    that should help brb

  • @GelandnaleG what?

  • Funny, this video is in a playlist of Videos of the band "Gamma ray".

  • so i dont get it if these rays are produced by such powerful events such as nuclear explosions and the stars and all that how does medicine use the gamma rays to kill cancerous cells how do they make these rays, please reply I need help with my physics hw, thanks in advance

  • Hi Awogta regarding to your query the GRB's are the most powerful events in the universe next to big bang itself occuring 10 times a day. But the energy of gamma rays we utilize to cure cancer cells are not even 1% of 1% of that energy. So that amount is literally harmless. since gamma rays are considered to be deadliest form of energy in universe also called high energy particles even more energetic than X-rays, any amount in excess causes biological damage and depletion of ozone layer on earth

  • a billion billion??? thats a friggin number? wouldnt it be like, a trillion or a quatrillion. does it mean a billion times a billion? WTF

  • It's actually not that unusual. One reason to use the notion is to convey some idea as to the magnitude of the number. If I say 10^18 it is not as communicative as a billion billion. See the idea?

  • Well GRB's happen quite a lot and we don't see all of the GRB's we see maybe 1 out of 300 gamma-ray burst's that occur outside of our solar system by the naked eye, using no optical aids. If a GRB was to happen in our solar system then all of the planets within it's burst beam would more then certainly be obliterated, causing a superheat of the planet's and destroying all life forms. This will happen if a GRB occurs at 1000 light years away.

  • *it can be hazardous from further away than 1,000 LYs. It wouldnt destroy anything physically per say...it would however obliterate our atmosphere. only deep dwelling creatures would survive

  • Thats like with gamma rays on earth they are spat out after a nuclear reaction in a atom while the nucleus is unstable.

  • How can all the poles of these "exploding stars" point towards the earth? What would be the odds of that happening? Logic would suggest these bursts are coming from galaxies at the extents of our universe that have reached the SOL. Because the galaxies are moving away at an increasing rate eventually they will reach the SOL. When galaxies reach the SOL they turn into energy. Imagine all the particles in one galaxy going nuclear at the same moment. Do you think whole galaxies could be exploding?

  • man I can do a burst like that in my sleep - wouth SOUL POWER b1tches lol

  • ya only this thing is prolly pointed at earth to find weapons LMAO

  • no one even know for sure what even is a black hole... what if its nothing?

( No one knows for sure )

  • wtf do you mean? they know exactly what a black hole is. It is matter so dense that it can stop light escaping its gravitational pull, this is possible because photons have mass

  • Great, now go listen to the great new Beck song; Gamma Ray, from his new cd Modern Guilt.

  • its caused by the result of a black hole

  • not exactly/only

  • when we first discovered GRB's we actually had a theory that it was "alien warfare in deep space"-history channel

  • interesting! I was watching a program just today and its obvious there are several types of gamma ray bursts and science doesnt exactly know what causes all of them.

  • WR 104 (8000 light years away) and its axis is aligned within a close degree range from Earth.

If it produces a gamma ray burst, we are pwned.

  • "If it produces a gamma ray burst, we are pwned"

hahaha funny but not. the gamma ray bursts dont necesarily go in each direction from the star axis

  • Really? Interesting, I didn't know that. I had though the jets went in both directions. Well, in that case, hopefully WR 104's jet, if it happens, only goes the other way :)

  • we will be destroyed soon enough dont worry. and there will be no warning if something were to happen be it gamma rays, black holes meteors or human evolution and technology. so lets all have a party!!

  • ya, but the chance of something like that happening is very slim. Anyways, the center of our Galaxy, the Milky Way, is a black hole, and our sun is too small to create a black hole. Meteors are hitting earth all the time, but they either burn up in the atmosphere or bounce off, so it would have to be HUGE in order to actually do anything. either way.... parts sounds good to me :)

  • Way cool! I wish I had one of those!

  • imagin a gun that shoots straight gamma rays (g.ray gun) or something.

  • Either theory involves a black hole? NICE!

  • if i recall correctly they are the result of super massive black holes, resulting in quasar's. another type of huge emission happens when two binary neutron stars become selfengulfed through gravity. the explosions are supposed to emit more energy than the their host galaxy at one period.

if our planet was even remotely close to such a emission it would destory our ozone layer and atmosphere...bye bye life.
