  • i went to see it with my daughter when it first came out i am mixed and the only thing i didnt like was the voodoo man and alot of little stereotypes in there about the black community ...im not mad at anyone for having an opinion about the movie and how it made them feel but the overly racist "princess in africa w/ aids " comments needs to stop that had to have been a very ignorant WHITE person to even say something so fucking idiotic

  • I was excited about the name change. My name is Tiana and i'm obsessed with Disney so it made me even more excited about a black princess. I also think Tiana is a more common name because I don't even know anyone named Maddy

  • well i think its kinda stupid, first of if she where an African princess, everyone around her would be starving and have AIDS. secondly if she wore European style dress like that someone in her military would form a junta and hack her up with machetes and convert the nation to Islam. You know blacks would be all offended if Disney made a cartoon with a white princess presiding over Africa, but not this cartoon. This cartoon speaks to the world black community of its lack of western royalty. Lol

  • @grandmabeatinstick

why you have to bring starving and AIDs in Africa, racist?

  • I get so pissed off when people complain to Disney over stupid shit. I'm black, I wouldn't be offended if her name was Maddy, I don't like the name, but whatever. The title would have worked just fine since she became a princess while she was a frog. I wish people wouldn't make a big to do about nothing. I love Disney, I wish people would stop talking shit about them.

  • @Jen321able

ironic. I'm black and I hate the movie but not because the name.

  • @Dramactica

I think the movie is stupid and another Diseny BS. Can they write their own material.

  • @Dramactica How is it ironic?

  • No matter what you do, SOMEONE is ALWAYS going to question it/be disappointed/say it's wrong or not good, you can't please everyone. Disney did their best. I don't see anything wrong. People need to stop pointing out faults in every single thing ever done.

  • um.. this video is either absolute crap or a masterpiece

  • Trust, it's not a black thing, it's an American thing. They're never happy with anything and feel the need to complain. Anyway, Tiana is more "black" than Maddy anyway. Maddy is short for Madeline, the way I've always heard. The movie was great and it gave us a taste of classic Disney that was so desperately needed.

  • i think ppl r just bored and so they start controversies. it's just a movie, ppl gotta think wut they think, u can't contain them. but of course, stupid ppl take things way outta line....

  • jjferrit has a point. In my opinion, it would've be too similar to Cinderella--and possibly Snow White. Maddy was a great name for Tiana; if anything, the name Tiana is more "stereotypical," for lack of a better term, than Maddy; a shortened version of the French name, Madeline.

I really did like The Princess and the Frog, but because of the media breathing down Disney's neck every step of the way (BET, especially), it wasn't the movie that it could've been.

  • i don't think there'd be anything wrong with her being a chambermaid or called maddy, that'd essentially be a cinderella remake.

  • no offense but i'm black and black people sterotype black people. the statement 'Being black' or 'ur not black enough' is justifies that. I wish we stop complaining and being lazy and do something about it. Like Martin Luther King Jr.

  • @cloudsurfer73

King....he's overrated. Malcolm X is the real thing.

  • also, her prince doesn't look like the average black guy. but you saw his parents, they could have french or indian in their family. isn't mixed race blacks a typical community in the south too? not all black people look the same. white people notice that as much as we do. and as far as the story, the princess and the frog was a random thing. it's a story a lot of people know but disney hadn't done yet. and kids like movies with talking animals. this was a cute movie. lets just appreciate that.

  • speaking as a black woman, i don't see what the big deal is. everytime a white production does a story based on black characters, it's as if the angry black people committee has a meeting to decide which whiney statements to release. tiana is an identifiable modern name for a black woman. and it's pretty. she's a waitress saving up to start her own business. also identifiable for people (not just blacks).

  • My name is maddy D:

  • @wildheartlila Your parents must be RACIST! lol

  • @wildheartlila Poor thing. :(

  • What's with black people, black people is beautiful deep inside their purist heart make those racist people dark but I know that there is nothing wrong with that black princess. And she sings very well....

  • Racism. Its the new funny.

