If you are wondering why the he survived being partially lasered, it is because the Spartan Laser works by shooting between five and fifteen individual lasers upon each pull of the trigger. To be killed by it, you must take the majority of these individual lasers. His uncannily timely deployment of the bubble shield saved him from the majority of these, but you will notice his shields do take a hit. Due to Halo 3's physics engine being vulnerable to lag, network speed may also have been a factor

its as simple as this, the spartan lazer fires exactly 5 times, normally this always results in a kill shot becauses it happens so quickly, this bubble shield throw is an example of something that got between the first 2 fires and the shield took the rest

wow all of you are stupid....in the making of the laser it was programmed to stay lit for a very short time...in the starting of that time it is fatal but if someone misses ou at the starting and hits you at the end of the laser, then it takes ALL health down but doesnt kill you. ive tested this and found this to be true when i killed someone (after something like this happened) with 1 shot of a plasma pistol. when this happens you are lucky to be alive, but youre one shot kill

The laser is actually 4 quick fire beams. Spin around while firing it and you will see multiple red dots :P I believe it takes 3 of them to kill and it seems the bubble shield deployment vessle blocked the last 2 :D

The spartan laser doesn't count as a 1-hit kill. It's actually a ton of smaller hits that take so little time between you don't notice. Obviously he was in it only long enough to survive.
