  • Are those plates on the shoulders?

  • @zKleinerWurm

    nom, just soft armor

  • Yeah. Old, but it works. They should update?

  • @marineooo5 They use the Improved Outer Tactical Vest now. Same thing but less constrictive and better side protection.

  • DRAGON SKIN IS WAY BETTER

  • @davidsolis22 You know Dragon Skin's mini-plates fall apart under heat right? So your paying more money, for something that will become a giant piece of cloth in the desert. Great idea!

  • @airsoft3321 What's your reference??

  • @davidsolis22 Testing. It's kinda common knowledge. The company that makes it admited it.

  • @airsoft3321 i doubt it! show some evidence behind it

  • @davidsolis22 I can't list any one source, but search about it on Google images and normal. It is EVERYWHERE on military, gun, gear, and other assorted body armor forums. Somewhere there is a video of a DS vest getting tested and failing (the scales glue melts in the heat of the middle-east, and they also break up when in the cold). Dude, DS is just too expensive for it to be useful.

  • @airsoft3321 i will, thank for info.

  • @davidsolis22 It's really expensive, it's also twice as heavy as the interceptor. Not only that, but the adhesive it uses melts or chips from extreme cold or heat. Also, pinnacle armor LIED about its NIJ certification. I heard that the USAF is going to ban pinnacle from even making deals with the military EVER. It's also been tested by The ARMY and the USMC. Dragon skin sucks, it's just a scam that will get people killed.

  • LOL its is gunwebsites....... i feel like a dud. lmao love this channel eitherway.

  • @UndoneB4Broken

thanks, this is our gear channel (where we put all the non-gun stuff)

  • this the dude from gunwebsites? sure as hell sounds like him lol. and does an awsome review like gunwebsites does.fantastic channel either way im subscribing

  • yes but the biggest question can you shoulder a rifle while wearing it

  • @rank666 yeah.

  • I have one of these but its woodland and i dont have plates or foam. I use old magazines as plates LOL.

Do you guys recommend getting foam on the inside?

Do the guys in the field have foam in theirs?

  • so, if the adhesive is the only problem with the dragon skin, why not just change it? if DS is so superior why not just use a different kind of adhesive?

  • hey, what happened to dragon skin, i know all the controversy and im not saying is better than the interceptor, but really, what happened?

  • where do you get the leg parts?

  • I love how people have thumbed up the "dragon armor" comment like they know what the fuck they're talking about. How about you start with calling it by its name, which is dragon skin, not dragon armor

  • What's killing most soldiers isn't the bullets its the sharpnel from IED, RPG's, etc. I mean I want something that would if shrapnel hit that area would help protect me from that.

  • @redmustang03

    good point

  • @GearBuyersGuide I was wondering if you could show a video of how to put the armor together I have the same armor but i cant quite piece the thing together

  • @redmustang03 its not always the shrapnel. Its the explosive force caused by the explosion. Explosive forces can be focused and shaped according to the application. I myself was wounded badly and shaken badly after artillery fire. The strange thing is, I was lucky the force was projected away from me but the bushes and house next to me (200cm away) disintegrated. I promise you that body Armor and flak jackets are almost worthless. in this situation..

  • dragon armor is better.

  • @aznhmongbboyz

better at costing way more and falling apart?

  • @GearBuyersGuide actually, dragon armor is far more resilient. field tests prove it. the only reason the us military won't use it is money. they don't care about the soldiers, they just care about money.

  • @masonroe157900000 the plates in dragon skin displace with extremes in temperature and over time, leaving holes through which a bullet could pass unimpeded.

  • @SaintCarnifex thanks for the information. i didn't know about that.

  • @masonroe157900000 The vests fell apart in extreme heat and cold, its heavier than the interceptor and pinnacle lied about the nij certification for dragon skin. The protected parts of the vests cannot take shots at extreme angles. Also, it costs ALOT as you said. Not only that, but its too hard to repair in the field compared to traditional plates. For the interceptor, all you do is switch plates. You have to send dragon skin back to get it repaired which is not always possible on the field.

  • @aznhmongbboyz lol dragon skin armor aint worth pissing on dude. soon as the glue hits a certain temp the glue gets soft and the armor falls apart. LIQUID ARMOR. is the way of the future. look in to that . realy intresting stuff.

  • Can you make a video on how to assemble this becasue I am a civilian and I am having trouble putting parts on the vest(DAPS and Side carries mainly)

  • is this lighter weight with out 30lbs or amrmor or so?

  • How much? I want one!

  • does this vest take steel plates??

  • @misterh775 They should be able to take steel plates as long as they are the correct size for the holders. I think for the front and back it is 10' by 12' and the sides are 8' by 8' and they can extend but im not sure to what size.

  • is this available for civilian purchases?

  • @madmarine2010 yeah sure, without ballistic plates.

    an expensive coat innit

  • Dragon Skin beat it, weighs less, and is flexible.

  • @meltdown1232000

Costs way more, and melts in desert heat (where we live)

  • @GearBuyersGuide cost aint shit if its save'n our lives down range .. da heatin problem can be fixed wit different methods .. like really think bout it

  • @tru6luaCe666

Cost is a BIG issue, what world do you live in?