  • clearly hes puerto rican. no but seriously lol this movie is just too legit

  • I'm black and I wished her name stayed Maddy. I don't mind her having an interracial relationship (Pocahontas anyone) but I would love to see a black prince some time in the future of Disney installments. I wished she remained a chamber maid too: I wonder if any of the people who claimed that it was racist ever thought about that? What? She's a chambermaid who rises to new fortune: it's a formula Disney has worked with for YEARS.

  • @kasumi421 I agree with pretty much all what you said, in most Disney stories, the female was working unerneath someone, and through strength and love, she came out on top, but at the same time, this, in my opinion, an African-American princess was long over-due so this was quite fragile ground, so she shares the same life as Sleeping Beauty in a way, starting their life out as royalty :)

  • are they serious? it´s ok to be white and be a chambermaid named maddy, but not black? oh come on...aren´t they getting a bit overboard with this racism thing?

  • people are racist...

  • @carmenrachel01 well maybe they didn't want to base a storyline around someone's race. why? because treating someone differently because of the color of their skin WOULD BE RACIST. everyone is overthinking this too much. why would they have to make all of these changes to accomodate a black princess when the whole point is that being black doesn't make her any different, she's a person. damn people love to find things to complain about.

  • Tell me why ALL the other female leads in Disney movies have a prince of the corresponding race except TIANA! Why!? If they want to argue that interracial is the new "in" then why did the latest princess "Repunzel" from tangled not have a non white prince? It would have been better if they had never made a black princess at all! They could have done a story on the Queen of Sheba or some true african princess, It was a very bad story choice and they should know better than that!

  • @carmenrachel01 true. since the princess and the frog is a german story she should have been white...they can do sheherazade if they want to have a black princess...

  • It was no Lion King or Beauty and the Beast but it was okay. People don't flock to see these type of Disney movies anymore, its all about the digital stuff. I wish they would've done one that took place in Africa when they had kings and queens and no Lion King Does not count lol

  • I think this is bahls

  • I don't understand why people are complaining about how the white people are at the front of the bus, at that time, surely that DID happen? The people trying to prevent movies like this are preventing children from knowing their history. This movie is about a young black girl OVERCOMING all these things, so I don't know what the problem is.

  • Why are we even talking about her race? Wasnt she green most the movie anyway?

  • Beautiful film. Great message.

  • So now black people aren't allowed to be named Maddy or have low wage jobs?

  • what do i think? i think that you're being overly sensitive.so what if she's supposed to be cast as a chambermaid?CINDERELLA WAS ALSO A MAID REMEMBER?!but if tiana had been cast as a chambermaid, she'd be far better off than cinderella.the latter was practically a SLAVE to her stepsisters and stepmother. she'd be far worse than tiana. the mulan film also showed gender discrimination at first but nobody complained. and what the hell is wrong with the name maddy? its a cute name in my opinion.

  • Sheesh, I don't care if she was named Maddy or Jemima. It still would have been a wonderful film. People these days are just too bloody sensitive and have no real common sense.

  • um... what was that song called? its from the beauty and the beast but do you know what its called?

  • @madiemooo it´s the prolouge. and it´s called: prologue ;)

  • this was a complete wast of time and energy, you're an idiot. This movie was great

  • this was a complete wast of time and energy, you're an idiot. This movie was great

  • Beauty and the Beast music.

  • well there are alot of sensitive ppl. i know because everyone acts as if complaining about disney is something new and it's not i have had the pleasure if you wanna call it that of watching the music video "Drums of war" from the pocahontas film here on you tube. neither whites or natives liked it because of what the other side said in the verses. you shouldn't have to start a sentence by declaring your race and apologizing now that's sensitive, you like the movie or you don't.

  • i did like the movie but it doesn't mean you can't question things. the pocahontas film did make alot of native americans and whites angry because of their protrayal in the film, and if you don't believe me just look it up on youtube the pocahantas movie and read the comments. maybe all americans are sensitive about their history in this country black white or other.

  • Cinderella was white and she was a maid, so what is the big deal?

  • this is stupid, its just a name that fits. and not to be racist either or anything, but why dont people complain when they name a white character mike and make him some sort of skater or something, or another guy named JOHN and put him in a mcdonalds, i mean shouldnt that be considered racist too, a typical white name for a white character who everyone thinks is a skater or works at a fast food joint

  • @jason854656 yeah but it's done by white people. so are you calling yourself racist?

