You just know when it's a video, and demo video at that, of women lifting weights, there will be some tards who has hit the gym about 10 times trying to tell people every single possible deviation of what they have been taught.
FWIW in my gym there are some crazy fit women, and they all run pump.
@tipslo2 - you know feelings in sports are different from individual to individual, I never did BODY PUMP but my wife does all the time. The results are there. Before he was doing just bodybuilding, now she says that BODY PUMP with easier weights but lot of reps is better... Box training might be exciting, as it is hit and jump, I like tennis because of HIT and run.. :)
@musclesexpert body pump is absolut one of the better methods of training. U will get faster and build all muschles with boxing, and bodyrock is just kinda like bodypump, but a little less focused on mushles
After watching the official Bodypump website, I just cringe! The instructors are so incredibly WRONG and misinformed in their teaching of proper Olympic style basic lifts.
They are doing nothing but teaching people the totally incorrect way to lift, and the right way to a fast track to injury. I don't know where the instructors get their information, but it is just wrong, plain and simple...
This is a great weight workout for people, especially women, learning to lift weights. It takes time to learn good form but that's what the class is for!
pump is real training the essence is to challenge yourself of course the instructor needs to talk we train to teach under fatigue if your new to exercise go light if your experienced go heavier. Simple.
Body Pump can be a manageable workout for 70 year old Dorris or a challenging one for an Olympic Decathlon athlete
Don't knock it til you've tried it! And if you've tried and don't like it then its not for you no harm in trying something and admitting you don't like it. To be fair i don't think that article/clip showed bodypump to its best, as half the womens form wasn't very good and the instructor didn't seem very get up and go, but saying that the women were all committed and sweating so must doing something right :)
@g16peak If you really want the, "real deal," join a CrossFit organization. P90X has NOTHING on CrossFit. This Bodypump crap is a lame-ass hybrid of CrossFit and step aerobics for elderly citizens...
@g16peak muscle gain isn't the point of body pump. it's muscle toning and cardio. sorry i just had to comment. i'm a body pump instructor in the philippines. hehe
@dinlubez Sorry "instructor," but you're completely misinformed. The very best way to become toned is by building lean muscle through INTENSE weight training and HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) cardio. Anything less is simply no good. That's the facts. The more muscle mass that your body supports, the more calories you will burn.
And based on what I see, Bodypump doesn't include either of those elements. Sorry to burst your bubble...
You hiit (get it) the nail on the head there. I have just started at a gym and the fitness instructors where really bad. They where showing women only cardio workout's. As soon as I came in I had to stop this. I held a talk, and advised the women that cardio will burn fat but excessive cardio will also eat away at their muscle too. I changed them all onto a cardio/strength split and the difference is amazing. They are seeing results. Strength training is not just a guy thing.
@Rapaglia1 I believe you are the one that is misinformed ! I have a personal trainer that says body pump is the very best !!! I have been doing it for 2 weeks come Monday and I already see a major difference !!!
@plzzzzzzable Oh they do, do they? Look, no offense, or anything, but I'm multi-degree'd in Applied Kinesiology, a certified CrossFit Instructor, NCSA-CPT, NCCP 3, CSIA Lvl 4 Course Conductor, CSCF 3 Biosignature Certified, MAT Lower Body Specialist, CST Certified, and AKC Certified Coach. I'm guessing your "personal trainer" is a part-time employee at 24-Hour Fitness. Just because their shirt says "trainer" on the back doesn't make them qualified to be a "personal trainer."
@Rapaglia1 To reply to all of your OPINION . I have seen a major difference in two weeks . No I do not sit on the couch and eat french fries . Maybe in the video their form isn't the best but a good instructor gives you great instruction on your form. As far as my personal trainer goes he is extremely fit he is in his 60's has been a trainer for years and continues to educate himself. Not only is he a personal trainer he is also a instructor at the college as well as a coach.
@plzzzzzzable So actually, I'm not misinformed. I'm very informed. I apply the physics and basic principles of mass-building and fat loss that professionals have been doing for 60+ years. Nowhere in their regimen does it include pretend workouts like BodyPump. You may see some initial results, but don't be surprised when in a few months your progress comes to a screeching halt when you hit your plateau...
