  • love the song, but I can hardly hear my (the alto) part. but hey, that's nothing new, is it?

  • I love how he kind of dances when he conducts. haha

  • @maestronaes Yeah Its really bad. It's the baritone section. >_< I sang this in my choir last year and sure baritone is the HARDEST part because you shouldn't be heard but it holds everything together. we sand it on stage just fine but when we traveled to like NY and other places we kinda messed up the up-beats. :P It's a very hard piece and they did alright. everything else is fine...

  • we are singing this at our choir. I get goosbumps all over, because I remember one scene from the Movi "Little Ashes" when they execut Frederico Garcia Lorca

I`m thankful to perform his word at our small town

  • The video just proves that if you're watching a choir that sounds amazing and you don't know who the conductor is, look at his head. Is it full of long blonde locks? It's Whitacre.

    xD

  • 0:20 on the aaaaaa of love there is someone who is soooooooooooooo flat. how crappy. I'm singing this as well and I KNOW that note is not in there. god how it is horrible.

  • @jakekelleybenfrank really?? haven't heard this song yet, but if she was flat, she did well, hearing this song for the 1st time, i would say it's good. . .

  • How embarrasing to be singing from score, then have it upside down in concert...

  • who did that?

  • @evacify watch the video... :)

  • i still cant see it.

  • @LuvHopeDream when in the video does the person do that, i looked and couldnt spot it

  • Early on, before the music starts, girl on front row, in front of conductor, 6 from screen left.

  • @JoeyTheGuitarDude in the beginning when everyone is getting set.

  • i love this song!! it causes inspiration...and i have sooooooooo much love for a group of singers who do it right!!! EXCELLENT JOB AND WELL DONE!!! ♥

  • Our concert choir did this song, and they sounded amazing. At one clinic the guest conductor sped the song up slightly and changed the "oohing" to hums so that it sounded buzzing bees. It was amazing.

  • It seems the video is out of sync, about a beat early.

  • eric whitacre. you are the most amazing man to ever walk this earth.

  • He is the modern Frederic Francois Chopin.

  • aaaaagreed.

  • we're going on tour with this song! and lucky us, our conductor met mr. whitacre so he knows exactly what he wants the piece to sound like

  • @lifeinahand That's nice, but isn't part of music and performance making it your own?

  • @Bub1029 of course we did! Whitacre just talked to our conductor about what was going through his head when he composed this and what he imagined it would sound like.

  • @lifeinahand Just checking.

  • This reminds me of Wicked for some reason...

  • yeah that makes sense it does have a kind of Wicked like sound to it

  • all of Eric Whitacre's songs do. that's why i love him so much.

  • i cant wait untill the concert when my choir sings this

  • This tenor section rocks my socks off. Nice job, guys! Too much soprano to my ear, but maybe it;s because of the recording.

  • So ... this is our audition piece for our chamber group. I love it and though there are a number of good recordings out there, I really enjoy this one. The ONLY thing I wish is that the altos were clearer in the beginning. Those fist few measures in the presto are killer.

Stupid minor 2nds .... *grumble grumble*

  • You think you guys have it hard! Us poor basses in this song =[

  • Man I hear ya. Its kinda heard to learn as a bass but I absolutely love the harmonies in this song

  • Yeah our choir is doing this song. It's tough! Key changes and time signature changes up the yin yang! Not to mention a lot of the melodies really stretch the range of us vocalists! Especially us basses! beautiful song none the less!

  • What's the range for the basses?

  • near the end where we sing that U-ni-ver-se part. We go really high for a Bass. If you have the sheet music check it out and you'll know what I mean.

  • low F sharp to top E.

  • really wide... something like E2 to A3 or something... probably goes even higher... I had the baritone part.

  • @GpD79

  • man the sopranos sound so unbalanced with the rest of the choir and not very blended at all.. too bad.

But it's still cool that Eric is conducting!

  • pretty difficult song, did this with my choir.

Unfortunately we didn't have Eric conducting us, lol!

  • i dont know how you can say the dynamics could be more drastic..

eric was conducting! He always has the choirs perform the way he wants to hear it.

overall, pretty good performance. i do agree about the sopranos. a lil too pingy in some spots. i love this song.

  • Beautiful tenor, ughh i love this song, amazing!

  • I remember singing this in college and I loved the part at about 1:57 and on. I mean its all amazing but that part was just great and really spoke to me

  • love this song :)

my friend caught me singing it in my sleep! haha

  • It was beautiful.

    Out of 10:

Dynamics: 10 (Could be more drastic but still amazing)

    Diction: 10

Tone: 9.5 (S1 were the flaw in one spot)

    Pitch: 10

    Balance: 10

  • excellent song
