  • @nismopwr Hoss is the boss.

  • I never liked tool, but like karnivool.. hmmmmmmmmm

  • Brace yourselves. Newbie Indian Vool fans incoming.

heard them a cople of years back. Tool is way more complex technically , whereas karnivool relies more on 6/8 and 7/8 , but kenny sings better :)

  • Like this if you saw them live in Mumbai couple of hrs back :)

  • Ok so I just discovered this band... MUY BUENO

  • Cause they're Prog they sound like Tool? Come on now, Tool wasn't the first Prog band and they're not the last. Tool took alot of influence from the bands that came before them, who gives a fuck, they're all great.

  • I'm sorry but BB King is much better. lol jk Dont know why ppl compare two bands that are different.

  • I think Maynard's voice is easily better, more distinctive and stays with you after you hear it alot more

  • I'm a mad mad Tool fan. This DOESN'T sound like Tool at all.

@sairamsridharaa Mood Indigo ehh? Me too!

  • Who gives a fuck if it sounds like tool. I AM A HUGE TOOL FAN. And I am happy as long as many bands brings out stuffs similar to tool. And Gonna watch these guys this december!! \m/

  • In my opinion, Tool is the best band. But when I heard Karni for the first time, I was thrilled! Really like them! Keep rockin` guys!!! U make me get chills!

  • @ImOutsideTheBox there are some parts that make no sense. Which makes it awesome. And Jesus people tool and karnivool sound nothing alike. I love both bands but I'm not comparing. And this isn't the only hard rock song on the album there's Goliath and simple boy. Dude the last minute of Goliath makes me jizz my pants

  • @mrlukeh ha I was thinking that the whole time.

  • what is karnivool? what is tool? all i hear is this great music, who gives a #%ck under what name or category it was made. Stop arguing and comparing artists to each other. No-one compares Dali to Van Cogh even though they both were painters. Shut up and enjoy the art.

    Great song, though.

  • @muyfacka amen to that

  • Tool is one of my all time favorite bands. Just discovered these guys, and there's no denying the resemblance. Still they are far from just a copy band and they write extremely good songs. Just enjoy the music as it is, there's nothing more to it really.

  • Shaggy's band are rocking!

  • Just to clear up this tool vs Karnivool fight, I saw tool live last year, just horrible.. karnivool fucking tops! Ian Kenny is FUCKING AMAZING

  • this is not metal....

maynard would look at this guy dead

  • this is not metal....

  • man i wish the whole album was like this... but this is the only hard rock song on it.

  • Comment removed

  • Karnivool and Tool are very, very similar. They both make good music.

  • the music sounds nothing like tool. stop basing stuff on the lyrical content only. he doesnt sound like maynard, guitar is nothing in the style of jones, same for the drums and bass. why does everyone have to try and make comparisons?

also these guys are in fact, quite awesome

  • I enjoy both Karnivool and Tool. They're both great in their own way, deal with it.

  • FUCK TOOL. GO KARNIVOOL YOU FUCKHEADS

  • does anyone know the time signature of this song?

  • @ImOutsideTheBox

Most of it is 4/4, and Im too lazy to relisten to it, but I think there's a part in 7/4?

  • That drum intro is just insane!

  • Love the buzzing insecty sound.

  • holy shit that was amazing!!!!

  • without a doubt the strongest band to come out of Australia in a long time. Masterpiece after masterpiece, Fuck the Tool vs Vool argument both bands are amazing, Vool have their own sound with amzing lyrics and tight music. Long live Karnivool

  • I agree, Tool are pretty good

  • hey guys guess what? this is Karnivool not Tool, so fuck off

  • I hate Tool, like A Perfect Circle, and love Karnivool. OmG flame me.

    Grow up people.

  • hifi brisbane fuck yes!!!

  • fuuuckin aussie rock ..

    nothing but the best...

  • This is just some good ole prog rock. The whole album isn't about this harder edge.

  • If you give a millilon monkey's a type writer each one will eventually write the works of Shakespear. EVEN IF (and i'm not saying they're not, i'm not saying they are) there is a tool influence to karnivool, the fact that they may sound similar could just be purely coincidental because there are only so many sounds that can be made.

And either way, who gives a fuck? tool are great, karnivool are great. Vool's singing > Tool. Tool's technical ability > Vool. IMO ofc.. Children, the lot of you.

  • i grew up on tool & im proud when someone shows influence. artists will respect this -those who do not create cannot understand this. ive listened to them & primus since early 90s when everyone hated em both -& now im happy to see their influence passed down -karnivool isnt copying anything -theyre doin a good job of making their own sound -they could be way more blatant about it like some others

  • @prsoad777

who hated tool and primus in the nighties... i don't know who you were hanging around with.