  • @cloudsurfer73 That doesnt matter the name just fits, so i suppose the wayans bros are racist when naming white characters cindy ? no of course theyre not it just fits

  • hmm i don't know for that, but i know that is one of the most impressive Disney's toons i have ever seen ,because of story ,music and decribed atmosphere of American South

  • ok not all disney princesses and girls are white mulan is asian pocohantas is an indian esmerelda is a french gypsie ariel is a mermaid jasmines arabian Princess Kida from atlantis is from well atlantis megera is greek maid marien is a fox etc.. yes there are a few white disney girls but big whoop..ppl from china or pars dont complain about there only bein a few disney characters from there and anastasia is russian its just a race and disney is mostly girls do ppl say disney is sexist too? no

  • What the HECK is gonna happen with all these racist people, if Disney ever makes a MEXICAN princess? And why not? They can make whatever they want, and if you don't like it, DON'T go see it. Plain and simple. I liked Princess and the Frog, and I wouldn't have thought it was Racist if she was a Maid. In Mulan they referenced that she'd die if she broke the law. And what about Pocahontas? The English destroying the Natives land. Even Aladdin, being middle eastern. People are NEVER gonna be happy..

  • You are exactly right. It's Walt Disney POLITICS and POLITICS has NO PLACE in the Wonderful World of Disney!

  • The reason why Disney decided to star a black princess as the main character was just to be able to carry a shirt that says: "Look, our main character is black, so we're not racist!". This happens a lot in Hollywood, out of the fear of being labeled as racist for not including ethnic characters.

This may sound incredibly stupid (because it is), but it happens. Lando in "The Empire Strikes Back", for example?

  • why must people complain and cry just because there is a black princess. honestly who cares. its all because disney wants to fulfill every audience's wishes and empty their wallets as well

  • I don't see what's racist about making her a chamber maid. Any race could be a chamber maid.

It's about the plot and the story- not the skin colour of the main character.

  • the white princess was shown to be stupid but that wasnt racist. and the prince was a black too. so why does it matter

  • @bullyboo1 Actually, they confirmed that the prince ISNT black when the movie came out. And Charolette wasnt dumb, i liked her. She was just optimistic, cheerful, outgoing, selfless, generous, and a major prom queen...that doesnt equal stupid.

  • omg this the bad comentaries, and the "controversy" that Disney make, it's a big LIE! how do u think that Disneys wants to appear like: "the bad traditional Disney"??.. please, think before talking

  • @AplG7Rocks I think that's silly. Why can't you have a role model that's from a different race than you are? I admire plenty of people who were different races and nationalities from me. Even different genders. And I've seen little girls do it too. I work in a day care and you wouldn't believe the number of white little girls and boys who want to grow up to be princess Tiana or marry princess Tiana. I remember there was one little girl who wanted to grow up to be Fiona the Ogre.

  • The reason I am so mad is here we have "The FIRST black princess fairytale in Disney" and they have been complaining (blacks) for sooo many years that "Why are all the princess's WHITE or BROWN why can't they make a black one!" Ahh well here you go: THIS BS IS WHY.. You asked for something now you got it: NOW IT AIN'T GOOD ENOUGH. Stop complaining and ENJOY it,or SHUTUP about it!

  • I love the fact that this princess was a working girl with goals.

  • Uhh. Isn't Pocahontas same color as her? =.=

  • @inthedark1439 lol no pocahontas was native american XD

  • Im sorry, but the time period this movie was placed in was racist and while the movie was not so bad really it had to show some of what it was like kinda like the first Harry Potter they did a good job of making Daniel Radcliff look like the waif he was suppose to be playing I like the movie by the way

  • Tianna sounds more black than Maddy to me but people just complain for attention for them selfs and for entertainment there are too many people that exaggerate on little things but thats America for you

  • This is just great! I can't believe people are complaining about a movie made for little kids! Even though I'm black, I grew up loving Disney, I didn't care what race the princesses were it just seemed so magical to me. But once I heard they were making an African American princess I was so ecstatic that the little African American girls will finally have someone to look up to,and now when I come across this it makes me think," We African Americans finally have a princess, but why so much hate"

  • disney acts like this is an original movie. It's not. It's based off of the book, "The Frog Princess", and butchered terribly into this movie.