  • @GearBuyersGuide my guy .. dis is the 21st century & dis is america .. we go off based on dis very line .. " if der is a will, der is a way " ... dnt sleep on dragonskin jus yet my friend .. u neva kno

  • @GearBuyersGuide ehh haha our governments spent 12 trillion dollars, so apparently not lol

  • @GearBuyersGuide A human life is PRICELESS

  • @Oraserogue

    then why go to war?

  • @GearBuyersGuide A good question indeed. Obviously some people in the world does not share my point of view and they want this or belive that or just randomly want to kill stuff. To protect innocents and to create a more stable world some armed forces are nessesary. I'm not saying all wars fought today could not have been averted, but if they are indeed started then my opinion is that every soldier shuld have the best protection available on the market today, so that they may one day return home

  • @GearBuyersGuide Tests performed on DS were rigged. Air Force and Army info was doctored, which has been verified by a forensics company recommended by the FBI. 18+ fraudulent items were located in the docs.

Army banned DS 2 months before any testing had been done.

2004 Army test was performed using level IV ammo against a level III vest. Vest STILL stopped over 55% of the rounds.

House Armed Services Comm demanded a shootout between DS and Int...still not done.

  • @meltdown1232000 they didn't have to do tests because they already knew that the adhesive holding the plates together could NOT stand the riggors of "desert" warfare the heat being the primary one in a snowy environment DS would do fine as long as you dont bend ove because the plates only overlap in one direction and its down so if you get shot up at (like when your in a helicopter) or get shot from behind while bending over (like when you bend over to help someone) you'd be dead

  • @meltdown1232000 no, the armor is good but it gets expensive.

Reasons once the dragon skin armor is hit the disk break, to replace the disk you have to replace the whole damn vest, which means you need to have truck loads of extra vets, which means more fuel will be used etc etc etc, called Legistics people.

  • @Dogmeat1950 In the test performed at the Police Officers Pistol Range in Fresno, Ca., not one disc broke after over 100 hits from 9mm, .223, and 7.69. And your arguement doesn't hold water, anyhow. If the plate in the Interceptor breaks, and they do, you have the same costs in providing replacement parts. Only difference, you can carry enough replacement discs for an entire DS vest in the same space at ONE Interceptor plate.

  • @GearBuyersGuide How much is too much to pay to keep a soldier alive?

  • American Hunting & Sporting Forum

    Giuen Outright Google Groups

  • Oh and BTW, with all the extra attachments on including the side SAPIs in you will over heat in no time flat given that over here in Iraq the temp is a steady 125+ degrees in the sun. One thing that isn't covered is that this armor is really bad for your lower back. I have known many NCOs that have back problems after wearing this thing for a few tours.

  • @jaysunpduran my drill sgt said a lot of people end up having stress fractures like crazy all over their back, in basic we only used the basic chest part and the neck protector.

  • I REALLY didnt like wearing this thing. The IOTV isn't that much better really. If you take off the throat, rear neck guard, and the groin flap at least you get much better range of motion. Currently in the 1-1AD, 2/3FA Bravo Btry 2nd Plt. I am a gunner in the lead truck so range of motion and speed are a must in case we have a roll over in our MRAP.

  • This stuff must be unbearably heavy!!

  • @strazzy3

    30 pounds

  • @GearBuyersGuide WOW! That is heavy! Becuz that's just the BA alone...with out other gear!

  • @strazzy3

Yup, armor (and plates) nothing else

  • @GearBuyersGuide THANKS.

  • all the money spent in the military for body armor and this is the best garbage that they can designed for our military. The developers need to really get their act together liquid armor is state of the art technology that needs to be used. it is basically a fluid that turns to a solid like the ceramics used for body armor in bullet proof vests. It weight only a few kilograms and is very flexible so technically its possible to make a full body suit.

  • it's not supposed to stop bullets without plates in..

the vest without the plates wouldn't probably even stop a .22....because it has NO plates.. the plates are the ONLY thing in the vest that can stop bullets.

i seriously....do NOT think u were in ramadi. or let alone the army.

  • @SlyNicolai Im kinda confused my bro is in iraq and he wears these i saw videos of how bad they were but have u seen the one vid were the soldier was saved by his interceptor against a dragonav?

  • @SlyNicolai i hated that armor. but hell its better then nothing u ever see the turtle suits we d boys wear they fuckin suck

  • @ SlyNicolai

it will stop bullets and frags thats it's designed to stop..

Please don't comment unless you have something to add to the discussion thats valuable / accurate

  • @GearBuyersGuide it only stops frags

  • @GearBuyersGuide i like turtles

  • @ SlyNicolai

Wow, so they don't do what they don't claim they can do.. Sounds like you really discovered something there

Forgot to mention it can not let the wearer fly, it does not make the wearer invisible, and it doesn't let the wearer breath underwater

  • why don't you have the groin flap on?

  • it is? lying in front of the vest. quit visible.

