and yes i have the other versions... and win 7 locks up pretty easy , just run couple of advanced app it locks.. this is not true with vista sp2. same is for usb and drivers.

I have been using Windows since 2.03 (yes you read that right, since 1988) and never had the registry corrupt on me or slow down the system. As for fragmentation; there is none, since the system is defragged automatically when it's idle (already since Vista) and DLL hell was already 100% solved in Vista with WinSXS, don't talk about things you don't understand little boy...sigh

Looks pretty neat. I think the reason it doesn't let you flip through Photoshop windows is because those windows are under Photoshop, as opposed to being under Windows like the multiple Firefox instances were.

I have tried for about 2 1/2 years now vista 64 bit and vista 32 but (ultimate), right know I can't really see the benefit going to windows 7 when it comes out of course. Especially at the insane cost of a new premium microsoft OS.........although I can't stand the stuck up apple crowd (only some) I give OSX kudos for always being ahead of the curve in looks...but I like to tweak my comp overclock etc. and mostly games......so vista\xp\7 it is :)..

Haha, the User Interface, when I first tried it (hadn't seen it before) I was shocked. Its pretty darn good hey? Very aesthetically pleasing, and ergonomic in the way it works. Some programs, not too great for, but most, are hell mother wicked awesome!

its an older toshiba p105 series (p105-s6217 specificly). its not the best laptop but it certainly isnt bad. it has taken quite a beating, i cant complain about the build quality, its been tossed quite a few times, had the lid slam shut (slammed seriously), i managed to dissconnect the screen once and i fixed it merely by pushing the cable back into the vid card. dont buy the new toshibas though, ive seen them in the store and they suck...but ive been happy with this one

yea...my only real problem with this laptop is the sound card is not the best in the world and it can crackle at high volumes, but if massively improved with 7 so i wouldn't worry bout it

all that they need to do now is make a set of development guidelines like apple has so that things are all in the same place across different software so everything looks spanky and part of it then they will have a great os in my opinion.

so honestly i am interested in some comments....i graduated from devry university 3 years ago, i have (3) 22" monitors and a 17" monitor overhead....how many of you think this OS is just as stable/more stable as opposed to XP I have already tried win 7 but was irritated about a few things and went back to xp so just let me know what you all think thanks

No you won't be able to use it I think it is deep in the code when you install it to remove itself from your system. You would need to install a older OS but really the best thing is to have a dual boot option to begin with to save yourself time.

I've actually seen the iLife, iWork, and OSX cds at retail stores. >.o Their hardware isn't supported by Windows (besides Intel), and they don't send out individual hardware parts to people because they'd lose money. I don't want to start a flamewar or anything, but since you not care about mac, I suppose you even haven't tried it. So list just one thing that isn't right there on the mac dock besides the fancy looking windows preview and the i-dont-see-the-point-of chromatic change of the icon background on the taskbar.

I do like how the new task bar is similar to the OSX dock, but different enough by adding its own style of functionality. dare I say unique. But I do like that it shows progress bars for downloads and things. Ive noticed that my steam games load much faster in windows 7 beta than they did in XP. Im not sure why but I like it. I will probly get this when it comes out. gasp, I swore Id never buy another microsoft product again, eh,, oh well. I hope they dont screw up the final version.

I have machines with XP, Vista X64, Win 7 X64 and Mac OS/X and I can guarantee you, it looks nowhere near the Mac.

Win 7 has handy previews, the dock has not. Mac dock has stacks, Win 7 has not. Win 7 has jump lists, the dock has not. Win 7 has a system bar, the dock has not or at least not something with similar functionality. Shoudl I continue? You fail again.

yes, that is somewhat true...but not really it is just taking the quick launch idea that windows has had for years and improving on it (by alot) ...plus an icon on a bar is an icon on a bar...its not copying at all its just using the standard functions on a computer. and finally the taskbar totally owns the mac dock by a huge amount..so much more functionality

no i really havnt...however i have had one "major" problem which is probably a quick fix for microsoft and a pretty simple bug...the sound works fine when booted up but when i put the laptop to sleep it dosent work...so i am guessing a pretty simple bug fix for microsoft (even though it annoys the crap out of me) ...however, still am way looking foreward to 7

I run here Vista 64 bit and I am able to run EVERY application that I was running on XP, now imagine...this is not only Vista, it';s also 64 bit! The only 2 minor applications that I can't run don't have the proper driver. Wow, 2 applications of the 500 or so warez apps/games that I tried, wow what a shocker lol.

To give you an idea how compatible Windows is; I can still run and compile my Cobol programs with a compiler that I first used in 1986 when I was doing a course to become a professional Cobol programmer, to give you an idea...in those days we ran on systems that had no harddrive, but only 2 5 1/4" floppies and 512 or 640KB (yes, KILO BYTES) of ram with a monochrome screen that couldn't even do graphics. Not compatible? My ass....