  • they could have done a story with her being an african princess point blank period

  • we do not have to talk about racism ,sexism , disney's aim : corrupt our children!!

    ILLUMINATI FREEMASON

  • You know what,as Black Women,we can be some fucking fools!!!!!!!!!Here we are again defending our"strong black brothers".I don't give a damn what race the prince was.Do you honestly think Black Men would've rushed to our defense if the roles were reversed. No they would've applauded it.You see it everyday. They are telling us that they don't want us when so many date out.So this movie serves them right.Black Women quit sitting by like faithful dogs.Look at Ochocinco show.Black Women Need Not Apply

  • @kittytr99 Thats so wrong! Im a black, MORE than decent male. I would not have applauded it if the heroine was white and the prince was black (im not saying i would have been pissed either bc thats NOT whats important). Whats important is that she found love, and he wasnt white this time. Your getting upset over race, when you say u dont care, i dont get it! Dont take you hate for good blk men out on a Disney kids movie! That's childish and trivial.

  • @ytfjordan I was just over the moon that the heroine was based more in reality. Tiana works her butt off and tries not to let other people get her down. She is considerate to others and you can see she got that from her parents.

And for Charlotte, God bless her.. Charlotte was raised the best way her father could manage. Just like Tiana's parents did the best they could for her.

Charlotte is a good, sweet, kind, quirky girl, who is a little boy crazy.

  • @kittytr99 so true

  • Um, since when is Maddy a "stereotypically lower class name?" My cousin's named Maddy and I can assure you, her family is not lower class.

  • All I can say is that I love the Movie. Tiana is the most Beautiful Princess ever. The story was great and heartfelt-I cried : ) and I hope that there are more Black Princesses and hopefully Black Princes (which we are still waiting for because Naveen was Creole but still great : )) to come.

  • @Karamel2233 oops I just did some research and found out that Naveen is Middle Eastern. I still want a Black Prince and Black Princess though lol : )

  • @Karamel2233 Hate to burst your bubble but Creole is a black mixture. I should know. And Naveen was creole basically Black with lighter skin than Tiana so in contrast just made him seem pretty much white. Movie wasnt that great to me

  • @Khaostenshi hate to burst your bubble but if you do some research and listen to the comments that one of the Disney Animation producers made concerning Naveen and his ethnicity when there was controversy concerning the movie and race you will find that he is Middle Eastern. I would not have just come out of the blue saying that he is Middle Eastern had I not have read and heard this womans comment. Honestly, in the beginning I thought that he was Creole too but I was wrong.

  • @Khaostenshi I wish that I could find the name of this woman so that you could learn of her comments also but I figured that most people wouldn't question the commentary of one of the actual producers of the movie. Also I know very well what Creole is. My great grandmother was half Creole...and just fyi Creole isn't necessarily "a black mixture" as you put it.

  • Comment removed

  • People who have never experienced racism will always think that racial sensitivity is stupid. I am an educated black person-check my info if you want to-but I am glad that they made the changes. I understand what some people are saying but racism is not something that occurs one day and is simply forgotten the next. Yes, its a children's movie but look at the world that we live in. People still make racist comments towards Tiana and the movie even after all of the changes....so what can you do?

  • It doesn't take a lot of people to complain about something being racist to make a controversy, particularly if they're well positioned. If a few people, black or otherwise, complained, that does not automatically mean that every black person is overly sensitive about race. Just because *some* black people are overly sensitive doesn't mean that all are. Assuming that all black people spend all their time whining about race is a stereotype.

  • @nadiaff lol

  • Sorry to burst the bullshitters b ubbles, but frogs are green!!!!

  • :41 My goodness, they certainly made a lot of differences in the dress, didn't they? I like the one she used in the movie, though this is pretty (from what we can see).

  • Blah blah blah, get over it.