  • Wow, after reading the comments you'd think it was illegal for artists to have influences. I love bands that I enjoy listening to. Why does it matter if you can hear the influence of another band in their music? That's all it is, an influence. You want a band that sound exactly like Tool then check out Prisma.

  • 0:19 gościu ma zapalenie stawu łokciowego

  • I love the staggered rhythms and extra bar lengths in this song. It really gives it something!

  • Who is Tool? Never even heard of them probably British

  • @pappachook well, to make an analogy, if this band is a bunch of ants, Tool are pillaging viking gods.

  • @WinterXL Was just kidding i know who there are old chap ;)

  • who givas a fuck about whos better, tool or karnivool?

cant you just like both¿ :D

  • Either a lot of you have never heard of Tool or seen them live or you just have horrible hearing. Karnivool sounds nothing like Tool but you can clearly hear the influence. Also where I come from, usually when you are compared to the best (Tool) it's a compliment. This song is awesome by the way I can't believe it wasn't popular on US radio.

  • Why cant everyone just see music for what it is... every one draws inspiration from somewhere and in my honest opinion Tool and Karnivool are two of the only bands that are truly exploring all that music has to offer.

The people that bash Karnivool for being "Tool rip offs" listen to bands like Lady GaGa...obviously there are some that are excluded

  • This song is so fuckin' groovin!! I can't get enough of this band!

  • ok karivool is my new fav band srry dead poetic but these guys got more fav songs than u guys

  • Deftones or Disturbed? Are you kidding me? 2 bands which sound nothing alike? Strings, drums or vox wise?! Terrible example.

  • so birds of tokyo is like tools a perfect circle. i love the comparasin game. What i know is the singer had too albums from to different bands come out strong at the same time, touring with karnivool then going again straight after with the birds. thats dedication to music. sure this dude hasnt stopped. Been listening to karinvool since 03 Fuckin awesome band, and yes im a tool fan aswell but who isn't

  • @MrJbonez1 Im not, Tool are just a little overated for my tastes. Their earlier stuff was cool, but... Well you've got ears...

And Mr Kenny can sing the fuck out of a song... actually they can all play the fuck out of a song :)

  • @refugeesus F#*$ yes he can i guess everyone here debating Is just piontless but atleast we all have the right think in common and that is we all like metal/ hard rock bands with singers that can actually sing. I'm over the brutal shit these days. and love heavy music with a twist and singers that can provide it. like the mars volta, the birds. tool. apc, butterfly effect, .hinge, dead letter circus and of course these guys. mostly aussie bands too.. check out the red paintings aswell

  • @refugeesus You are the first person I've seen on youtube (or anywhere for that matter) to say Tool is overrated. I completely agree. There are a decent band, but are not the most innovative musicians in the world. I feel bad for these great bands that are just in the shadows of Tool's giant, 18-eyed, green, metalic-looking, Native-american looking aura of decent music mixed with tons of expirimental noise. Just when I thought music couldn't get TOO creative. This band is better than Tool, IMO.

  • @klearlykahmerican No way in hell is tool overrated. Do you hear the shit that is coming out today? Tool is one of few 90s bands that are even listenable anymore. Have you even seen them live to say they are overrated? If you haven't seen them live you probably shouldn't be allowed to voice your opinion...regardless of free speach and all that crap.

  • @420Guitar420 90's?

  • @refugeesus Yeah fair call it was there ealier stuff that gave us there best songs such as sober and parobala but i guess being a visual artist fan there film clips made them that much better for me. Adam Jones with his other skills as a make-up artist creating fucking awesome trippy designs and characters. aside from that Ian Kenny is the man.. Wish that Karnivool would produce another album and tour more and give the birds a little break. Btw check out my new vid Scumbags and Superstars Cheers

  • If you'd like to see more ridiculous Karnivool vs. Tool arguments, scroll down now!

  • @refugeesus The guitarist can also sing the fuck out of a song! How ridiculous is his voice on the Sleeping Satelite cover!!!!

  • they sound nothing alike

  • look, karnivool and tool sound similar. There, done. Stop arguing and enjoy the music.

  • Comment removed

  • I've never heard of these guys. Thanks for posting.

  • lmao its like every band i even have a passing interest in has this big debate over who they sound like or who they're ripping off...

    satellite radio FTW b

  • Comment removed

  • Oh plz!!!.If you can't hear the similarities btw Karnivool and Tool, you're just DEAF.