@Rapaglia1 also I have serious doubts he has the time to spend time on you tube like your self to talk down what he doesn't truly know about .I would ask him to get on and correct you . I am pretty sure that educational institution wouldn't hire someone that would put it's students at risk or guide them to things that didn't work.
@plzzzzzzable And I love your comment - "I have been doing it for 2 weeks come Monday and I already see a major difference !!!" Well if you spend your days sitting on a couch, stuffing your face full of french fries, and then one day you stop stuffing your face for 2 weeks, by default, you will see a difference. Don't act like it's a huge surprise that you notice changes. That was SUPPOSED to happen. But I would see the same results with BodyPump, or taking a 10 minute walk around the corner...
@plzzzzzzable "I have a personal trainer that says body pump is the very best !!!" I have news for you: those online certified 24-Hour Fitness "personal trainers" HAVE TO say that their programs are the best. It's a conflict of interest to say otherwise. Next time you're there, look at the trainers. They all do the same thing - they read a script and a regimented series of exercises to their clients. There is zero personal training involved. They are salesmen with a clipboard full of exercises.
@plzzzzzzable And look at the physical shape they are in. Most of those "personal trainers" are in horrible shape. Yet you swallow the bull shit advice the high school graduate "trainers" shovel down your throat. So eat it up. But don't complain when you realize that you forked over hundreds of dollars for minimal (at best) results. Trust me on this one. Save your money and get to a Tacfit, CrossFit, or some other organization that actually teaches and gives legitimate one-on-one advice.
@plzzzzzzable If you want REAL change, you must lift heavy weights, do intense cardio, and get your diet in check. I'm sorry if your trainers tell you otherwise, but any REAL trainer knows those are the facts. Unfortunately, BodyPump does not include those. The lifting techniques are wrong, the advice is wrong, and their strategies are wrong. I have been lifting weights and working out far too long for some "trainer" to be dishing out bunk advice to unknowing people. It makes me sick!
@plzzzzzzable The way that they lift weights is putting you on a fast-track to injuring yourself and setting yourself up for failure. But I'm also willing to bet that if your "personal trainer" is even slightly informed, then they know that programs like these don't really generate real long-term results. Don't get caught up in the false hype. And if your trainer still believes that BodyPump is the "best!!!" then you need to find yourself a new trainer.
@Rapaglia1 Wow, you are just a douche. Another one of those douchey guys who think they know every freakin' thing. STFU, buddy. Body pump properly done fits well into an overall fitness regimen, regardless of what you claim. Maybe you finally got a job three months ago and now have no time to troll boards like this to brag bitterly about your incredible knowledge and skills. Douche.
@socioman You are certainly entitled to your own opinion. But I never claimed to "know every freakin' thing." However, I DO know about nutrition, the science of motion, weightlifting, and exercise. I'm sure you're skilled in many things too. But for the sake of the argument, give me some credit here. I have studied long and hard in the fitness arena to know that what they teach is improper. It just is. I'm sorry you think I'm a "douche" for being knowledgeable....(cont.)
@socioman ...(cont.) Maybe for people who have no fitness experience would Bodypump fit well into their regimen. But for even the average gym attendee, they should be nowhere near this class. Especially if their goal is fat loss. Fat loss requires engagement in all core movements. To effectively stimulate the body's fat loss abilities, a high intensity session needs to be part of the equation. Not only are the lifting techniques they teach improper, but they are also low-impact/low-intensity.
but not in this one. is there anybody out of breath at one point? this instructor is smiling and talking while "pumping". lol this can't be real training
I know that there is the time limit for the work out course. But the instructor must tell more details. I see many people who do not have right posture but not only in this course but also where i live :) I have figured out how it should be done by DVD because instructor didn't tell details or they tell just so simply about right posture.
frontalzone yeh the bench press could be wider for some of the group lunges could be better executed but why focus on the few negatives? At least these people are moving good on them no one died the technique takes time to get right the instructor can develop group technique over the weeks new people wont do it perfect straight away so they start light! instructors do one 2 one after class sometimes or technique classes. like millions of others they will get huge benefits from moving with pump
why do they need to be at the very end? being at very end of the bar just works a different area of the chest, your hands being at the end of the bar puts unecessary stress of your wrists.
I've been bodypumping for 2 months once to two times weekly and Ii have seen the results! Excellent comboith my cycling.
