  • I have a Mazda mx3 with a new alternater and battery.. what could cause my battery to drain every time i hit the brakes.. it causes the stereo to cut off and ALL the lights to dim till the car dies?? Thanks

  • @lambofgod5100 It sounds like there may be a loose connection in the engine compartment. I would check there first.

  • I have a 2000 Sunfire with no rear brake light or turn signal. I have been told this is caused by a faulty hazard signal switch which is also part of the turn signal switch. What do you think?

  • @bigdon26587 If all of the brake lights are out, it could be the brake light switch or a broken wire coming off of the switch. If it's just the third brake light that's out it may be a bulb. If you put the turn signal on I would test the sockets and wiring to see if there's power going to them, and if the bulbs are bad. Hope this helps you out.

  • Does anyone know, roughly, how long this repair takes to complete? Thanks!

  • @MomOfThreeCats It would probably take about 45 minutes or so to complete. Hope this helps you out.

  • I need help!! Is this the same procedure and steps you would take to replace the turn signal switch on a 2000 impala...also smoke came out from the steering colum when my switch had a short.

  • @ReySeanTv The turn signal switch is different on your Impala. The basics may be the same on your vehicle, but some of the removal procedure could be different.

  • I have 98 cavalier and i cant find my flasher can some1 help me

  • @mljr1015 It should be located on the board with the fuses, which on most vehicles located under the dash on the drivers side. If you have the owners manual for your vehicle, it should show you the location of the switch.

  • I had to replace my Headlight switch. This video is AMAZING and saved me almost $300.00. I did it my self. Had all the tools. Safely removed the airbag...and from start to finish only took me about 10 minutes. Again. If you follow this video step by step you will have NO problems getting this job done. I am 100% satisfied with this video... Will be looking to you for more repair help in the future.

  • why take fuse out if bat is unhooked

  • @realfast01 It's an added safty precaution, in case the positive cable slips and hits the positive terminal on the battery while your working on it. It's also a good added step just incase there's any stored power going to it. There's a lot of force in those air bags.

  • The turn siginal stock can be changed without removing the steering wheel. Different sizes and lengths of screwdrivers are the key. Also the steering wheel needs to be reposition to get out different screws. I have done it twice on a 1997 Cavalier 2.2 L, 3 speed automatic

  • In the video you only disconnect the positive terminal on the battery. Most tutorials I've seen say to disconnect the negative first and then the positive, is that really necessary or is it ok to just do the positive like in the video?

  • Question?

I have a 93 Olds Acheiva. The signal lights stopped working about 4 months ago.

I have replace Fuse's, Light bulbs, Multi function signal switch & flasher relay.

And they still don't work. But yet all hazard lights work.

I noticed there was a white square 3 prong unit next to the round 2 prong flasher unit. What would this be for? And where can I find schematic drawings for this car?

I would be grateful for any help Thanks!

  • great video

  • can you do this without removing the steering wheel? I'm actually looking at doing this on a 97 camaro but i'd guess it's similar

  • @pdennis93 The procedure on the 97 may be different. We haven't had one in the shop yet to work on.

  • I have a right low beam headlight not working although bulb is good, high beams work so I figure problem is in switch - anyone have this problem with cavalier ?

  • @tsadjatko Never had that one, you sure the bulb is good? also check the connection, they can get corroded and fail.

  • @1aauto I think I found the problem - two different mechanics assurred me it is not the bulb but I found this on a blog GM has a common problem with the headlight wiring on the Sunfires and Cavaliers. DRL lights don't work, low beams don't work, and all you have is brights. The problem occurs where the wiring runs across the car in front of the radiator. The wires rub against the bumper supports, causing pinholes in the wiring that corrode all you have to do is replace part of wire that is bad

  • @tsadjatko Good info, let us know how it turns out!

  • @1aauto OK - took the headlight out and started by removing the corrugated plastic tube that houses the wires to the bulb and found the problem in one of the two wires just 6 inches from the lightbulb - I could see a pit mark on the wire - cut it and reconnected it and now the right low beam workes fine. So glad I found that blog saved me 89.99 just to have dealership try to find the problem which they said they had never heard of it being a common problem with cavaliers. Great video btw. :)

  • @tsadjatko Thanks for the info, glad to post it for other sunfire cavalier owners who might be running n to the same problem with their headlights not working correctly.

  • @tsadjatko i had this problem with my 07 cobalt ss my left headlight low beams didnt work but my right headlight does and my high beams also work on both sides all my fuses are good tried the bulb in my buddies mustang since it uses the same kind of bulb and it worked went to check the wires around my left headlight and found that 2 of the wires were bare and had no plastic so cut the wires just like u said rewired them and it works now thanks man saved me some $

  • On my 2001 Cavalier the screws behind the steering wheel holding the airbag were T27 Torx head. Loosening them is the hardest part of the procedure. The rest is a breeze.

  • can you tell me where the relay switch is located on the 2004 cavalier.. I changed the turn signal switch (with the help of this video THANKYOU), but my turn signal still only works intermediately.

  • @adkwalker You need to remove the ignition switch. There is a hole in the plastic housing tat you put a small long screwdriver or any other slender pointed tool in to. With the battery disconnected turn the key to either run or start (I don;t remember which). Use the tool to press a release button from the bottom and the lock cylinder will come out. Now you can remove the plastic steering column cover easily.

  • Awesome video. Thanks so much

  • Thank you for this great video. Do you know if I have to take the steering wheel off on a 97 Chevy Cavalier? I am going to have to replace the switch in wifes car, but I notice some comments that others have not had to remove the steering wheel-- how do you know? Thanks for any advice.

  • @spudtak That is correct you do not have to remove the steering wheel.

  • On a 2001 Sunfire, you do not have to remove steering wheel.

  • @Moester1955 Yes, even I learn as I go a little. You can do this without removing the steering wheel. I will have to reshoot and post an updated video.

  • Thank you very much for this excellent video!!! It gave me the confidence to tackle this job and it came out a success. By the way, I was able to replace the switch without taking the steering wheel off.

I had to replace this in a hurry because my daughter was going back to college tomorrow or I would have checked out your parts web site. I will definitely bookmark it and look next time I need something.

    Thanks again!!!

  • Very good video. Very informative, and helpful.

  • @RedBarron14 Thank You!!! If you need parts or information check out our website and/or youtube channel.

  • Will I need to take out any fuses for the airbag?

  • @fightnight79 Yes it is easy and detailed in the video

  • @1aauto Oh ok lol

  • @fightnight79 done it before too! lol

  • Thanks for this excellent video. Your instructions are dead on. I followed them to replace the switch on a 96 Cavalier w/ cruise control. I think the only difference was one more wiring thing to unplug.

I would add that people take care and make sure the horn contact goes all the way in. I didn't get it all the way in and I have to hit the horn a little harder now.

Also, on the wheel puller, if you don't have one, many auto parts stores will let you rent one.

  • excellent, Thanks! Great video.

  • cool u need to open up in minden la thanks man