Plus, there's nothing wrong with it...both are GREAT bands that write AMAZING EPIC music. This shouldn't be debate at all.

I hear a lot of Mars Volta and some Meshuggah in Karnivool. (here comes the rocks)

  • one hell of a fucking fine band.....

  • There ya go

    "Vicarious"

    Single by Tool

    from the album 10,000 Days

    Released April 17, 2006

December 18, 2007 (CD and DVD)

    Format Compact Disc, vinyl

    Recorded August–December 2005

    Genre Progressive metal

  • Karnivool and Tool both have their things. Ian Kenny is a god. Thats the end of the discussion

  • For fucks sake, every damn Karnivool video, scroll down and there it is, the Tool vs Karnivool debate. Getting pretty damn sick of it to be honest, does it really matter if they sound similar or not? In my personal opinion, yes there is a clear Tool influence here, but thats it, its an influence. You cant really deny there is a similarity, what are you completley tone deaf??? But i dont really give a shit, does it matter? Just shut up, listen and enjoy the musicianship of both bands.

  • @Bengiuk88 Hell yeah brother!!!!!!!!

  • @Bengiuk88

I agree, it's just so stupid and pointless: if they sound similar, then they were probably influenced by Tool-and can't we all agree that Tool's a bad ass band and that Karnivool could've been influenced by something shitty? So I say stfu about the similarities guys and listen to this amazing band =]

  • @Bengiuk88 If you're going to have an influence... They honestly do have an original sound, f*%kin seriously, its like someone saying "oh they have Beatles influences" Tool were and are AMAZING! Of course they are going to have an impact on all musicians who come after them!

    With you mate

  • @Bengiuk88 bout time someone said it. every band has a little bit of other bands in em. we want to make music we like, and we only know what we like because we heard someone else do it. monkey see monkey do. oh and for the record, tool isn't the be all and end all of music. grow the fuck up.

  • @Bengiuk88 very well said!! D@mn freaks really have to look up what's the difference between Competition and Co-existence! kampaiii! lol

  • @Bengiuk88 A - FUCKING - MEN

god it's like too much of this music is a BAD THING FFS, JUST ENJOY IT while karnivool produce

    masterpiece after masterpiece, FUCK!!!

  • @Bengiuk88 Don't scroll down dude!

  • people are only comparing these guys to tool cuz of the eerie effects and the singer sounds like maynard in a few instances

but really they dont sound THAT much like tool at all

  • These guys have some songs that sound like tool - thats not a bad thing. not all of their songs sound like tool though. they are a solid sounding band and their influences show. pretty sure thats teh same for any good band :P

  • Karnivool could not POSSIBLY be any better than tool. Every tool song sounds the same. Talented guys, obviously... they have their own sound... but Karnivool rock so much harder. So much more diverse and melodic. This track rocks so hard, can't wait to see what they do next!

  • @alexcaminitiYou haven't heard much Tool lol, or you have poor hearing, tell me Jambi sounds anything like 10,000 days, or ticks and leeches sounds like lateralus.

  • @alexcaminiti

    I totally agree with you.

  • driving bass lines, odd time signatures and similar vocals, if i was trying to describe them to someone from the states i'd say Vool is similar to Tool and visa versa, what order you put them in is just diction.

  • @azurict They are in the same genre as Tool. However Tool is more metal. But they sound nothing like Tool. Karnivool is more experimental and with not so booring riffs.

  • @Vool5 LOL Tool is not metal..... they are full on progressive rock! in fact they are one of the bands that help define the genre.. the only thing metal is the alloy used to make Danny Carey's Drum Kit :P ....

  • @Timmydope Progressive metal, they have plenty of metal songs.

  • @Tinkytanky LOL name 1 example of a tool "metal" song!! if you think there is any you really have to study up on the genres a bit more!! anyways.. not trolling over this......waste of breath

  • @Timmydope

    PLENTY

Vicarious, Schism, Parabola, and the list goes ON AND ON.

  • @Tinkytanky MAte all you are doing is proving to the internet how ignorant and unknowledgeable you are.. those songs are all prog-rock.. nothing metal about them.. read up bro!!

  • @Timmydope Progressive Metal

  • @Timmydope Now go cry to mommy that ur wrong, stupid f.

  • im gonna set fire to whoever disliked this

  • @squirel130 Dont bother, alex is allready on fire, and when im not listening to karnivool, I set my friends on fire

  • This song is like a drug for me. I can't stop listening.. >=]

  • Sounds like a damn good song =)))

And no, it doesnt sound like Tool at all... Absurd how people always feel the need to compare everything and anything.

