It's the most physically and mentally challenging of all muay and have filtered out all traditional bullshit from the system. I've recently did some more research on muay martial arts. Some styles of boran are too tradition based. One of them focus on the movement of monkeys rather than to be fast and effective and another where the practioner is based around a series of "dances" and stances. However, I found out about the true muay "mai tai" and it is amongst the most effective today.

I'm tired of people saing the Thai's stole this martial art. The old styles of Muay Boran were INFLUENCED by the khmer styles, AND BY INDIAN MARTIAL ARTS. The Khmer styles have more thrust to them than Thai styles do. But their styles were made during times of war. Bokator is almost identical to Muay Thai just with more grappling and more flashy less effective striking. stick to muay thai and jiu jitsu if you can.

Muay Boran is not flashy and it was not developed that way. Tony Jaa makes it look flashy because he combines it with stuntwork and gymnastics to make it look flashy on screen.
