  • this max is good i could sence the anger in his face

  • Dude this is awesome. especially for a 15 year old

  • i thought he did a great job

  • Dang this is one of the best that I've seen. I've tried to find one that was close to the version of Nathan Lain's this is the best I've come across

  • munt

  • 2:03 is Crap!!!

  • Hmm. Not very convincing.

  • nice voice but you need to push it more

  • DUDE! yer effing awsome <3

i love how you acted it out you did an amazing job!!

  • i think you were awesome.

  • You need to COMMAND the stage more and sadly put on quite a bit of weight to be max...specially for the part gimme those books FAT FAT FATTY your skinny as a rail.. but your singing was very very good.

  • cool

  • and whats with that brow? lol

  • You may make a good Leo, but you ain't a Max I'm affraid.

  • Your voice tended to speed up a lot (props to the pianist for following you), so a lot of the jokes were lost in your jumbled words. And your body language could use some work. You seemed very stiff through most of the song.

    Otherwise, good work.

  • I love ur version. And you use the stage wounderfully.

  • this is gay sorry

  • nice job of a unbeleivabley hard song. dont lets the audeinces laugh jeer you on however. you should be auditioning for drama schools i presume.

  • EXCELLENT piano player. and he's reading music!

  • have you seen les miserables? i could see you as marius

  • YES i so can see that too!

  • although i agree with dancingofyourface...you have a wonderfull voice. all you need to do is work on you facial acting and you have a career ahead of you.

  • great singer :D

  • i don't like his interpretation of the scene.

he doesn't use the stage and his acting isn't big enough for max.

    he's a decent singer though

  • yep

  • i agree...but u don't need to be a good enough singer for this song, but it really helps. and ya didn't impress

  • He would have been far better as Leo

  • Yeah, he's just not convincing as a dominant male

  • dude you gotta do the Nathan Lane voice, "BETRAYED!!!!"

  • well hes not a great actor, and he dosnt look much like max, but hes a good singer

  • I love this song but he was a bad actor in a song like this you have to act like your betrayed where's the anger?

  • ah bad

  • bad actor, good singer

  • horrible

  • your fairly good, you chose a good play and a good scene to preform lol keep up the good work and don't loose your past! lmao

  • i thoroughly enjoyed your version, but you're a little too skinny for the role of max, you can't call you fat lol. very good though. very broadway-ey voice. :)

  • I think you may have done a better job as Leo, rather than Max, sweetie. Your voice is more subdued--not like how Max growls a lot when he sings. That and you don't sing with your nose. n_n Keep singing.

  • I liked the singing, but your blocking was a bit lacking. You were very stiff during many parts and it didn't seem like you were putting your all into it at times. Your face was basically the same the whole time. Try to imagine the emotions going through Max's head during each bar of music and emulate that both in your voice and movements/expression.

I did like the part at "intermission". That was great.

  • You're a good singer, but you don't play the part well.

  • Wow. Good job. A little weak in some spots, but pretty good overall. :)

I like the part in the 'intermission' where he looked at his watch. :D Made me crack a smile.

  • This totally sucked! Dude two things, 1 the singing is mediocre, and 2 the character sucked, or rather it was completley one dementional, you had the same face the whole time, and when the flash back satrted, you sounded boored, like you didn't even want to be there. You have put Zero Mostel's glorious character to shame.

  • would have been better if he held the notes like the movie... but still entertaining, and well rehearsed.

  • I think you did a great job!!!

  • that was pretty good. i dont know why the person before me was hating on this so much.

Its not better than Nathan Lane, but who the fuck is?

and the singing was great! It was prolly even better live.

    dont listen to haters!

  • yeah pretty damn bad

one facial expression the whole time

    your voice isnt wonderful

    you really had no character.

you should also work on blocking because you seem to just walk back and forth in what appears to be something your trying to make up while your doing it.

  • Awful, if you want to do this song you need to have more then one facial expression. Also there seems to be a lot of wandering.

  • This guy's laughing at his own jokes! :(

  • mmm....didn't have the angry desperate emotion this song needs. however, great vocals.

  • you are so talented. and you remind me of one of my friends.

  • really good! but i'd peg you as more of a bloom than a bialy...

  • I prefer Lane's version, but this one isn't that bad. :] But he doesn't seem like the type to be Max, maybe a different character?

