Rather, it means that the glacier ADVANCED enough to meet li pressure from the lake and it breaks. A GOOD SING! Take care when you do not break anymore. The Perito Moreno glacier ruptures like this every few years, due to it drifting across and blocking off a nearby lake to form a natural dam. The dam breaks when the damn pressure rises, dammit. This video is of a few days before the last such rupture, when there were just a few break ups. The fact that AP put up this footage instead of the one where you can see the water released is a deliberate attempt to mislead.

I argentaine. this is not about global warming. Is the normal behavior of this glacier "Perito Moreno" in the south of my country, when broken is a beautiful spectacle of nature. Thousands of tourists from all over the world come to see him. It happens every 4 years. The glacier grows, it reaches the warmer waters of the lake and breaks. It's great to see! A thrilling experience.

For global warming fanatics... The melting of glaciers happens all the time, always has and always will. They come and go like everything else. We are now in a period of global COOLING that is increasing as it did in the '70's. It's not a new ice age either, it is just the natural flow of conditions. We've learned that that's really an inaccurate way of describing the changes which may take place in such a huge system; some places will warm, some will become cooler, others still will become drier or wetter. Before saying anything, you should read a bit, this event occurs once every few years, mainly in summer, this is totally normal and probably one of the most amazing shows that nature gift us. Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the few glaciers that have kept its size.
