The reason they couldn't see the American soldiers is because of the distance and elevation, and to be honest, they probably wasn't even aware of the Americans. Plus they are wearing there sand issue combats.

@WingZeroJe If you hadn't been mistaken for a video game nut before you certainly will now... Either way, the MK11 is pretty accurate up to 500 yards, more than enough for a sniper support role. Sniper teams in modern combat rarely go solo missions where they need long range accuracy to absurd extremes.
The MK11 is perfect for platoons as it does the job and can deal with many targets quickly should the need arise. Bolt actions are mainly used for mission critical targets.

This is how it works. In the US, the Marine Corps is a department of the Navy. The Marine Corps has Marines. That's what they are referred as. If you don't understand, ask them. They aren't afraid to tell you, trust me. In the US, only Army personnel are classified as 'soldiers'....so if you are referring to Army pilots....because they do have helicopters then you would be right, but the other branches (Air Force, Navy, USMC) pilots are not soldiers.

If a recon team is laser designating a target to be bombed, they are facilitating kills. This is how it works. In the US, the Marine Corps is a department of the Navy. The Marine Corps has Marines. That's what they are referred as. If you don't understand, ask them. They aren't afraid to tell you, trust me. In the US, only Army personnel are classified as 'soldiers'....so if you are referring to Army pilots....because they do have helicopters then you would be right, but the other branches (Air Force, Navy, USMC) pilots are not soldiers.

It's not up to the Marine to decide who gets shot or not, if command says "everyone is hostile", then there's a big chance everyone will get shot at. Also, the spotter had fucking binoculars, so I think he saw a weapon.

@hassannassaralah yeah you can't really take much away from this video about the guy's innocence. When a sniper spotter ranges a target, he is facilitating a kill shot. If a recon team is laser designating a target to be bombed, they are facilitating kills. An unarmed scout is as equally responsible for killing as a person with a weapon. if they searched the body, and no radio was found (wouldn't surprise me with these trigger-happy marines), that guy should not be sniping.

But since you insist on being an idiot... If BF3 sniping required as much skill as it does in real life to deliver a killing shot then yes, a single shot would be reasonable.
Further more, a 7.62x51 NATO round will not always kill the target immediately. The enemy can still fight after getting hit. The difference in a video game is there is no lasting effects from getting hit.
