  • I bought one...thanks for posting this review.

  • (Mukhang Pinoy si kuya?)

  • @merts487,

    Of course! :)

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • @gadgettts Heheh! Subscribe!

  • @merts487,

    :)

  • does someone knows which monitors are used for the review?

  • Great review, you mentioned that your Dell LCD's were just over the limit, by how much? I have two benq 241W's and they weigh in at (without the oem stand) 22.4 lbs (10.2 kg), I wonder if that's just too heavy for it?

  • Hi, I'm wondering how close can you get any one of the displays to you? I'm considering using this arm with a Cintiq UX2 (a graphic tablet display) but also have a standard LCD. Could you bring it down to you, say at keyboard level?

  • Fr. Robert - thank-you for this review, it was very informative. Now that I've bought one, I certainly agree with everything you say about the LX. I've now got my twin 24" BX2440 Samsungs off my desk saving loads of space. Fantastic review. God bless you!

  • Thanks for this review! Lots of depth.

  • Which 2x 27" monitors have you installed on the Ergotron LX Dual Arm?

Please specify model number so I can figure weight for them.

  • If I put 2 laptops on both the mounting arms, could I move one laptop above another? Or for this I should use the other one they had?

Basically I am looking at this as a way the laptops up and away from where I work for most of the time and then move into range if I want to work on it, plug / unplug stuff.

  • Great video!

  • you are saying it can be found online at $220.00 I tried looking up, I found one for $247.00 on ergodirect website but it doesn't look like the one you are showing in your video. The description is the same: "Ergotron 45-245-026 LX Dual Side-by-Side Desk Mount LCD Monitor Arm 45245026

" but it looks different. Where can I find the one you are showing?

  • BTW - I ended up getting the Ergotron LX (previous model) it was $50 cheaper than the one you reviewed, but just as effective. Thx again for a thorough review.

  • Is there one for my 27 inch Dell Monitor?

  • @ndrone,

This WILL work with two 27" monitors... it's just not rated for it. (I've tried it though)

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • @gadgettts I Have a 27" iMac and a second 26" Monitor. Will it work with it? Thx

  • @DJLAZARTHEREAL,

Do you want to mount the iMac as a monitor?

How much do the two units weigh and do they both have VESA mounts on the back?

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • @gadgettts Yes, I have one stand at the moment for the iMac, but i need 2 Monitors to work easerly with cubase 5. The iMac wight is 13,9Kg and the Samsungs 10Kg, so I read about 19Kg for that LX Dual Stand and only with 24" Monitors, so I´m a little bit nervous if I buy that LX DUAL STAND over Internet? I have bought and install the Vesa mount on the mac.

  • Great review...Thanks for taking the time to post it. Very useful.

  • @gilsmethod

Thanks for taking the time to comment. It's much appreciated!

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Thanks for the review, but what the hell did I stumble onto for comments???

McGenetics, what is the basis for your original post? Did I miss a sermon somewhere in the middle of the video??? Or did you just feel the need to vent?

  • mjktrash,

Thanks for watching... I hope you'll enjoy some of our other reviews!

As for some of the comments about faith/Jesus/religion/etc, I'm used to them. Some people have a genuine question about why a Catholic Priest is playing with tech. Others need to vent their anger about the Jesuits/Catholic/Believers. Still others just like to cause grief. -- I never take it too personally.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

P.S. If you play the video backwards, you WILL hear my sermon. ;-)

  • Fr. Robert,

Great review! How far do the 'elbows' stick back behind the desk in various positions? I ask because my desk is pushed right up against the wall. Will that severely restrict my ability to position the monitors if I don't leave a certain amount of clearance between the desk and the wall?

  • chinapaulo,

That WILL be a problem. The elbows need AT LEAST 6" of travel behind the plain of the mount in order to function properly. I have the same problem with my desk and my solution was to remove one of the dogbones so that one side of the stand was shorter than the other. Then I was able to position the monitors to the side of center, keeping the proper level between them.

It's not perfect, but if you've got no space behind the desk, it still works OK.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • @gadgettts

Thanks for the clarification. I suppose I could mount the base further into the desk (further from the wall) to get back some of the lost space, but I'd obviously be giving up some desk space to do so. For now, this might be academic, since my wife just proposed a spending freeze. :)

  • Well I'm sold... on the monitor stand, not Jesus.

  • mcgenetics,

Splendid! -- Though you do know that I was reviewing the monitors stand... not Jesus. :)

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • I let Jesus hold my monitors for me.