  • Actually, Belle is not a princess! She didn't marry the Beast! So what if Tiana just became a princess in the end of the movie?! The same thing happned to Cinderella! The Princess and the Frog is a wonderful movie, and that's the important!!!

  • I really think there was too much sensitivity about all this... I mean, Cinderella was a sort of slave in her own house and nobody cared about it !!! why can't there be a black girl as a chambersmaid at the beginning of a childbook's story ?

I watched the movie and I think maybe as a chambersmaid the story would've been more inspirational... who cares really if the princess is purple !!

  • what does it matter what color she is. It was a good movie just like all the rest of the disney movies. i don't see why racism has to counter act with everything now a days, there really is no point.

  • I don't care about anything you say, just give me some good old 2D cartoon.... My favorite are still the one made years ago.... Nothing can demise that...

  • *coughs* Anyway, on to my initial message... the oversensitive criticism of race, sexism and even political correctness in films will never end because people will always find things to get offended at. *shrugs* I've learned to just not care and ignore those people. I personally really adored PatF. It had such a lovely message, bright colors and such a charming cast of characters that were so likable. Definitely one of my favorite Disney films to date. :)

  • Honestly...as a black person I like the plot of her being a chamber maid in the tradition of cinderella. It's more fun that way if she works her way to the top. As for Tiana, isn't that airing on the side of stereotypical "blackness" than maddy? I like the name maddy because it's as adorable as she is and can be short for something extremely princess-like like Madalaena. Not to say that Tiana isn't pretty and princess like...Sometimes people can be a wee bit oversensitive.

    :0)

  • who gives a shit? really are all of you so pc and wrapped up in being offended at this shit ya have to call "RACIST" or "SEXIST" at everything? really isn't that in itself racist or sexist? Automatically calling me racist because im white (or Caucasian to those of you overly pc people) is wrong i'm sorry it is calling me sexist? thats just mean and sexist because im a guy i have to be a chauvinistic pig? You people just want something to verify your depression and make others miserable have fun

  • lol at flipnap2112

  • who gives a shit...ffs

  • well, the story would be more fairytale-ish if she was a chambermaid, you know the whole "if you work hard and be humble and good, you`ll have your happy end with the man of your dreams" kind of thing. And what`s wrong with the name Maddy? It actually sounds cute...

  • ok really? thats just stupid! I mean really...who cares what her name is! and really if they have a problem with "Maddy" being a chambermaid then why doesnt anyone care that "Cinderella" truthfully named "Ella" was a slave in her own house! personally i say that Ella had it worse...no matter what there is no racism in that! really if people feel a need to find racism in everything you better take a good look at yourselves because your racist too just by calling whites racist!

  • i totally agree here.. this is ridiculous and im outraged.. not all frogs are green and im apalled.. the ones i lived around were brown and some were even yellow.. they shouldve put more thought behind this and thought about how other frogs would feel.. typical hollywood bullshit..

  • @flipnap2112 They made them green because whenever someone thinks of frogs, they think green, not brown. That's why.

  • Most of the whining isn't from your average black person, but from black liberal politicians and entertainers. Basically, they weren't going to like any movie that has as its main points, hard work and marriage. Those are the last things liberals want for black people. That's because they want to keep using us as victims to push their socialist agenda.

  • this reminds me of the rodgers and hemmerstein cinderella made a little while back in which all the characters are different races. It doesn't really happen, but I love it - the music and the story are what matter, not race... but that's just me

  • You can watch the full Princess and the Frog online now only at..

    w w w . WatchThePrincessAndTheFrog . t k

  • fuckem there niggers

  • @leasm5 why dont you go and take a grammar class please and thank you :)

  • let people think what they think. I think that it is unfair to disney to treat this with such sensitivity, and I find it odd that several people are accusing everyone of being racist to everyone else. The more "sensitive" audiences are just kids an I don't think a four year old would care.

  • THAT IS RACIST BULL! People see what they want to see! What about Cinderella? Or Mulan-Is Disney sexist too? No other race complains of being a victim of racism as much as black people! I might be exaggerating but the points the same. If she was a chaimber maid it would add more of a fairytale feel to the story. like its supposed to! Its a kids movie for crying out loud! She would go from nothing to something insiprational! People are too sensitive. And like I said:They see what they want to see!

