the Defence is allowed to push people in front of the net. Yes he pushed a bit harder than necessary but it was not a crosscheck it was a 2hand push on a Ranger leaning forward watching the play.
The call at 0:16 is a bit sketchy. On one hand he barely bumped Straka, but he did hit him enough to slow him down and keep him from keeping pace with the puck carrier.
The 1st is justifiable as a no call, the 2ndcould go either way.
If you are looking for biasd reffing, look at auger-burrows
Just throwing it out there, It is possible for refs to miss calls. If he's only watching the puck, he shouldn't be reffing in the NHL. So give the guy a break, you make some calls, you miss some. Feel free to tie up the skates and stab at it there tough guy.

@kllklklklklklklklklk if you want my honest opinion, the refs were right on both plays. I am neither a Pittsburgh or New York fan, so i am not being bias. The first hit has him clearing the crease, refs are very relaxed about this and you probably know that if you watch hockey. also the New York player looks like he embellished alittle on that play to try and draw a penalty. The actually penalty was caused from lazy back checking, and he deserved it.

I thought that the first one looked like a cross check, and on another 5 exact plays you might see it called 2 or 3 times...
But that brings me to my earlier point. Its the inconsistency that bugs me. Not these 2 particular plays. They call the games hard till the all star break, then let the teams play the rest of the season, until the playoffs, then call hard again.

the problem w/ the 2 refs is; they each have a different opinion on what a penalty is. when the puck was in the Pens zone the ref up ice is watching behind the play and the ref behind the net is watching the front of the net. They go up ice and now the ref that wasn't watching the first one calls the 2nd one. What's the point on having 2 ref, if they can't be consistant? At least w/ 1 ref you knew how the officiating would be called all game.

Hey what can you do, you are playing the Pens. You cannot complain about the calls. It's fair throughout the league. When you play the Pens, your team is not allowed to touch any of them, especially crosby, but they can do anything they like. They are the only team allowed to play with 6 men on ice and the only team with a captain who refuses to hit and crys every time he is hit.

well, its pretty clear... the rangers player takes a dive in front of the net. then later on, a rangers player skates into a guy without the puck and slows him down.. easy interference call. I dont think he meant to tangle him up that much but he still did it. keep crying though.

@IWreckYouNow I've been watching since 1995 and I feel like reffing was mostly alright until the lockout. After 2005 it just feels like the league is shady all around. Its not like they have anything against the Wings. Its just Detroit doesn't need to win any cups to gain fans. Wings winning a cup doesn't do much for the NHL. But say some loser team like Colombus wins a cup...it would be massive for the league in general. Its pisses me off and makes me not want to watch anymore.

life being a flyers and rangers fans are tough. we both don't get the calls and are long due for a cup. i think the league started hating the rangers when wyane gretzky didn't do shit for the rangers, and the flyers had the choice between peter forseberg and lindros back before each of them had careers and we chose lindros. that was a bonehead move on our part. we still get our balls busted on us for that. league just hates stupid teams i guess. but we are both shaping good seasons this year.

@jwb864 kind of figured it out. flyers have always been one of the badest teams in hockey. we were the only nhl team ever to beat red army and we did it in a slap shot kind of way. this year we got rid of most of our tough guys. all we have left is a scott heartnell, wyane simmonds, zach rinaldo, and a better behaved jodey shelly. so i kind of figured this organiziation is trying to go coup bound by siging all these "not tough guys"

the problem w/ the 2 refs is; they each have a different opinion on what a penalty is. when the puck was in the Pens zone the ref up ice is watching behind the play and the ref behind the net is watching the front of the net. They go up ice and now the ref that wasn't watching the first one calls the 2nd one. What's the point on having 2 ref, if they can't be consistant? At least w/ 1 ref you knew how the officiating would be called all game.

Hits in front of the net are forgivable. Refs usually let any off the play hit near the crease go. Open ice hold ups are penalties any day however.

Hey what can you do, you are playing the Pens. You cannot complain about the calls. It's fair throughout the league. When you play the Pens, your team is not allowed to touch any of them, especially crosby, but they can do anything they like. They are the only team allowed to play with 6 men on ice and the only team with a captain who refuses to hit and crys every time he is hit.

The first one wasn't a penalty.. It's a rough sport. And whoever was in front of the net seemed to embellish it a bit. The second did seem like a weak call in that situation though.
