  • If your young and still discovering great 60's music, and you like this particular song (like me), you might try The Dave Clark Five's "Try Too Hard". Try it, you'll like it...

  • Kick-ass song; kinda Beatlesque, dont ya think?

  • What is amazing is they were around in the 50's. Yes, they had hits in the 50's. This is a great song, has a real backbone. You gotta love the Beau Brummel look.

  • As close as it ever gets to a perfect pop song. I never get tired of listening to it and only wish it could be rediscovered and revived by a modern band.

  • The Flamin Groovies chose to cover this in 71, and their version rocks too! Just a great, unforgettable pop song.

  • Anybody that dares to slam the Raiders can walk the plank....

  • Paul Revere & The Raiders had a boat load of great songs, but this is my favorite. It just rocks. And the question is the same for every generation - What's it gonna be him or me? I love it. Peace.

  • these guys are a boise, idaho band. Makes me proud!!!!!

  • @ssweetkings Ahh potatoes, Boise State and Paul Revere and The Raiders! Man and I'm only from Columbus Ohio LOL J/K :)

  • Awesome song, perhaps their best, the pride of the Pacific Northwest, the legendary Paul Revere and the Raiders...thanks for posting this hard to find classis!!!

  • This band was from Oregon!! Yea! My favorite Raider songs (not in order) Ups and Downs, Him or Me..,.Kicks, Hungry, Louise, Tighter, Oh Moreen, Good Thing, Free, Communication, Movin On. The jackass RnR induction Committee accepted Iggy Pop, The Cure,U2 and many bland groups. The Raiders and other great bands were not considered prior to and so the Rock Hall is BOGUS. Your Opinion?

  • @TheStampedehero from Boise, Idaho actually :) Mark was originally from Eugene though

  • mark is still on tour! He tours with the grassroots, monkees, buckinghams,at age 69!

  • This is my fave Raiders' song...

  • I showed this to my wife ( we are both a little past forty :) ) and she says, He's cute! Yep, Mark was definitely cute. Great song. Thanks for posting, Thanks PR&R's!!

  • Ohhhh....nice one. Mod classic, KTF.

  • The Raiders were a different type band back in the 60's had a lot of chart sucess, but my question is what ever happened to Mark Lindsey?

  • OMG!!!!! I've been looking for this song FOREVER!!!!! it was on an old reel to reel tape my dad recorded off the radio back in the 60s! I could have sworn it was the beatles because they sound a lot like them Thank you google!

  • Beats what goes for "music" these days! Brings back memories from the AM/FM, record & casette era. Thanks for posting.

  • Loved this song then, love it just as much now.

  • Loved this song then, still love it.

  • Yeah .... a belter!!

    Clever song!

  • I always loved the back-beat in this song. When it first came out (before I was in high school) I wore it out in a juke box in Cambridge Springs! *little coffee shop over the tracks*#LOL#

  • Whats it gonna be her or me, her or me, her or me, her or me,what's it gonna be4!!!!

  • Thanks, Love the Raiders! A great "Summer of Love" song!

  • Cool song!! Are these dudes dead? LOL!!!!! Good to know people still listen to these songs!!

  • I'm 18 years old and own Paul Revere and the Raiders Anthology on CD. Songs like this make me wish I grew up in the 60's when music was real.......

  • @2726AM Me, too

  • The custom they wore identify them as Paul Revere & The Raiders, just like The Villeage People with their tought custom workers. You get it Tom!

  • good music never die!!

  • Classic music but those outfits...........what were they thinking?

  • The sixties, WOW, what a time. Life was fun and the music the greatest.

  • Growing up listening to the music in the '60s was the greatest. Thanks for posting this classic, digitalmystic!

  • @wanative57

There was so much craftmanship in the music from the 60's. I miss this in the mass produced garage-band sound so prevalent now. It is sad...

  • love it!!!

  • DDN'T LIKE IT, LOVE IT!!! MAY HAVE ADDITIONAL REMARKES, JUST HAVE TO REMEMBER THEM. Why is there only 85 Posts to this song? I grew up on this music.

  • raiders are so similiar to the monkees.

  • What a great song. Segway this with Tighter and Free. I was 14 in 67 Loved 60s music

  • Great song but the hilarious comments below are overshadowing the song and the video!

  • Excellent music all around...Knew them through the 60s....High School Days..

  • LOL - CINDY LAUPER! THAT is your measuring stick? Cindy freakin' LAUPER? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL

  • @franklinrocks1 Happy I made you laugh.W/ Regards, Tinkerbell :P

  • Love the guitars!!!!

  • Heretic! That photo is not of the line up Raiders who did this great song.

  • I'd forgotten about this little ditty, glad I found it again...

  • incredible rockers... so far ahead of their time. They were my favorites -along with Eric Burdon and the Animals- when I was in high school. But I just read in the comments that they are NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Jesus...unbelievable!!! Somebody has their head up their ass.

  • @sicilianese69 That is unbelievable considering the number of hits they had! They put out some of the best rock music in the 60's.

  • How did all those big B-52's miss so many of them?