  • Well, that's not entirely fair. The complainers are always louder. (people complain about all the movies). I bought and watched this movie a couple of days ago, and I really liked the outcome. (Even if the original versions were different).

  • @martinezkat9090 um, YES, Disney is also sexist. Are you blind? A helpless woman in distress EVERY TIME who must be rescued somehow by a big strong handsome man who does nothing but lust after her for an hour and a half. That, plus the fact that every female protagonist they have ever drawn has impossible body proportions - worse than Barbie most of the time! This is just a start. Open your eyes.

  • @oPod Actually in Princess and the Frog, Tiana did most of the saving.

  • @martinezkat9090 (cont.) not to mention the fact that Disney RIPPED OFF most of their stories from Grimm's Tales and Aesop's Fables (like Snow White for example) which were ORIGINALLY stories of HEROINES, not HEROES.

so yeah, Disney is also sexist. no question about it. when i have children, i will never let them watch Disney films without first giving them a proper explanation of how wrong it is to portray race, class and gender in that way.

  • @oPod To be fair, a handful of Warner Brothers cartoons were just as sexist and racist too. They were even banned because of how offensive they were. So it wasn't just Disney. All of these old cartoons were made and produced during a time where women didn't exactly had things rolling for them, not to mention peoples minds worked differently back then as apposed to now.

  • @oPod Also, you mentioned about the body proportions; I speak as an art student when I say this, but in art class, we're taught to be more imaginative by exaggerating body proportions, animals, etc when we draw cartoons. That's the whole essence of animation arts - to exaggerate. I also wouldn't watch a movie if it was the exact same story or fairy tale being told repetitively over an over again; I would like for the directors and artists to put their own spin on things and make it interesting.

  • @martinezkat9090 No I think African American people who are intelligent are well aware of what would be a racist stereotype and what isn't.

  • @martinezkat9090 And asian and latino and everyone else..Mulan was made for the same reason this one was...racial satisfaction. It was racist to say JUST black people complained about it. The same things were said about Mulan and Aladdin being racist. Stop generalizing. Disney's main point was that it would be the first black princess. Thats why everything was changed so much. The movie wasnt great anyway.

  • @Khaostenshi There was a Latina Princess?

  • @martinezkat9090 we can't say that it's too easy to say: people see what they want to see ! i'm black and i don't want to see in a disney movie a little black child work for a little wealthy white girl !! i don't want to see a title like that 'the princess and the frog' omg why not simply 'the princesss tatiana' like 'cindrella' or 'snow white & the seven dwarfs ( at least the seven dwarfs are more human than a stupid frog. and i can add why the pince is not black but half black and white??

  • @supertrop94 go on girl! i agree

  • @martinezkat9090 furthermore as if by chance the devil sorcerer is totally black :')

and when tatiana come in the bus with her mother the seats in the front are already taken by white persons :)) so racism or not???? x)

  • @supertrop94 It takes place in 1926, that was before the civil rights movement and the bus boycott. Segregation was alive and well and Disney is showing that as gently as they can. I think it just shows how strong Tiana is, over coming not only evil magic but also racism to reach her goals. Also, I liked the interracial marriage. I thought it was a good choice. After all, the number of interracial marriages is growing.

  • No one more racist than black people, or as they call themselves: the black community. They complain about everything. There's nothing wrong with Tiana, Mulan, Pocahontas......this is for children and it shows a story of inspiration, you can be something in life, dreams can come true. Don't spoil it with stupid inferiority complex

  • @ysmodericci jajaja, what did you expect from fucking niggers

  • @ysmodericci Defending ourselves and complaining are two different things.

  • @ysmodericci these stories are more than "stories for children," they are sugarcoated racist ideologies that continue to permeate this country's media because people like yourself are not educated in media literacy. What we have here is a "representation" of a community that is supposed to represent "reality." When we both now, that this is beyond racist because it employs the same stereotypes of both Anglos and people of color. In the end we cannot move forward if we cannot see the racism.

  • @ysmodericci People need to stop doing this. Stop judging an entire race based on individuals! Just because a few black people share one view doesn't mean all of us do! But anyway I agree with your comment. I Loved the movie, and to be honest I don't really understand what the problem is...