The guy on the piano is very good too.

  • Gr8 Singing, and i bet your a brill showman, but i must say this isnt your song. Your voice, though lovely, is to bright. Also, i think this song can only really be performed by fat people. i don't know why, but it just seems right when theyr tubby. Mainly because the characters SUPPOSED to be fat, but of course thats not your fault. But you are a gr8 singer, maybe you should try a song done by Leo instead of Max, he has a soft voice and bright song. How About That Face. Very Nice Singing Still

  • he sings well but he doesnt seem angry enough

  • Very nice sounding voice but you forget this is a character song and its lacking slightly.

keep workin on it though bud its good =]

  • Once again, great job! I just didn't feel like it was angry enough.

  • That's What I Said!

  • Great vocals, but I didnt really believe it.

  • Actually, now that I hear it again, I do think that the the part where he explains his life is pretty funny. :)

  • Ok, forget anything else I have commented. You are 600 times better than the guy on the CD. :)

  • Um. No. Nathan Lane is the best at singing this song.

  • Well, im just going by voice, not emotion. Im just not partial to his (Nathan Lane's) voice. But I will agree that he's better at the whole emotion thing.

Oh well, just a matter of opinion, i guess.

  • The pianist, Steve, is very good.

  • Not Half Bad but you're missing the anger of the moment.

  • You did a great job!!!

  • I thought he did well, but I think his voice should be deeper and the acting isn't that great either. It doesn't seem like he was in the character unti the he did the hilibily part and the explanation.

  • this is so cool i love it

  • its not supposed to be a pretty song....saying that not a very good job....his voice is too light...and his acting didnt give off a sense of maturity

  • Well you could have done better as Carman Giah.. you have that voice.

  • JEEZ lots of people are saying you were horrible- Ive only heard this song once and this is AMAZING. I love it! Ben, I've got to see more XD anything else from Producers, or You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown...or RENT? XD anything! I love these broadway renditions!

  • maybe he could have been better as leo. he has a good voice and lots of talent but his to nice to be max bialystock

  • Was this an audition? Because he did a good job. ^^

  • I just don't see this guy as a Max.

  • he is truly crap

i can't say more. he's spoiled the song for ever

if that is what a good voice is well then my voice is the best ever

  • The actual acting is horrendous!!

  • loved it

  • =] That was so cool. I think it's awesome for being live and all, but I find the movie version much better. I think it's something to do with the fact that it's Nathan Lane. =]

But, I did like the fact that this was the full song. =] Anywho, nice job.

    >> You wouldn't happen to have any other parts of the Producers up, would you?

  • Buy me a vowel...because "O" MY GOD!!!! You have done it again, Ben!! I cannot say how many times I have told you that I love your singing. This one was amazing as always...'AL-BEE'!!! I actually laughed out loud at that! Good for you, Ben. Please keep it up. You are the reason I surf the 'net. And no, the internet is not for porn! haha :)

  • That was sooo good! That must have taken sooo much practicing! I don't think the role fits you, but that's okay you are really good!

  • How many times am I going to say "WICKED!!!" about your work, Mr. Ben Durocher?? =) That was fabulous, no matter what anyone else says!!

  • wow im very impressed

    good job!

was that a follies or something because im going to audition for one this fall

  • Hey! Good JOb! Can u let me no wer u got the piano music from asap! Thanx Wez :D

  • The Reason this is bad is because you are a singer not an actor. And ur not fat!

  • Good job:-) your talented but put a little more emotion into your songs!

  • holy jesus, i got tired just THINKING of singing that much!! XD you're incredible!

  • All my favourite broadways are performed by you. What a happy day for me!

  • its not bad but i do have something to say....they did tell you that he was betrayed right?...you dont seem upset enought...just a thought

  • This was very good. At first I thought this was one of the tours of the play going around the country. I just have a problem with how young he is for the role of Max. And because he's young, his voice is too young for it, too.

    Leo, maybe.

  • Wonderful... just wonderful. A few lines went a little flat in terms of delivery, but the song itself is the star. And it was very well done... and it is always nice hearing other people interpret the song, not -just- Nathan Lane!