  • A lot of the music from the 60's was very good because Rock and Roll was still young, like the people who listen'ed to it. Everything else about the 60's, with the exception of the Moon landing, pretty much sucked! The drug scene, counter culture cocksuckers, that damn war the Democrats got us into but would not let us win, trying to help a bunch of assholes that did not appreciate it. And now they are over here, taking our job's and looking down their nose at us! Go figure.

  • Lady Gaga cannot hold a candle to Paul and the Raiders

  • @bender1958 Lady Gaga is another wannabe of Madonna in the 80s.

  • @Godzie1 Agreed. If they put Madonna in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, then they can put Paul and the Raider in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame too. Especially since their music was far more exciting than anyhting ever put out by Madonna.

  • @bender1958 I do have to disagree about Madonna, She has her right on the Hall of fame for her own unique style of music that I see so many artists trying to copy. As far as the Raiders go? They made their contribution in music history & should make the Hall of fame. BTW I also was born in 58.

  • @Godzie1: I was just a young kid when Madonna hit the scene and she has never been anything more than just an image. She's had some catchy tunes in her career, whole lotta different hairstyles, and massive record sales. Innovative? No. Changed the face of rock and roll? Don't think so. If you ask me, Madonna made a career out of acting like a whore. When fans boost an artist higher than what they've actually contributed to music, that's called overrated.

  • @MattHatter Well since you were a young kid when Modanna came out in the 80s...You never saw the image change when she had her 1st child & did Evita. The sexy image worked w/her music & millions loved her. Also she made millions so she would also laugh at your slander all the way to the bank!

  • @Godzie1: Never saw the image change? I've seen ALL of her image changes. The only one I dug was when she went through her Kabala phase (not sure if she still embraces the religion or not). And yes, I'm sure she could laugh my slander all the way to the bank, that's obvious, but millions means nothing. The most diabolical garbage ever to taint the charts has sold tens of millions. There has never been another musical movement like the '60s. It's passed and can't be redone.

  • @MattHatter Millions mean nothing? lol What planet are from? This is America the home of the greed....(I would love one of those millions.) :P

  • @Godzie1 The only thing Madonna brought to the Hall of Fame was STDs. Her songs are about as melodic as a Sunday morning bowel movement.

  • @franklinrocks1 Never knew that your Sunday morning bowel movement was so melodic? lol I liked her music & to each their own. :)

  • @Godzie1 Madonna brought ZERO to music. She dressed up like a bride and rolled around on the floor like an orgasmic epileptic having a seizure. And for that she goes into the Hall of Fame? LOL NICE! bet she gave Jann Wenner a hummer just to be considered.

  • @franklinrocks1 If you would have the guts to pull that gig yourself & make the fame & fortune she did? You do it too! lol

  • @Godzie1 Didnt say I wouldnt', skid mark - I just said she did and doesnt deserve to be in any Hall of Fame except maybe the Blow Job Hall of Fame.

  • @franklinrocks1 "Nasty" To each their own...But she's well off today because of it & many copy her work. So deal w/it! You're remarks isn't going to change anything? She made her fortune & lives in a mansion. We should have been so lucky? :P

  • @Godzie1 Those are just my opinions, tinker bell. Im not trying to "change" anything. Im making an observation based on MY observations. She's a HO with a ton of STDs and has had little impact on other people's music. A trend setter? Dont make me laugh!

  • @franklinrocks1 Trend setter? Tell that to Lady Gaga! :) Back in the 80s there was a war between Madonna & Cindy Lauper, Madonna won out! :)

  • Did these guys write their own music? They've got a body of work that still sounds good. If they wrote it , they need to be in the rock n roll Hall of Fame.

  • i wish i was alive in the 60s stuff these days sucks ass im the only one in my school whos even heard of them

  • This is Great Music

    Thank you

  • one of the most perfect singles of the 60s!

  • Abba was a good band, but they didn't impact Rock the way Paul Revere & The Raiders did.

I really that they fix this next year.

And guys, even though you haven't been chosen for the RRHOF, we know who should be there. You may have not gotten the recognition that you deserve yet,but you are in our RRHOF and that will never change for us, your true fans,

  • WAIT WAIT WAIT - freakin ABBA is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and NOT Paul Revere and the Raiders? Sweet bearded Jesus that is unbelievable. Those two chicks must have taken some major league facials from the HOF committee to get in. That is unreal.

  • franklinrocks, the two women from ABBA, no longer young, having their faces... well, it's a very disturbing image.

  • yes - I used to beat off to the chicks of ABBA - not any more - ugh.

  • @franklinrocks1 amen

hey, smokey & the miracles aren't in there either, i mean WTF?

  • The HOF is so irrelevant in terms of merit that it's almost more prestigious to be left out. This is a great song and I actually prefer the Flamin' Groovies 1971 cover version. Incidentally that's another terrific band that will never see the inside of the HOF, which doesn't diminish their greatness by an iota.

