  • I'd like to see a stop motion film like the Impossibles,or like Kung fu panda,I mean with comedy, and plenty of action, show those CGI artist's how it's really done, still this look's really good though,Ray harryhausen would be Very Proud!

  • does anybody know what camera this was shot on????

  • i accidentaly found the book on which the movie is based in the library of our town. the movie and the book are both really great, the movie even has some more things added which makes the story even better. loved the movie, my brother got really scared of it, I did too, but I did love the movie.

  • this is just amazing!!! all the things they do for making a movie and do not know if it going to be a really succesful movie... they just love what they do and thats the most important thing! i'm studying for movie industry and its amazing!! can wait to become a movie director, producer or screen wirtter!!!! i hpe the world dose not end in 2012 lol!! i have 2 more years pf study! jajajajaajajaj!!! this movie rocks!!!

  • I thought it was animated ;O

    Im so dumb. D;

  • Is it strange that i want really bad to work with this kind of animation?

For me, it looks very nice.

  • @MrStrazzer2010 you mean you want to work with stop motion? not strange at all. i do have to say; it's anything but easy. but if you ever want to work with it, good luck! :] there's a way to practice animating, you just need figures or some sort of bendy to do so with, not to mention a decent-quality camera. :p

  • epic movie

  • awesome movie! (:

  • would give anything to be in one of Tim's clay animation films! Sigh...i wish i could have been coraline

  • i actually prefer this movie over Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride

  • gosh! the process of making the entire movie was done by changing the puppets' positions in every move?! that's just - ! argh! "painful" yeah!

    *hand salute*

  • This movie should have beat UP. I mean, they're both great, but this was sooo original, so cleverly done, and really had a fantastic script. UP was fantastic, though.

(im referring to the oscars, by the way.)

  • I'd love to see coraline II....plsss I love this movie sooo much.

  • looks funny but hard! :D

  • I wonder if they model these scenes with a computer first, like for practise or to see how it'd work, or something. Because it just works so perfectly.

  • how long for every movement I'm always fascinated with the talents. Just seen the movie and i'm amazed by it makes me want to watch other ones

  • O...M...G

  • The face @ 1:09 scared the f**k outta me lol -James :)

  • i own this movie i love it!

  • i find the hardest about this is the hair movement.. other than that.. stop motion is cool!

  • I wonder how they made the stop animation where the other mother transforms into that tall and skinny form?

  • @PrincessMidna001 OH GOD! I'm an animator. Don't even make me think about that!

  • omg thats amazing ,, how long did this take ?

  • this is so difficult to do and time-consuming but it's worth.

  • This is so cool! Love the movie XD

  • that is hard to do.

  • stop motion is the coolest thing but it would be so stressful for me!

  • @DoubleDBlogXX for anyone

  • @MentalPolution lol i know rite!

  • cooool movie

  • They did the exact same technique w/ the Nightmare B4 Cristmas exept this movie seems to be even more intricate and artistic in the set design and movements. I guess after they change expressions for every frame they have to get some kind of paste to seam the lines of the mouthpiece together. Or they just do it in CG. But I think claymation is a superior genre of filmmaking simply because of how tetiously difficult it is combined with how excellent the films turn out to be.

  • sooo cool

  • I saw this movie and I really like to watch it a second time just 2 days later... there might be even a third time...

I don't have that much with movies, but this one just stays absolutely awesome no matter how many times you watch it!

  • omg this is so incredibly hard

  • This movie had such a strangely calming atmosphere. It was like a dream.

  • man I would kill to do this for a career. I would love to do something this intricate and artistic. This movie fascinates me because of the thought behind all the work put into it.

  • Holy fucking shit I would love to see that in action. I was watching the film imagining the hands moving Coraline across the screen. seeing them change her mouth for the conversations, Give these people tremendous props.

  • un-fucking-believably good film !

    10/10

  • "And I'm WAY too old for dolls."

See, it seems that Coraline's too old for dolls, yet fully-grown men and women have played with dolls and puppets for about 6 years just making the movie. xD

  • the mouse part must of ben a bitch

  • REALLY LOVE THE MOVIE!! very good storyline.... is the book still available? where can i buy?

  • what the ... i thought coraline was computer made..and so that it would LOOK like stop motion.. this makes it sooooo much better.. I freakin love these sort of movies!!

  • he said set that shit up !

  • "If the shot's really good, you can bet there's an animator lying on the floor somewhere, huddled up in a ball, probably weeping..."

  • I was that animator.

  • i love how they animate over the 'puppets' to make the film, when your watchin it you dont think about how hard it must have been to make it :L

  • man that movie was good all the worlds and the characters i give it a 4 and a half.

  • looks like fun but tedious. playing with dolls all day.

    i love miniatures.

  • Yeah, animation is extremley tedious and repetitive. Hours of work yield only a few seconds. When I watched the movie, I was constantly amazed by the quality of the animation. I kept thinking how long it must have taken them to do those things.

  • I know! I went to watch it in 3D in the theatres with my mom, and she was so amazed, she didn't even know what was going on- she was paying more attention to the animation than the storyline! ^^

☻_☻: And now, you're going to stay here... forever.

Coraline: No... I'm... (grabs Cat) ... NOT!

  • A ridiculose amount of time. I've been working on my 20 second animation the entire weekend now. I've been sleeping only 3 hours and getting up and going strait to work. I have 5 seconds left.

  • I know how you feel. I used to play around with stop-motion with my webcam when I was twelve (made some pretty neat ones too) and I know first hand that it's a tedious process. It sucks for me even worse because I'm kind of an impatient artist. And that can be said about my flash animations, drawings, and Tubo-cad designs.

Making ten seconds of film takes like 7 minutes!!!!! But if your carefull and attenative the result is really cool!

  • @arandomperson3 WHOA!!! you can do ten seconds of film in 7 minutes?!!! You must be the fastest animator on the planet!! or the universe. On average, an animator takes an entire week working 10 hour to animate 3 seconds.

  • @Buddyb309 Well you got to remember I was a twelve year old kid playing with his somewhat-posable action figures and my shorts were like 2 mins. long. Nothing SOPHISTICATED about them at all! I even made a bunch of office supplies attacking each other once! They were no where near the same DIMENSION of quality as a legitimate claymation pic. There was nothing technical about my crap at ALL! lol

  • @arandomperson3 Thats sweet!!! do you still have the animations you did as a child? I unfortunately lost all of my Lego stop motion I did as a child :-(. Did you end up pursuing the animation field? That's what I'm trying to do right now. I'm constantly making new animations. even though I haven't posted one in a while. I've got caught in this habit of dropping projects.

  • @arandomperson3 dude you serious? If you have 10 secounds of film after 7 minutes, you´re either a super fast animator or uses about 5 fps.....

go to my chanel, look at my most recent video called "ginger´s dont have souls", which is 26 secounds long. Animating those 26 secounds took atleast 5 hours!

  • @Luffse Well you have to realize. I wasn't using any sophisticated foam-puppets or anything I was using crappy action figures, office supplies and play-doe!

  • @dahlight Maybe not that fun after a year or two. For a day, sure. But you really got to work on being tenacious.

  • @dahlight I've done stop motion before. It's awesome.

  • I LOVE IT

  • But they are puppets, in the best sense of the word.

  • puppets is another term and its easier to say puppets then stop motion figures

  • You're thinking of actual puppets, like sock puppets. These "stop motion figures" as you call them are technically called puppets as well.