  • @martinezkat9090 AMEIN BROTHER! I'm PR, so i got a bit of black in me, and i totally agree, this rasicm crap is rediculous, people need to grow up, and to be quite honest, it's true, my black brothers and sisters do complain the most and get the most offended. heck, call me a spik i don't care, i am one! this is just like the crap they try to pull with RE 5 and L4d 2

  • @martinezkat9090 I dont know what a chaimber maid is, but I see the word maid so i assume its a house maid or something. Honestly i dnt see the harm in a maid, EXCEPT u have to consider the time it's in...it may be kinnda offensive. I think Tiana is much prettier than Maddy, not from a racial view, but from an aesthetic view. I think her official design's prettier than her previous one's (again, aesthetically). Im black, but i dnt judge it racially, i judge it on her personality/individuality.

  • @martinezkat9090 cuz blk ppl been through so much shittttt so they got every right!

  • @2daymbad I grew up surrounded by blacks and watched them purposefully throw their chance at an education away because it was uncool to be good at school. Then they complained because their grades were too poor to graduate Highschool. Gee, I wonder why they can't make enough money to support themselves. I have seen people put themselves in shitty situations and think it's cool. So if you want to complain about it go tell the black people who need to here it! (oh, and I have seen whites too)

  • @tierz2 i dont know what black people you live around but not all blacks are like that i went to a white school they would smoke in the bath rooms cut class fuck in the bath rooms and throw there lives away its teens in general not just blacks and really black people dont have enough to support them selves?did you really just write that people like you with your racist concept make me sick its 2011 already come on and if u dont like black people why are you on princess and the frog

  • @2daymbad Hey, I did not once say that ALL black people are like that. I was referring to the ones who have "been through so much shittttt" and pointing out that most of that is created by themselves. Also, if you read my comment again you will notice I said I have seen whites do the same. Honestly, most of my friends have been black and it wasn't until I was 7 I even knew the difference because it matter so little to me. I go by character, not color. I thought you were being racist, so what ev.

  • @2daymbad P.S. I watched the movie and thought it was great. It had an awesome message and I plan to watch it again.

  • @martinezkat9090 im black. i agree with everything you just said! blacks are just way too sensitive!

  • @martinezkat9090 and yes if u read on things disney do have a rasist and sexist thing with this if you check out other videos how they made asians act and hispanics act

  • okay advice for you shut the fuck up and watch the damn movie wtf is wrong with you mu fuckas

  • hey i commented myself

  • aw hell i still call it the "Frog Princess" than "Priness and the Frog" too long. i do reckon tho that tiana is a better name, wudnt wanna Disney girl called maddy but how tha hell are the characters racist??? geez people are nuts! who cares whether her name was maddy or tiana anyway? FREAKS!!!

  • Lots of the disney princesses came from lower class or were living as a chambermaid of some kinda. Cinderella was basically a slave before the slipper, belle was a poor French inventors daughter , snow white lived in a cottage as basically a maid. I dont see how making a black princess follow the templates of the other princesses would be racist

  • streretypically lower class name? WTF thats so stupid.

all the maddys i know are white, asian, etc other races.

and the only tiana i know is black .____.

    lolz.

but stil wow lower class name? i feel bad for all the maddies in the world..

  • Thats why The Suite Life of Zack and Cody had that candy girl named maddy!

  • soooooooo agree what your saying.

people are just too sensetive. when i saw the trailer i saw NOTHING of racism.

cinderella was a maid. she was pretty much poor and stuff.

  • I was thinking the same thing. What about freakin CINDERELLA!

  • I really love this movie! I just dont get the big contraversy over it, it is completly ridiculous! I really like the fact that they made Prince Naveen racially ambiguous with a French accent, I found this to be vey interesting.

  • haha the voice actor of prince naveen is actually brazilian xD

    so its brazilian accent lol

  • I loved this movie- partly because it was based in the good ol' Cresent City! I think that it was actually a fairly accurate account of what life might have been like for a poor black girl in New Orleans during the time period.

