Dolores Claman who owns the rights to this hockey night in canada theme song has extorted enough money from canadian taxpayers for use of this song. It was time to move on. CTV which owns TSN paid a ton of money for the rights to the song, then 3 months later layed off 80 - 100 employees.. Doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me.

Back then they made a new way of aerodynamic pants called Cooperalls. The Flyers and Canucks were the only teams that used them but they were discarded the next year by the commissioner and went back to the regular pants with shin guards.

The Flyers and the Whalers were the only teams that used 'Cooperalls', actually.

Players disliked them because they used slide uncontrollably along the ice when wearing them.

Canucks never used Cooperalls. I do remember Philly & Hartford using them and there was an agreement to outfit the Canadiens in Cooperalls (believe it or not!) but they were scrubbed by the NHL before it came to pass.

This Theme is why I'm being a dual citizen with Canada.

I have nothing but respect for Canada (except Quebec) their people are kind, generous, and more upbeat than here in the US.

This is why us Buffalonians love Hockey, the tradition and joy when this song came on for Hockey Night In Canada on CBC every saturday.

Bring some more teams in Canada!!! Lose Nashville, Phoenix, Dallas, and Florida.

Bring back Quebec, Winnipeg, and Hartford!

The HNIC theme, in a different variations has become a Canadian institution, and even we here in the northern-most United States watch it more than anything ESPN/ABC, NBC/Versus or Fox has to offer.

ONLY HNIC has THE best coverage, especially come playoff time, in fact I have watched all of the networks and still found the CBC's coverage to be superior to anything we have to suffer with here in the States. Gary Thorne and Doc Emerick can't hold a candle to Bob Cole.

Vancity is right. Gretz was not the most talented. Talent only gets you so far, Gretzky had that ability that no one had, and that was outsmart and know what a defender's thinking or a goalie. All you need then is a stick, a puck, and the freakish accuracy that he had. That is why he is the Great One.

Gretzky amazes me, he wasn't all that skilled at all. but he was just a complete mastermind at hockey that he dominated the game. don't get me wrong he could play for sure, but there were more skilled guys than him, but no one knows the game and has that 6th hockey sense better than he does. unbelievable!