  • I got to the part about jesus and hit the back button. I don't need Jesus reviewing tech gadgets for me.

  • mcgenetics,

Sorry you couldn't get past your intolerance. Still.. thanks for stopping by.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Just wondering what Jesus had to do with the review, why even bring it up?

  • mcgenetics,

It's "The Society of Jesus" -- AKA, "The Jesuits" -- That's the name of the religious order to which II belong. Depending on who you ask, we are either the group of philosophers, artists, doctors, lawyers and educators who are responsible for much of the modern system of education... or we're a despotic group of illuminati conspiring to bring about the New World Order.

    .

All I know is that I'm a priest, and a geek, and ashamed of neither.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • intolerance? How does the Vatican feel about same sex marriage? abortion? sex before marriage?

  • mcgenetics,

That's actually my point exactly... Why is it that the same people who criticize and bemoan the intolerance of faith... ANY FAITH... are often the ones who will so often summarily judge the worth of another?

    .

According to your first post, you "got to the part about jesus and hit the back button" -- Really? Knowing nothing about me? Or my knowledge of tech? Or my stand on same sex marriage/abortion/etc.

    .

    (Continued)

  • (continued)

To judge me based on your opinions of the Catholic Hierarchy in the Vatican makes about as much sense as me judging you as a Caucasian... in other words, I assume nothing about people I've just met, prefering to let their actions speak for themselves...

I hope to receive the same treatment in return.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Fr. - I didn't really hit the back button. I wanted to see the review. ;-)

  • I really enjoyed this video and decided to get one of these for myself. However, everyone should be forewarned that they stealthy changed the size of the base pole without changing the part number. The justification I received via email was that they believe this is fine because it "doesn't affect the function of the arm." Anyway, this SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the height of your monitors and is a definite drawback for this product.

  • HyperAnomaly,

I had not heard about that or seen the new design... I'll definitely ask them for one of the revised units.

    .

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Thanks,

Please be sure to tell me if you find a way I can get one of the older, taller base poles.

  • does it have a 200x100 adapter plate?

coz my samsung 2494hs needs one.

  • It doesn't come with that particular adapter plate.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • What is it about people who work in churches - and having this scripted rehearsed sounding dialogue speech pattern.

    Its like

    hella creepy man

  • TheBlitz1,

I WISH it was scripted... it would make the reviews much easier!

In any case, if it will help I'll try to make future episodes sound unscripted and totally unprepared.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • I said it sounds like it is scripted rehearsed dialogue, like its insincere.

It was a good review - the content of the review is nice.

But something creepy about teh talkings, like some sort of unnatural rhythm

I dunno lol it just creepy XD

  • Also i was wondering, of the schools you listed on your profile: SCU, LMU, LUC, JSTB;

    How many are nationally accredited?

  • All of them.

    Santa Clara University

    Loyola Marymount University

    Loyola University of Chicago

Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley

    Look em up...

  • Do they only offer religious Degrees?

  • TheBlitz1,

No. SCU is one of the best Law Schools in the country and has top-25 Engineering and MBA programs.

LMU has a top 25 MBA program and a top-10 film school.

LUC has a top-10 medical campus...

The list goes on... like I said... look them up if you are really interested.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • awesome review, i'm thinking of getting the MX arms for my imac 27 inch! I was a bit paranoid though cause the MX carries only less than 30 lbs and the new imac is a bit over 30... by how much was it over weight?

    Thanks Father!

    Mabuhay :P

  • correction, you mentioned in the vid yours was over weight...that's what I was referring to:

How much were the screens over weight?

  • gotrice15278,

Just to be clear, the maximum rated weight on the LX is 40 lbs for both monitors. That means that my setup was overweight by 18 lbs.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • gotrice15278,

    My screens weigh 28lbs each.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • LOL thank you I understood :)

    Be blessed!

  • Great review - great product. I just bought dual 24" Samsungs and I'm looking at this as a replacement to my single Ergotron NeoFlex arms. Unfortunately Samsung has opted to use the Vesa MIS-E 200 100 standard which means I have to buy a $20 adapter plate.

Monitors + plates + stands. Ugh!

  • Can you use the arms to move one 24" widescreen monitor above the other 24" widescreen? I saw that you can move the arms up and down, but I'm not sure if it lets you bring one low enough and the other high enough so they are stacked.

