If this were 30-40+ yrs ago, and a child were to be born like this, they'd be placed in a mental institution and not be given the proper car such handicapped children need. Thank God times have changed, eh?

Actually Lucas enjoys a meaningful life. Just ask his father who wrote a book about him called "Lights From Lucas." He has learned much from Lucas and vice versa. Its unfair he will not progress at a normal rate, but he learns a little every day.