  • soooooo F* good!!!

  • This song = Deftones Passenger

  • you guys always have the best videos

  • I love it.. I think it sounds kinda like some old Merle Haggard.. .

  • Good song.

People need to stop arguing on about nonsense (i.e. 4 pages of comparing Tool and Karnivool). Just enjoy the things you take the time to search out and watch.

  • karnivool>tool

  • wtf? sounds nothing like tool. what an insult. just another alt rock band with very expensive looking videos and verse chorus verse formulaic radio friendly material. maynard would laugh so hard he'd have cramps.

  • @kharnvelzyghur Just another Alt Rock band!? Your kidding yourself. While I agree they don't sound like Tool, you cannot diss them either, Karnivool are brilliant in their own way. I was a Tool fan before I heard Karnivool too, so no bias...

  • @sangadog Check out a karnivool live show - they absolutely destroy and are one of the few bands who sound better live then on their recordings. Unbelievable musicianship. And yes, I have seen Tool live for anyone who wants to draw pointless comparisons.

  • @feedingear Yeh man, I've seen them live a couple of times, they along with my other fave band Muse, sound unbelievable live! Probably some of the best live acts in the world, cannot wait for Tool to finish my trifecta this coming January!

  • this song<3

  • Fuck me in the face that was good!!!!!

  • @00Ibanezist00 lol

of course it was good, its karnivool

  • Do we need to compare who sounds like who? These guys rock hands down. Saw them at a small club with Fair to Midland, awesome show.

  • So what if they are a bit like tool, the singer move's like maynard but thats about it.... Karnivool are fuckin wicked so you all can suck on my love spuds haha!

Tool and Karnivool don't sound anything like each other...Aussie Pride!

  • i like the rainbow song by Kermit the frog.

  • the illuminatis will lose! It's nice to know you'r with us!

    OPEN YOUR EYES!

  • amazing song!!

  • Ultimate respect for these guys for standing up against the Illuminati. The video and lyrics are so well thought out. Keep doing what you're doing guys. I wish i was still in australia.

  • karnivool like tool? i dont know. i am really torn. i dont mind them but i see more resemblances to linkin park which is kind of vile. it's perhaps a bit whingy too be like tool. tol are far more a tripped out blah blah.

  • 2o Dislikes see a Fucking Mental Phyisian!

  • This video is great!!

  • I know somepeople do not understand music and are tone deaf but man this band sounds nothing like tool. Besides tool is gone. Stop living in the past. Besides they sound more like korn (ha ha) but a lot better and off the prozac and zoloft nut meds that korn take everyday.

  • TOOL AND KARNIVOOL ARE SO SIMILAR!! only because they're both amazing. Thats it. Nothing more, nothing less.

  • Tool and karnivool are fair different but its kinda hard to describe what karnivool is to someone that doesnt know them, so i think its a fair comparison, theres no other band more famous than Karnivool that you can compare karnivool to.

  • sounds more like incubus than anything else. imean tool? really?

  • These guys are fab! And nothing like TOOL? Very cool indeedy..

  • Karnivool kicks major amounts of ass!

  • Okay, everybody really has to shut up about the whole Tool thing. Karnivool sounds like Karnivool, and it rocks. Everybody has an influence, perhaps they listened to a bit of Lateralus before heading into the studio? I don't know. Nevertheless, nothing can sound truly unique, because eeeeeeverybody has to compare it to something else! Cut it out and just enjoy the tunes!

...on a different topic, am I at all alone in thinking that Ian Kenny looks a lot like Shaggy from Scooby Doo in this clip?

  • @Scion85 Indeed! Shaggy!

  • Any one that reakons these guys and tool are the same have brains the size of peanuts...

  • anyone have the guitar tab? plz can i have

  • Why are people comparing this band to Tool? Are you actually being serious? I would have thought if you listened to Tool, then surely you would be able to pick the fact these 2 bands have VERY different prog rock styles. Surely, no Tool fan worth his/her salt thinks they sound like Karnivool?

  • i dont think they sound like tool at all. shut up with that shit.

  • Wait, I just read below here that someone was comparing these guys and tool? Seriously? WHERE are the similarities? They're COMPLETELY different for crying out loud.

  • Fuck anyone who doesn´t think the way I do, hope you all die off and I can remain by myself savoring being right ( rolls eyes)

  • Hahaha! I dont think you can compare this to tool. If this would be a tool song, it would be a calmer song. Karnivool is just perfect the way it is.

