARE. 120lbs for my height is NOT underweight.
@thestarcraftgirl - I was 120 and 5'2" in the Army and told to "stop eating" and was told I was "30lbs overweight!" The reality is a person's size is no one else's business but their own. A person's size is made up of bone, muscle, fat and fluid yet it has become (surprise, just for women and girls, of course!) an "issue" worthy of debate. When are women going to be taken for what they can do and who they are and what they have to offer rather than for their looks. It is heartbreaking.

It is NOT healthy to be out of breath and wobbling everywhere. It is not healthy to die from heart disease because your organs are covered in a layer of deep fat tissue. Anorexia is a deblitating disease and not something to be joked about.

@DanniDotNet Not hyprocritical if some of us haven't even made fun of or put down regular people. I'm like size 2 or 3 and do you know how much of a freak I feel like at my high school? I have never had a guy look at me or check me out. I barely have any guy friends either. All my friends are curvy, my bestfriend has athletic curves and gets hit on all the time. She complains about it all the time but I wish I had that much flattery in my life. She is so lucky. :/

@hawk24 - Unfortunately, we used to have those on TV but they've mysteriously gone away. I hate to say this but one does have to wonder about the correlation with corporate America and the rise of McDonald's and places like that and this whole "fat acceptance" movement. Back in the 70s there were public service announcements about getting out in the sunshine with your family and exercising and watching what you eat. Now, people are greedy and selfish and don't care about others. Fat is ill.

This drives me insane. Being a size zero does not equate having an eating disorder. I am a size 0 and I'm 5'4". I have been the same weight since I stopped growing in 9th grade, and I eat plenty. I have some pants from back then that are a size 3. Sizes are shrinking to make the big girls feel better about themselves. Not my fault.

I hate how they portray girls with eating disorders on the television as stupid airheads.
As someone with first hand experience of an eating disorder that really pisses me off.
I wish they would do these "anti size 0" ads differently.
Different wording would be a good start ¬_¬
Size 0 doesn't automatically mean eating disorder.

I agree. Real anorexics are rarely the shallow, weight obsessed, "Oh my gawd, I'm like so totally fat", valley girl types that seem to be the stereotype. There is a difference between weight obsessed and a real eating disorder. Most anorexics are not shallow and vain. I also hate how the ad equates size 0 to an eating disorder.

Yes, it's true that if a person feels that they need help they should get help. I wasn't trying to debate who has an eating disorder and who doesn't. I just hate the message that this ad sends out. That if a woman is a size 0, it automatically means she has a serious problem and is also dumb and narcissistic.

I think the idea of this video is to combat against the illusion of being super skinny is the only way to look, in which it is not. If you notice briefly in the video at 0:26, the woman is 5'9". A size 0 is fine for a small-framed, petite woman under 5'3' but not for a woman who is almost 6 ft. tall.

OMFG some people are so stupid. They aren't bagging out all girls who are size 0, what they're saying is that instead of aiming to be size 0, aim to live a healthy lifestyle instead. For those girls who are naturally size 0 and still eat healthy foods from all necessary food groups then that's fine, this is not targeted at you. Honestly, all the defensiveness is so misplaced! Try understanding this from their perspective before shutting it down.

I think it's meant to be anti-starving, not anti-thin. Starving makes a woman's breasts shrink and it has a really terrible effect on brain function.

@gcandle I agree. I used to eat double-sized meals to try to get over 120lbs (when I was in the Army). It's never happened. I got harassed all the time because they thought 120 was too small for a 5'4 woman. I think people need to stop pushing their standards on others, no matter WHAT those standards ARE. 120lbs for my height is NOT underweight.

@thestarcraftgirl - I was 120 and 5'2" in the Army and told to "stop eating" and was told I was "30lbs overweight!" The reality is a person's size is no one else's business but their own. A person's size is made up of bone, muscle, fat and fluid yet it has become (surprise, just for women and girls, of course!) an "issue" worthy of debate. When are women going to be taken for what they can do and who they are and what they have to offer rather than for their looks. It is heartbreaking.

this is basically saying if you STARVE yourself to be a size zero, it is bad. and that not everyone NEEDS to be that small. but it is different if you are just naturally petite. some people just have different matabolisms and are structured to be smaller.

People with eating disorders aren't stupid. They should be helped and loved and healed. But the traffic goes two ways; you heal the broken, but you also try and prevent people who are still whole from breaking. Don't hate the attempt to help.
People who self harm break my heart. I've had friends with eating disorders. I felt so powerless I was pissed off. How are you supposed to love someone who hates herself more than they appreciate your attempt at love? It's so heartbreaking.