I LOVE SOUTHERN ACCENTS! There's just something about them that makes life seem lazy and good. (And I'm from the South, so I'm not someone that just thinks they are so different so I like them.)

  • Tiana was never a princess until the very end when she was married to the prince. also, being a frog was the whole POINT of the movie. black, white, latino, chinese, whatever the lead role character was, the story plot would have remained the same

  • Well, the storyline is about them getting back their human selves, so they wouldn't be human for most of the film.

    It's just the storyline.

I like how the black princess is the only one that actually does anything but get trapped and/or hurt, maybe patching a wound here and there- well, Mulan was different, but still.

I think Disney is saying that white girls are useless. Seriously. Or that the people who scream 'racism!' at stuff will overlook white racism.

  • True enough, but some of the Disney Princesses did things. Belle, for instance.

  • I don't think white girls are useless is the point. Most of the white princesses are the older movies, during which time the fairytales were taken more directly and the women were viewed differently. The main reason the non-white princesses are portrayed better is because the movies they star in were made more recently. So it's more like saying disney movies have became both more diverse and less sexist over the years.

  • I cant believe that people would be in an uproar over the fact that initially the Princess was going to start out as a maid like in the movie Cinderella. Im sure that it is not intended to insinuate that just because she is black means that she will always be is a maid. It is a storyline that is attempting to teach children to make the right decisions in life, to follow their hearts and to love people for who they are not what color they are.

  • You have a point. Cinderella was a white girl and she was still a maid. The difference is Cinderella had to do what ever she was told to do whenever she was told to do it because her step family hated her.

  • Has anyone noticed that in Disney movies, the majority (if not all) of the "princesses" who do more than sit around waiting for a man to come rescue them are minority women (Tiana, Mulan, Jasmine to an extent).

And how they regard women in the workforce. For women like Cinderella and Snow White, they worked hard because they were "forced" to. For minorities (ie Tiana) it was out of economic necessity.

Other factors people should look into when citing Disney for "racism".

  • Well, most ethnic Disney women were made between 1990s-2000s when women are more independent. But you're right. Most of the white female princesses are not as strong as the colored princesses.

  • I like that way of looking at it. I just liked how this new one, as opposed to other ones, tells little girls they can't just wish, they have to work hard. :)

I also liked how, even though the blond girl was ditzy and spoiled, she wasn't selfish or mean. (It's kind of a refreshing change of pace for the other girl character who was almost like a love rival to be so nice).

  • If anything, I would have thought that the name Tiana would have been more of a stereotype for an African American woman than Maddy. I agree that a lot of this seems to stem from people being too sensitive. If they weren't complaining that it took Disney so long to have a black princess, they're complaining that the fact that they are doing it is racist. Damned if you do, damned if you don't, I guess. I think this was an excellent movie.

  • People also can't agree on wether taking out the ridiculous looking black stereotype girl in Fantasia was more racist than leaving her in. (It's like, either they're goofy stereotypes, or they don't exist.) I personally like the movie wether it has diversity or not. (Besides, they're freakin centaurs- they weren't people colored, they were the colors of the rainbow.)

  • I loved this movie and I didn't understand the complaints about it. Tiana was an awesome character with brains, courage, integrity and good sense! If anything, white ppl were the idiots in it, so why was there all this fuss about racism with it?

  • I can't wait to see this movie, it's sad that there's still fighting going over it even as it was released.

As for the Naveen's race still being 'unknown'

He struck me as being half black and half white, and if you hadn't noticed there a lot of people with that mix in their genes these days. So, if you're going on about it not being fair on either side, what about the people in the middle? Can't THEY have someone to relate to as well?.

  • @ZetraGild if you can't tell a black person at first glance that means the individual isn't black at all.

Naveen isn't a afro name . they coulda named him Sanjay or Duleep lol! it wouldn't have made a difference.

  • supa

    klase

  • this wasn't the first movie from disney to have controversy.

Phocahontas came out , there was a lot of controversy too

  • I think choosing a black heroine is interesting,a bit of change is always welcomed specially when the change is positive, nowadays stereotypes are being broken and that is a good thing it will prove(though i haven't seen the movie yet) that a fairy tale message is really universal no matter to which race we belong...