  • monkees and paul revere, both in hall of fame?Should be

  • Echo many comments regarding the combination of pop angst (urgency), rhythm and even lyric. It has the same effect on me as, say, "And Your Bird Can Sing" by the Fabs, or Creedence's "Green River," or the Contours' "Do You Love Me," or the Beach Boys' "Dance, Dance, Dance" (Glen Campbell on 12-string), and so on and so on. Infectious and imminently memorable. Yeah Yeah Yeah! (Oh, I forgot "She Loves You" !!!)

  • They made great dancing music.

  • This is one band that should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. For the period between 1965 and 1967 they were probably one of the hottest bands in America. In fact, if a band like ABBA can get in there then they should make room for Paul Revere and the Raiders.

  • Remembering dancing to this song in elementary. Miss those days of being carefree. Love these guys, use to watch them of Bandstand & Shindig.

  • Actually the band was managed and controlled by Dick Clark.

  • Isn't everything?

  • Paul Revere, the business head behind the band, knew exactly what to do, and when: The early hits sounded like the British Invasion; this is obviously, and very credibly, post-Monkees.

  • great old tune get back on the road?

  • Radio Caroline played this in the summer of 67,,,me and my schoolmate Richard Stone bought the album Revolution...a great pop album

    jim

  • Yeah Crank It

    Dance your Ass Off

    Today it,s guns and bitches

    So sad

  • I haven't heard this song in many years, yet I still know all the words. Love the Raiders.

  • Aw, they were so good! The American Beatles!

  • fabulous!

  • yeah man this song is so hard to find! heard it in the grocery store and was like... hey there's that tune again i wonder who does that! lyrics search brings up nothing?!

  • great tune. I finally figured out who did this song!

It was playing on the radio this past weekend and I had to google it. I was a just young kid in the 60's but remember it was a great time for music.

  • I'm glad I was around in the 60's for this music because it's sure alot better than some most of the dogshit that's called music now.

  • i totally agree with you i was raised in the 60's and i wish i could go back to the good music i listened to on the radio ..

  • @smokiebird06 Totally agreed. Although I was born in '61, I still absorbed alot of radio and stuff that my older brothers and sisters played on the ol' turntable during the 60's. Yeah, too much of todays modern music is just straight up shit.

  • @smokiebird06 Honey, We had the best music from the 60s-80s then something happened? The internet & music was never the same...lol

  • @smokiebird06 You surely got that right. You ain't lying about the bullshit they play nowadays. I was around when this song first came out. Too bad they don't play it on any oldies station that I know of.

  • @smokiebird06 Yes.

  • The rythem guitar in this song is so awsome,a lost art Rythem guitar, its a shame.Listen to the early stones albums and listen to the little things Brian and Keith did,it made the whole song.

  • Fab guitar tune! totally rocks!

  • I agree, Dancer!

Now included in my Summer Playlist.

    *****

  • My favourite Raiders song, and they had some absolute killers. Also love the Flamin' Groovies version from 71'.

  • Love this, thanks for posting!

  • Tremendous song of the 60s - blistering Dick Dale-type guitar work, great vocal hook and harmony, driving percussion - awesome!

  • Still a great tune,A great time in music

  • Groovy! My fave Raiders song ; thanks for posting!

  • The Raiders greatest song....its infectious....I listened to it over and over

  • Great groove, vocals. I still love the sixties and the music explosion. I'm truly glad I lived thru it and experienced it first hand.

  • My favorite of a string of hits in the 60s when other stuff was considered hotter. I just loved that these guys had a good laugh while making great music.

  • People whove never heard this bands music seem to knee jerk put these guys down, I guess cause of their getup w/the redcoat uniforms and all, but this song has a TREMENDOUS GROOVE!

Another great cut they put out was I Had a Dream.

  • Great!

  • Heard this on the radio today, At first I thought it was the Beatles, but the sound wasn't right. Had to look it up here. I can hear the Beatles influence. Good song!

  • Creedance without these guys? I Love Paul Revere & the boys but that's just not related here. actually this song (Him or Me is very Beatle influenced (so the music goes around and around and it comes out here)!

  • What a hit machine, and it sounds just as fresh today.

  • without this song, there wouldn 't have never been a creedence clearwater ! this gold mine and others like hungry set the path to Fogerty in my opinion (melody, urge, rythm...) THE PERFECT SONG

  • Flamin' Groovies did a killer version of this great song - more Byrds'ish - which can be found on some Powerpop sampler-CDs.

  • Paul Revere and the Raiders featuring Mark Lindsley were the best period.Great songs like Him or Me,Let Me, simply the best.

  • i love this.. has some awesome music i luv u amer & its u baby all the way

  • Love this song!!! It's about darn time someone posted this song.

  • ...s'like this is back when I was 9 or 10 years old....still luv this one....enjoy.........

  • Nice! Didn't The Flamin Grovies do this too?

  • Mark Lindsey, with or without the stage duds, is (and was) a very fine musician whom I have enjoyed for years.

Thank you for sharing this song.

  • One of my favorite Raiders songs! Thanks for posting!

  • GREAT SONG! The Raiders best! Great lead guitar - perfect harmony and IT ROCKS! The band at its absolute best!
