I actually came across the movie and though it said based on a true event, I didn't know how much was fact, so I am doing research. Excellent post. Its exactly what I thought when I saw the movie with Macauly Culkin. Michael was showing sociopathic triats all along way before he committed the dreadful crime. Its amazing that the superficial lifestyle and drugs had killed them in every respect accept physically. They were the costumed dancing dead and it was a waste because they were really quite creative but they couldn't translate into anything useful.

I believe it really was a break from reality. Many people do desire the ability or quality of life where they live free of all judgment. To have an environment where you can do whatever you want is extremely enticing, and in all honesty a lifestyle most would prefer; All I am saying is it was an open and beautiful concept ruined by a guy whom in a chemically altered state of mind ruined what he helped create. I don't think the people were idiots; Nobody took this lifestyle seriously.