  • veggiem0nster,

I can "just" do it with my 24" monitors, but then it looks wierd and isn't that adjustable. Ergotron does have a unit that more easily allows the one-above-the-other configuration.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • BTW, anyone considering getting this stand or something similar may want to also order some longer DVI cables or whatever type you are currently using. You may also consider longer power cords too although that's easy to remedy with a cheap extension cord or powerbar .

  • Thanks for the excellent review, certainly the best I have seen on this product. I'm buying one! :D

  • Did I hear the end correctly, there is no 'ubergeek without jew' ?

  • lol... Catholics are doing technology reviews now?

    The world is ending!!! AAAHH

  • Father what software were you using on the screen for your video. It looked like your recording software and was about 5 frames behind. Thanks

  • bobtiff,

It's Adobe Premier Pro CS4. It definitely does delay the frames on ALL the computers we've tried it on. They must have added it as a 'feature' in this version of APP since the old Premier we were using didn't have any lag at all.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Father. Are you a Filipino?

  • Yup.

  • Sir Very fluent ha! hehehe! Sir If i have questions I will consult you ha! Thanks! God Bless!

  • Great review

I have the product and would recomd it to anyone.

I purchased this due to the size of my room. By removing my table and keeping a wireless keyboard and mouse it has maximized space which could be nused for other things. I wanted to know though what happens if you put a 30" monitor? will it be as flexible?

  • ERISBEAUTY,

Hmm.... I wouldn't recomend a 30" monitor just because it would severly contrain the motion of the arms. You would have extend the arms to 2/3 of their travel just to get to the 30" mounting point and then there's no much left for positioning and adjustment.

If you do it, send us pictures and let us know how it worked!

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Same to you Fr.Robert!

I will as soon as I get my head around picking the ideal monitor.

Thanks for quick response. Keep up the good work

  • Thanks for this video. I've been looking at this product for a while now, and after stumbling across this video I have finally decided to purchase it. Very good review showing exactly what I needed to see... installation and functionality.

I'll report back with how I like the LX

  • the only problem is if your desk is a piece of shit

    your fucked

but they do have wall mounts =D

  • TheBlitz1,

Yeah... If you've got a $30 desk you're probably not going to want to mount $800 worth of equipment on it! :)

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • thats fo shizo

  • Great review thank you very much.

  • cool

  • As always Fr. Robert, stellar review...you should be tv host...you are a natural!

  • Thanks EminentGeek! :)

  • Bought one for my desk. I'm going to get another for my XBOX setup if it works right.

  • Nice review. Thank you

  • I see that you are using Dell monitors, and i'm helping my mom buying a new computer and i'm thinking about Dell Inspiron 530 and are wondering if it's any good?

She's prepared to spend about $1000, my mom is 60 years old and she doesent need a über geek pc.

To make a long story short, is Dell any good?

  • Dell Ultrasharp monitors are the best as far as consumer monitors go. Dell and Apple are the best, you just pay a bit extra for apple's name and aesthetics

  • Ultrasharp?

Is that Dell in general or a certain Dell series?

  • No that's the upper class of dell. But all dell monitors are good... There are regular dell, then Dell Ultrasharp

  • Ahaa!

    Thank's!

  • Nickwell22,

Thanks for helping our a brother uberGeek. bigbzon would do well to listen to your advice! :)

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Hey, your vid helped me decide on ergotron, so I thought I'd help ya answer some questions.

  • You should use an affiliate program to link directly to the products you talk about.

  • Want! ^_^

  • $220.00! X_X

  • Expensive, but they'll outlast your monitors.

  • Now that's the monitor arm I wanted to buy 15 years ago. Instead I got an arm that had about 2 degrees of motion, was ugly and didn't support my 14" crt very well.

I might very well be buying one of these new fangled doohickeys.

    Thanks Father Robert

  • I'm the 14th cylon..

  • great product... i hope the price drops so I can convinced my wife for another toy.

  • you can get it in ebay for less than $200.00

  • $200? That's not really a lot considering the use you'll get from it. I'd love to have it, but I'm always on a laptop rather than a desktop, so I really wouldn't have much use for it.

  • excellent device

  • cool video A+++++++++++++++++++++++

  • Great review. Loved seeing Torchwood in the background.

  • qiranger,

Nice! --- I was wondering how long it would take a fellow uberGeek to recognize Torchwood. :)

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Comment removed

  • i well get it soon thank you

  • That is awesome, getting this one for sure,

My whole desk is taken up by monitor stands.
