  • Are cat is perfectly happy with our visiting opossum. Our opossum seems to go for the nuts, fruit and veggies instead of the meat anyway.

  • an opossum couldn't really catch a cat anyway. I helped raise an orphaned one and never saw him move fast enough to chase down an ant. Very cool animals though.

  • The oppossum's not a cat predator, is too large to be a cat prey animal, and is not doing anything to bother the cats so they're probably like "Whatever."

  • cat: um are you a cat?

    opossum: I'm a stray. I swear.

  • I feed cats in a big train yard. One opposum came and ate with the cats. I loved it. I also saw a racoon eat with them too. So I returned with some apples and scattered them around. Hey, they're all Gods creatures and they all gotta eat. Thanks for posting this.

  • Sort of looks like my bunch. Stray cat had 6 kittens. They adopted me. At night, possums eat the dry cat food. One possum in particular, waits til the cats have ate all they want and then he will start eating. I try not to keep the cat food out there because the possums and raccoons eat it too. Kind of difficult tho as got to feed the cats and everything else in the country helps themselves to it also.

  • Good to see animals aren't as species-centric & racist like people. The cats are just like: "Dude, nice fur;- hey, there's plenty of chow, come have a bite."

  • cool, my cats would eat with opossums and skunks...but the skunk would still spray them after the food was all eaten

  • @413hey well that's not fair....

  • grew up near mountains and hills. Cats are pretty nutrual with Opossum. Both are hungry and want to eat, but the cats would hiss and meow at the Opossum and he would just hiss back, but they never fought.

  • That's how it happened here - the cats would growl and spit and just keep on eating, and the opossum would just ignore them.

  • they do make some crunching noises

  • The crunching was so loud I could hear it as soon as I opened the barn door - that's how I would know that he was in there eating with the cats.