  • I liked it better when they had him YELL betrayed at the end. I mean he's supposed to be angry not hopeless. Well, a little hopeless but way more angry. Still, good preformance. He could have loosened up a little with the comedy but the impressions and the whole checking his whatch during intermission was good. I like when he went down on his knees for the Julius Ceasar bit.

  • who said he wanted to try out for broadway?

  • Great voice for itself, but he's not Max. He doesn't sing in character.

  • He can sing, but he has no sense of comedy. The voice was decent, but the performance and characterization were weak. I don't mean to be cruel, but if this guy wants to be on Broadway, he oughta know that they're gonna want way more than what he had to offer.

  • I totally agree. He's just relying on his voice, but he needs to work on the acting.

  • did they actually perform the whole show or is it like a talent show kind of deal?

  • dont get me wrong, this guy is a good singer and a great performer but he downright sucks in the role of max.....he would, however, make a very good carmen.

    just my opinion...

  • what an amazing voice! i agree that you might have made a bit of a stronger character choice, but all the essentials are there, you made me laugh. :D great job, really awesome.

  • I thought it was a good proformance of a very hard song. There were parts of it where it sounded like he was either ahead of the music or the music wasn't keeping up but over all he has a wonderful voice. I enjoyed it alot.

  • Impressive! Especially if this is a high school/college performance, as it looks like. A good, strong voice, and a firm sense of comedy. Maybe some more character work would help. --And little more polish wouldn't hurt, but then, it never does. ;)

  • I loved it you are turly amazing! Almost equal to Nathan Lane. WONDERFUL!

  • umm that was nothing like nathan lane....it was a good performance though im not saying hes not good, it just was nothing at all like nathan lane lol

  • Well I didn't say it was like Nathan Lane I said it was almost equal. There's a difference. lol

  • but the point is its nowhere near equal, not even slightly equal. and almost equal is like saying almost like, unless you mean hes almost as good as nathan lane, in which case he definitley isnt, because nathan lane is a professional and has been a pro since probably before you were born, and has waaay more expirience than this kid.

  • Thanks for stating the obvious about Nathan Lane! I was just giving a innocent compliment which was not meant to be debated so drop it please.

  • that...was awesome.

  • I think you all suck, Ben Durocher is not only a good friend of mine but is amazing! You will all see him on Broadway and will be kicking yourselves for giving him such harsh criticism.

  • its called constructive critisism. if youre fiend is smart he will listen to their comments and try to improve....and im sorry, but unless he happens to have an agent and know all the right people, i dont think hes gonna be on broadway. his vocals arent nearly good enough for broadway(but they are still good)

  • Aw, you took out the "Rex, stop it!" line...

Good job. You started a little stiff and too serious for my taste but warmed up to it.

  • Listening to the piano version of the song I don't think there is time to fit it, unless I'm wrong.

  • I think it's quite good....yes I know the username is quite misleading but hey what isn't. I mean there are aspects of it that I thought could of been better, but other than that you did a wonderful job with the choreography. I did it for my class today for talent show auditions and they absolutley broke down in histerics. I hope you don't mind but I may use some of your choreography, as it works for how I want to perform.

  • Well as long as you fix "the aspects of it that you thought could of been better"

  • Don't get me wrong, I think it was really good, just giving my opinion. I love the song no matter what.

  • you're excellent! are you in college? if so, i wanna be as talented as you are when i go to college! great job!

  • I found it amazingly brilliant. Strong, good voice, and he managed the stage really well. Perhaps there wasn't the same edge to his voice as Max had in The Producers, but all the same the tone was properly adjusted to his voice, with a startlingly well-done effect. A confident approach towards the steps in the stage. Excellent! I thought it was amazing, especially for what looks to be a highschool/college performance.

  • His voice is okay, but seriously it's nothing special, there's no character in it at all, maybe toward the end when he gets to the part about his past, but other than that nothing really. It's a great job but nothing special.

  • i agree completely, good but nothing that's gonna go to broadway as it is

  • This is awesome, that guy has a great voice.

  • It was alright, I'm doing it for my talent show as well.

  • eh. it was alright. this guy could've put a little more into it. i guess it was decent for a high school or college play, but there didn't seem to be very much character in Max. you know?

but good job all the same.

  • This was just a performance of this one song, not the whole play.

  • ohhh okay. makes sense then.
