  • Urban blight is encroaching on Johnson County anyway. I've seen it. When I was a reporter in the Shawnee Mission area, there were all kinds of problems in the older, eastern part of the county. Poverty is slowly growing out from there. And don't forget, there is a huge core of conservatives in the area, especially Olathe. Their views are especially contrary to the rest of the state, because they have no basis in agricultural or farming support.

  • This is my old stomping grounds

  • Johnson County is a Republican dream. One of the most conservative large counties in the United States. What is funny though is that it is located within a marginally Republican congressional district represented by Dennis Moore, but Kevin Yoder will probably win the seat, but he's a pretty moderate Republican. He's no Moran, Tiahrt or Huelskamp.

  • It's ridiculous. Lived in leawood here for 24 years now. There have been needless changes to the suburbs of Kansas City. Overland Park is huge and is almost connected to Olathe. Town Center Plaza area in Leawood is just like another Kansas City Plaza and to think that all of this money and "yuppie" froo froo boutiques , restaurants, etc is in Kansas of all places is difficult for any foreigner of Kansas to believe. Johnson County has money coming in somewhere.