  • @apathyguitarist No there are many tool songs that are not calm ; ) listen to the grudge, hooker with a penis, jambie etc ; )

  • @apathyguitarist p s tool is not calm ; )

  • @apathyguitarist LOOL !! Tool is not calm at all............ there is only Pushit / 10 000days / the patient etc! listen to vicarious.... Forty six and 2 you'll see this is not calm at all !

  • i love complicated songs like this, which has so many parts and the structure is not the classic AABA pop song structure.

  • @maroonhero Listen to Tool ! its pretty much more "Worked" then this !!

  • haikus are easy

but sometime they dont make sense

    refridgerator

  • on a different note to all this comparing bullshit, does anyone else think that the singer looks like shaggy from scooby doo in this video? :P

  • Im with this guy bellow me

  • Comparing this to Tool is like comparing Disturbed to the Deftones. Only a fucking idiot trying to look perceptive would say. Not because its relevent but simply to define his own sense of self absorbtion. Fuck off and die posers.

  • @deprofundis110 fair game for anyone who compares this to Tool, for a lack of anything more similar to describe it

  • @deprofundis110 tool.

  • The only thing you can compare them to Tool with is that mood, that vibe that their music instills in you, like a cold chill throughout your body, before a massive explosion of rockin passion deep within your soul. Absolutely love both bands!

  • I hate people who say you can't compare Karnivool with Tool,

it's true that they aren't similar in many aspects, and that makes them comparable,

you can't compare an apple with an apple, because they aren't different so there's nothing to compare,

so you CAN compare Karnivool withTool, for example, both bands have long and dynamic songs

  • @Phunxk someone should compare you to a retard.

  • @kchorton2 Just tried to make a point, there's no need for swearing, we all like Karnivool and by saying 'you can't compare Karnivool with anything else, because it's so f*cking great' we like to point out that Karnivool is the best.

I just said that you can compare Karnivool with Tool, just like you can compare a dog with a fridge...

  • @Phunxk I didn't swear? retard.

  • tool and karnivool are not comparable. They both kick ass and they both have musical talent. they dont sound similar at all

  • Alternative metal is a very interesting genre, caus the bands in it are barely compared and noone really knows they are all of the same genre, Tool, System Of A Down, Stone Sour, Slipknot, Faith No More, Rage Against The Machine, they are never really put in the same boat and they all have very unique sounds...

  • His weird little man boobies are disturbing me.... lol

  • Best song on the album.

If you have not seen these guys live, you should seriously question what your doing with your life.

  • wtf whos comparing them to tool. lol they don't even come from the same country. fair enough they love thier off beat times but i'm not going to start comparing these guys to the likes of tool, system of a down or even dreamtheater they have an original sound. if you want to start talking about music that sounds the same just have a look at techno :)

  • @jmarowell lol, 'they dont even come from the same country', how is that even an arguement. People from australia, including bands, listen to music from overseas, and therefore influences from other countries. thats a pretty common thing if you ask me. Im not saying tool sounds the same as karnivool by the way.

  • I rarely comment on vids but this statement."but personally I find these guys a LOT more interesting than Tool".

Wow, the ignorance... This band is good, but they are not even in the same universe as TOOL. That gave me a good laugh.

  • @Morilla33

You know what gives me a good laugh? Pots calling kettles black.

"My opinion is sooo totally more valid than yours."

    Grow up.

  • @Morilla33 You should really pay more attention to Tool man, I love both of these bands but Tool's music is more interesting ( In my opinion and with all due respect)

  • @destroysubgenres That's what my comment was towards. I was reading posts on how people were commenting on how these guys were more interesting than Tool. No way, if you think that you are either A. A homer of the band or B. uneducated about music. Or both. Don't get me wrong these guys are good, but they are no way in the shape or form of Tool.

  • Easy on Bible storm :) I'm not jizzing in my pants over a game. Just making a statement.... Plus I think my wife would kill me if I brought home a drum kit :) Though I am very keen to learn, its still fun to be able live out the rock dream in my own little world. Take a chill pill mate and enjoy some of the best sounds around :)

  • ....Ian Kenny has got a scary body...

  • @TekkenRulezz i agree...love with his clothes on..

is he just rly hairy or skinny? ...idnt know whats going on there...

  • I hope they put this on Guitar Hero :) I'd love to have a crack at this on the drums. Karnivool rule. My new fav band. Epic sounds

  • Why not buy a drum kit and try it out on that? Rock band will never be as good as playing the real thing

  • @braufen

agreed, as a musician i hate that game.

this guy's drum skills are ridiculous, as is the rest of the band. i mglad talented people like them are still making original music.

  • @braufen danm d\straight brother.. or sister?? haha. real kiks mother f******ass!!!
