Hey Carl - I'm just starting to turn, and wondering about using the bowl gouge instead of the skew on the light bulb. Any reasons for your choices of tools? Thanks very helpful and will put to use for the holidays! Dave
I was watching your video on the turning the tree and the xmas bulb, will make some cute things for me to do for gifts for people next christmas. I am curious as to how to do the pinecone you show also. I suppose you could just taper it and just layer different depths. I look forward to using your videos from you tube in my shop as I try these. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos.
If you want to send me your address to LTDH@aol.com I'll send some out to you. Ill just put it in a flat rate box. If there are any particular sizes you want let me know.
Nice video, but I wonder why didn't you polish the ornaments?I guess it would have been realy awesome if they are shining and reflecting the Christmas lights.I'm asking not to offend you, just wondering if there is a reason(maybe the polishing wax and the heat of the lights is bad?),
I did put a gloss finish on these, but took the picture after the first coat to get the video up. I am going to put on two more coats of gloss finish. I put some pictures with the final finish when they are done. Yes, you are right Christmas ornaments look better with a gloss finish.
Hello I am a new lathe owner and was looking for some simple projects. Thanks for doing this.

@oneptbuk No reasons the skew chisel would work well too.

About what size hole do you make on the tailstock end? Your videos are always very good, this one is no exception!!
