Great review, you mentioned that your Dell LCD's were just over the limit, by how much? I have two benq 241W's and they weigh in at (without the oem stand) 22.4 lbs (10.2 kg), I wonder if that's just too heavy for it?
Hi, I'm wondering how close can you get any one of the displays to you? I'm considering using this arm with a Cintiq UX2 (a graphic tablet display) but also have a standard LCD. Could you bring it down to you, say at keyboard level?
Fr. Robert - thank-you for this review, it was very informative. Now that I've bought one, I certainly agree with everything you say about the LX. I've now got my twin 24" BX2440 Samsungs off my desk saving loads of space. Fantastic review. God bless you!
Love your reviews :) I know that the DX can handle one 30" LCD, but then I'd have to buy two from Ergotron. I'd rather get this one if it can handle 30" LCD + Laptop setup. My LCD is this - Gateway XHD3000 Weight: Monitor: 20.8 lbs / 9.4 kg Speaker Bar: 3lbs / 1.3kg Dimensions: 22.24 W x 17.02 H Your thoughts? Is the "ARM" where the LCD installs long enough? Can it hold the "weight" & "MOMENTUM" (Given the bigger size, increased length from center)

If I put 2 laptops on both the mounting arms, could I move one laptop above another? Or for this I should use the other one they had?
Basically I am looking at this as a way the laptops up and away from where I work for most of the time and then move into range if I want to work on it, plug / unplug stuff.

you are saying it can be found online at $220.00 I tried looking up, I found one for $247.00 on ergodirect website but it doesn't look like the one you are showing in your video. The description is the same: "Ergotron 45-245-026 LX Dual Side-by-Side Desk Mount LCD Monitor Arm 45245026
" but it looks different. Where can I find the one you are showing?
BTW - I ended up getting the Ergotron LX (previous model) it was $50 cheaper than the one you reviewed, but just as effective. Thx again for a thorough review.
@gadgettts Yes, I have one stand at the moment for the iMac, but i need 2 Monitors to work easerly with cubase 5. The iMac wight is 13,9Kg and the Samsungs 10Kg, so I read about 19Kg for that LX Dual Stand and only with 24" Monitors, so I´m a little bit nervous if I buy that LX DUAL STAND over Internet? I have bought and install the Vesa mount on the mac.
Thanks for the review, but what the hell did I stumble onto for comments???
McGenetics, what is the basis for your original post? Did I miss a sermon somewhere in the middle of the video??? Or did you just feel the need to vent?
Thanks for watching... I hope you'll enjoy some of our other reviews!
As for some of the comments about faith/Jesus/religion/etc, I'm used to them. Some people have a genuine question about why a Catholic Priest is playing with tech. Others need to vent their anger about the Jesuits/Catholic/Believers. Still others just like to cause grief. -- I never take it too personally.
.
Peace,
Fr. Robert
P.S. If you play the video backwards, you WILL hear my sermon. ;-)
Great review! How far do the 'elbows' stick back behind the desk in various positions? I ask because my desk is pushed right up against the wall. Will that severely restrict my ability to position the monitors if I don't leave a certain amount of clearance between the desk and the wall?
That WILL be a problem. The elbows need AT LEAST 6" of travel behind the plain of the mount in order to function properly. I have the same problem with my desk and my solution was to remove one of the dogbones so that one side of the stand was shorter than the other. Then I was able to position the monitors to the side of center, keeping the proper level between them.
It's not perfect, but if you've got no space behind the desk, it still works OK.
Thanks for the clarification. I suppose I could mount the base further into the desk (further from the wall) to get back some of the lost space, but I'd obviously be giving up some desk space to do so. For now, this might be academic, since my wife just proposed a spending freeze. :)
It's "The Society of Jesus" -- AKA, "The Jesuits" -- That's the name of the religious order to which II belong. Depending on who you ask, we are either the group of philosophers, artists, doctors, lawyers and educators who are responsible for much of the modern system of education... or we're a despotic group of illuminati conspiring to bring about the New World Order.
.
All I know is that I'm a priest, and a geek, and ashamed of neither.
That's actually my point exactly... Why is it that the same people who criticize and bemoan the intolerance of faith... ANY FAITH... are often the ones who will so often summarily judge the worth of another?
.
According to your first post, you "got to the part about jesus and hit the back button" -- Really? Knowing nothing about me? Or my knowledge of tech? Or my stand on same sex marriage/abortion/etc.
To judge me based on your opinions of the Catholic Hierarchy in the Vatican makes about as much sense as me judging you as a Caucasian... in other words, I assume nothing about people I've just met, prefering to let their actions speak for themselves...
I really enjoyed this video and decided to get one of these for myself. However, everyone should be forewarned that they stealthy changed the size of the base pole without changing the part number. The justification I received via email was that they believe this is fine because it "doesn't affect the function of the arm." Anyway, this SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the height of your monitors and is a definite drawback for this product.
awesome review, i'm thinking of getting the MX arms for my imac 27 inch! I was a bit paranoid though cause the MX carries only less than 30 lbs and the new imac is a bit over 30... by how much was it over weight?
Great review - great product. I just bought dual 24" Samsungs and I'm looking at this as a replacement to my single Ergotron NeoFlex arms. Unfortunately Samsung has opted to use the Vesa MIS-E 200 100 standard which means I have to buy a $20 adapter plate.
Can you use the arms to move one 24" widescreen monitor above the other 24" widescreen? I saw that you can move the arms up and down, but I'm not sure if it lets you bring one low enough and the other high enough so they are stacked.
I can "just" do it with my 24" monitors, but then it looks wierd and isn't that adjustable. Ergotron does have a unit that more easily allows the one-above-the-other configuration.
BTW, anyone considering getting this stand or something similar may want to also order some longer DVI cables or whatever type you are currently using. You may also consider longer power cords too although that's easy to remedy with a cheap extension cord or powerbar .
It's Adobe Premier Pro CS4. It definitely does delay the frames on ALL the computers we've tried it on. They must have added it as a 'feature' in this version of APP since the old Premier we were using didn't have any lag at all.

I bought one...thanks for posting this review.
