It's the access that is terrible for the less fortunate. Every industrialized country has some sort of universal health care and they are happy with it. If the Republicans don't like gov't ran health care then why didn't they repeal medicare, medicaid, tricare, or veterans affairs when they had the majority.
They lose their coverage due to unemployment then when they try to get coverage on their own they are denied coverage. That's just one example. Is it right to deny people coverage who are willing and able to pay for it? That is why reform is needed. Whether it's a gov't option or regulation of health care insurance. Something has to be done to make sure people have the access to health care insurance. You can't honestly say it's ok for health insurance companies to deny coverage or services?

People that can't get health insurance can't get medicare unless they are 65 or older. Disable and unable to work. They can't get Medicaid unless their at or below the poverty line. What do we do about the people that has insurance and are denied treatment or make to much money that they can't get gov't health care and are denied coverage by private health insurance companies? Yes, the general welfare clause is restricted to the enumerated powers in Article 1 Section 8. Article 1 Section 8 grants Congress the power to regulate commerce amongst the several states. Health care reform is an exercise of the commerce clause and is in no way inconsistent with the principles of the Constitution.
As I explained, Congress has the power to regulate commerce. This is a very broad power. Health care is a form of commerce therefore Congress has the power to regulate it.
One could equally make the argument that because the Constitution doesn't mention nuclear reactors that Congress doesn't have the right to regulate if a private citizen wants his own personal Chernobyl.

They lose their coverage due to unemployment then when they try to get coverage on their own they are denied coverage. That's just one example. Is it right to deny people coverage who are willing and able to pay for it? That is why reform is needed. Whether it's a gov't option or regulation of health care insurance. Something has to be done to make sure people have the access to health care insurance. You can't honestly say it's ok for health insurance companies to deny coverage or services?

If you are talking about the fact that corporations and special interest groups run this country then yeah. Anybody can see that. Health care for your citizens and legal residents is the cause of contries failing? Every other industrialized country has a system of universal health care coverage and they are happy with it. Health care should be a part of the commons. You can't have life without health care. Reform is needed, point blank.

I guess youre ok with corporations being first in line when legislations are being past in this country's history. To me it's the lesser of two evils with this administration. But something has to be done to get gov't back fully on the side of the working class.
Ask Canadians, people in Europe, I personally know Germans that love their system. If it was so bad then why are we the only ones that do not have it? Cuba yes if I couldn't get it here for any reason. North Korea or China no.

It is a known fact that the health care in Canada is like the DMV or post office, social security office. Bureaucratically and ineffective. And in Europe all they have ever known is government control. One more thing, When was the last time health care innovations were made in these socialized country's? And just about all foreign leaders come here in AMERICA to get the health care that you seem to think is so awful.

Then gov't is corrupt with corporations in control. The gov't is an entity that we as voters can get to work for us but to many people are so ignorant to the facts and don't care. Campaign finance reform is needed to get our gov't back out of the control of corporations.
It's sad to me as a country people were willing to send me to my death three times (war) but when it comes to providing health care to the needy they throw a fit. Where are our priorities? Fear makes people stupid.

I take care of all my ills on my own. They are people out there that are not as fortunate as me. For them the gov't who is sworn to protect its people steps in and helps. The gov't is of the people, by the people, for the people. The gov't is US if we have the resilience to get it back from the control of the wealthy. We can't be a country that has the least of us dying, hungry, and poor. We have too much wealth as a nation for that to be happening.

Congress by law can lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States. If the welfare of the people is threatened then they can come in and fix the problem by the means stated above.
I guess it's ok to make millions and billions while denying people care that they pay for. Money trumps someone elses life. What a good lesson to teach to future generations.

They use surveys from patients that use the hospitals and the VA does better than private run hospitals. VA hospitals have been doing better in the last 8 years. No one can deny that. It's not perfect but it's doing better in the patients views than those patients in private sector hospitals. Considering your fact less replies I am done with all of you frightened fools.

After 11 trillion of deficit spending that never benefited Americans before Obama took office you are now concern when he wants to reform health insurance that will benefit Americans. Of course the money has to come from somewhere. Fraud, waste, and abuse. Subsidizes to insurance companies. Rolling back the tax cuts to the wealthy. We Americans want something for nothing. We want to get rid of the deficit but are not willing to pay more taxes to pay down the debt along with cutting costs.

People that can't get health insurance can't get medicare unless they are 65 or older. Disable and unable to work. They can't get Medicaid unless their at or below the poverty line. What do we do about the people that has insurance and are denied treatment or make to much money that they can't get gov't health care and are denied coverage by private health insurance companies? We need a system to address those in need. We being Christians should support anything that helps the needy!

Jesus was a liberal and I'm an independent that follows the teachings of Jesus Christ to the best of my abilities. Some conservative cherry pick stuff out of the bible that benefits their views and ignores the rest. But back to health care. Obviously you have no answer for what needs to happen to people who are denied insurance or care from health insurance companies that do not qualify for government programs even though medical bills are the main cause for bankruptcies in this country.

They have insurance and are denied care or they are denied insurance outright. So they will have to pay medical bills in the tens and hundreds of thousands. Is that morally right to deny people care or let them go bankrupt because they can pay their medical bills or worse die due to lack of care.
Being gay or abortions are not right according to my faith. But people have the freedom to choose and live with what they do in their own lives. If you don't like either of them don't do it.

Yes, the general welfare clause is restricted to the enumerated powers in Article 1 Section 8. Article 1 Section 8 grants Congress the power to regulate commerce amongst the several states. Health care reform is an exercise of the commerce clause and is in no way inconsistent with the principles of the Constitution.

As I explained, Congress has the power to regulate commerce. This is a very broad power. Health care is a form of commerce therefore Congress has the power to regulate it.
One could equally make the argument that because the Constitution doesn't mention nuclear reactors that Congress doesn't have the right to regulate if a private citizen wants his own personal Chernobyl.
