The G5 is designed to be used on heritage railways where the likes of 60163 might be too heavy. It'll be main line certified only for easy access between rail connected heritage railway sites.
Th G5 will be a perfect size for hauling 4 mark ones on ANY standard gauge heritage line & comes with the advantages of being brand new along with access to a plentiful supply of spares. It'll ensure the steam legacy continues for many more generations & could be as important as the Tornado project.
Projects like this always fill me with joy. In this seemingly dark & gloomy world of earthquakes in Japan & civil war in Libya, I love to hear reassuring and inspiring stories such as this, of people working to reclaim a bit of the past in a machine that will live on for years to come. Thank you Wensleydale Railway for posting this great video. I really needed that emotional boost. I look forward to hearing more about this, and the many other steam engine rebuilds taking place throughout the UK.
What's the score with it now?

@DTQUARMBY
I expect to be asked back sometime this month (March 2012) to film the boiler assembly and a video update will be posted here.

Although I believe it will be built to mainline standards this will chiefly be to allow it to move between heritage railways under its own power.
