In the movie, they show the king begging the chief of the 150 homo couples to stop fighting and in exchange he could have anything he desires: Dildos, whips, chains, leather, anything he wants. In reality, they all met the Persian Sergeant and worked out a plan to turn themselves into a sperm depository for the hardened troops so far away from their wives.
dont forget the 300 spartans were the elite of the elite off course they will slaughter alot of persians but it didnt even hurt xerxes what so ever i dont know the exact number how many they killed but take they slaughtered 50.000 men but whats 50.000 men compared to the persian army of 2 million !!!!!!!
u will never find such soldiers , win or lose ,, they had no fear , fear was deleted from their minds.. it never existed, was never introuced to them , only to be feared and fight to the death. No Roman , No Persian , or No Samurai ,or mongolian could compare to that .. as a single warrior
that is so not true the mongols had soldiers that was named kensei they had no fear what so ever and was the best in sword fighting with no equal what so ever some say they reached another moral dimension. these soldiers can be compared to the spartans both were the elite of the elite of their countries.
I also want to point out a warrior that gets no credit at all but The Hawaiian warriors were pretty amazing as well they were raised with the same mentality as spartans if you were born with birth defects or you were to small you were killed. The martial art they mastered in for hand to hand combat consist of breaking bones nerve hits and severing. its very intense. So the Hawaiians should get some credit for there warriors.
so true the hittities as what they called if i remember correctly, they had no horses but one of the best hand to hand fighters.
every country has his own elite of the elite fighters they can compare to eachother the difference between the spartans and other elite fighters were the spartans only can fight really good in groups not as a single unit wich for example the kensei samurai could.
In reality they said it was 300, 000 persians against 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians, Thespians were not in fron line though , so they never actually did much , it is not Science fiction , yes the Dick head Director added his monsters and Hollywood Bullshit to it , Persian Empire was one of tbe Greatest Empires ever.. But they made Xerxes look like a fag .. it aint right.
i dont think xerxes looked like a fag they only wanted him to image him as a god witch he was back then, it is true xerxes send beasts like elephants to the greek army but the conditions in greece was to harsh for the elephants and alot of them died before they even reached greek territory
the army of 1000 Greek allies versus the army of 200 thounds- 2.6 million persians. The Spartan army was so small because the rest of the army was competing at the olympic games
(3)v all know that this movie is MEANT 2 b based on a FICTION,but when it emphasizes on a real historical event and refers 2 the real main characters such as Persian king Xerxes,it cant picture the history entirely in a WRONG way.Making heroes by showing a wrong picture of civilized Persians, with such a rich culture,is just not rit.I personally think such a action from a big company such as WB only has a political purposes behind the scene. They r trying to involve ppl in thez political games
Yes, but it is still true that Persia stood for depsotism and tryanny, luxury and greed. Greece stood for science, free thought, and independence. True, Persia was great, but read Herotodus. Miller exaggerates the truth for cinematic effect, but he does not alter it. Greece conquered and transformed Persia anyway, at Gaugamela more than 100 years later.
(2)..Based on the Zoroastrian doctrine, it was the strong emphasis on honesty and integrity that gave the ancient Persians credibility to rule the world, even in the eyes of the people belonging to the conquered nations (Herodotus, mid 5th century B.C). Truth for the sake of truth, was the universal motto and the very core of the Persian culture that was followed not only by the great kings, but even the ordinary Persians made it a point to adhere to this code of conduct.."
(1)"It is a proven scholarly fact that the Persian Empire in 480 B.C was the most magnificent and civilized empire. Established by the Cyrus the great, the writer of the first human right declaration...
That's correct. There is some historical disagreement as to whether the Persians numbered 10,000, 180,000 (as some historians claim) or 2.6 million (as Herodotus claimed). Either way, this battle is usually taken as an example of how superior training, tactics, and knowledge of terrain can help to overcome a manpower disadvantage.
The spartans actually kind of defeated the Persians. Yes the Persians won but they never actually captured Sparta. The Spartans held them back and the Persians never made it through. Every single Spartan from those 300 died. But they kind of won.
eh!? there were only 300 spartans with 7000 greek allies! this is historically accuruate so dont flame me! and when leonidas heard that the persians found a way around thermopylae he then told the other greeks to go home and in the end it was 300 spartans 700 thebes and 400 slaves left to fight against the persians so in total all that was left to defend the pass were 1400 greeks including the 300 spartans.
it's the battle between Leonidas the Spartan chief of the army and Xerxes the leader of Persia.Since the Persians were more they had killed a lot of Spartans and only 300 were left. When Xerxes told Leonidas to give up and gift him Sparta he said the famous "Come and get it" phrase. And that was the start of a new battle.Maybe Spartans lost because of the very small number of warriors but Leonidas gave the example of courrage.

Plus, yeah, the Spartans had enormous balls.

So 300 Spartans took on up to 10,000 Persians? If thats rights, the Spartan's must've had a hell of alot of balls.
