  • when i go to shrink volume in making a partition it only lets me shrink 37mb (not near enough) no matter how much stuff I delete from my c drive....whats going on?.... please help me its really frustrating :S

  • use parted magic 4.4......just trust me, it works

  • Try defragmenting your C: drive. If that doesn't work try disabling the pagefiles.

  • i already installed Ubuntu 8.10 inside windows, when I open my computer and when I click Ubuntu, it'll just wait for ten seconds to enter UBUNTU and when I enter setup several commands are there like boot, memset, recovery mode. Before the Ubuntu will open codes will come up and few minutes to enter Ubuntu help me is this normal? what is boot?

    I want that if I click the Ubuntu it will automatically open but codes will come first I confused with boots, memset etc..

    whats that?

  • if this info can help? - windows shows that i have 2 partitions (80 gb windows , 11gb hp recovery and 10 gb unallocated space).

  • can someone help me please?? - whenever i get to step 4 where i am making the partitions, no partitions / unallocated space / hard drives are shown and all the buttons are greyed out. before i booted from my usb flash drive, i shrank my windows partition so i would have 10gb of unallocated space which worked fine.

    we have a portable hard drive with 250gig, and as far as our comp goes, it treats it like an external hard drive (duh)

    so can you use this external drive with a partition for the use of ubuntu on the external drive?

  • Yes.. It will work.. But it will be extremely slow.. especially if it using a USB cable

  • actually, no. i did install on the hard drive and it works pretty well.

    my guesss is because processing isn't affected by the usb. only the ram.