  • sorry my ad I'm kind of oblivious some times

  • where do you buy point blank body armor such as the iotv or the otv

  • just don't get shot no matter what you are wearing

  • you guys are idiots. why dose pinnacle armor only allow testing dead straight angles????

because they know if a shooter comes in from the far left or right the bullets have a great chance of slipping into the armor.

  • Which would be a problem with ANY armor. Right?

  • Some are getting issued plate carriers. They are much lighter and easier to put on and off.

  • Is this what our troops are currently using?

  • Some might be, but this is getting old

  • no, they're not using interceptor body armor any more.

the army uses: Improved Outer Tactical Vest

the marines use: Modular Tactical Vest

  • @JonGarrett2008 What do AirNG and ArmyNG eod use? And airforce? And Navy? Seal, Sars, EOD, ? etc. etc.

  • @7REDDRACO7

I havent done any research on what others are wearing.

  • dragonskin is far far superior to anything else. the only reason it failed the army testing was that the adhesive used to hold the composite tiles together melted in extreme head causing them to fall to the bottom of the vest. so there were no tiles in the chest area and all the bullets had to go through was the cover. i vote they use different adhesive and get this out to the troops now!!

  • its very good but have u ever worn one they are bout 10 pound heavier than the iotvs with sapis in it

  • doubt it very much. that'll be some BS made up courtesy of the US army to try and get the public to vote against dragon skin

  • well ok then i just have 2 of the iba with all of the plates and my buddy as a dragon skin vest but ok dork do du

  • right...your buddy has a dragon skin vest. ok then. and try to be mature about this and dont use abusive language. those vests should be out in theatre saving lives

  • yes u r right but i think that the individual should have the right to choose

  • and who wouldnt choose dragonskin?

  • i wouldnt fyi but yea the should have the means to pick and choose.

  • and why not dragonskin? for my information?

  • cause its to heavy for me im a little guy but its who ever is up to carryin the weight plus pack rilfe ammo and all the other good stuff, but it may b just fine for u

  • still dont know how you got hold of dragonskin. since the last guy to aquire a vest was arrested. i'd go for the extra weight since the protection is far superior and the mobility goes without saying

  • i dont have one a buddy of mine and yea its funny how people can get a hold of things

  • DRAGON SKINS AWESOME!!

  • Dragon Skinshould be used by our military...

  • it melts in the heat from what i'm told

  • Maybe, but if does im sure they'd already fixxed it cause this armor is suppose to be used by some Spec op forces.

  • worse yet it does not fully disperse the kinetic energy of the bullet unlike standard plates, and people have been seriously injured using it. imho it would be better if they placed dragon skin over some level 2 plates especially if used in arctic warfare.

  • now thats an idea I like

  • the adhesive used to hold the discs together melts in the heat. thats the only reason why it failed army testing.

  • Id rather have Dragon Skin...

  • it should only weigh less then 20LBS if it was a size medium

  • And I can buy these in arizona??

  • sure I've seen a bunch for sale

  • For civilians?

  • yes

  • Im am currently living in New York city and when I see videos like this one makes me think Im living on another planet.

  • can't you buy body armor there?

  • Impossible unless you work on a place where you need it :/ ! Same Crap qith guns.

  • wtf you can even buy it in germany ...

here you get everything the vest the helemt and the paltes if you have the money and the connections or the right shop even new...

  • Hey mate, and the price on that ?? Could I buy the plates??

  • I am moving to Arizona Land of the Free !!

  • hey i live in arizona and it sucks over here....

  • @shotbydalonewolf How come it sucks?? You better have a relevant excuse.

  • some of the people the ALL THE TIME HEAT and not my type of envioment... dads military gotta live here though oooh and not to mantion almost every where you go theres some kind of plant if you touch it it stabs you ! xD that can be a tree a bush a freaking flower grass (dead grass) ect ect : /

  • @shotbydalonewolf Please stop smoking whatever you smoking. You make absolutely no sense.

  • lol haha im more of an east person i love the grass snow rain im from SC lived in germany for some 6 1/2 years : /

  • @shotbydalonewolf I live in germany also.Berlin I am from nyc I lived in NC for about 5 years.Fort Bragg

  • sumpter SC here though thats where im from we were stationed on rammenstine in germany... now were on davismonthan :/

  • I think your a little confused on those inner side protectors. There is another side plate carrier that you are missing that actually protects your side, that sits on the outside of the main vest covering the adjustment straps on both sides. The side parts you have are designed to go outside the main vest but slide inside the side plate carrier, giving your armpit coverage. Wearing the parts you have inside the vest get very uncomfortable and detracts from proper wear.

  • thanks I'll look at that again, they are uncomfortable

  • That system is pretty good if used correctly, but there is a lot of misconceptions on exactly how to wear it. First its designed not to hang from your shoulders but to hug your stomach. Proper donning is to loosen the side straps, put it on and Velcro/snap the front, then grab the shoulder straps lift it up a little while another person tightens the side straps pretty tight. If this is done correctly it will hung your midsection and not hang on your shoulders.

  • Is it availible to civilians? What price?

  • sure, Price varies I guess, $700+ I'd guess

  • man i hated the PASGT, its was heavy, and it moved around too much on your head when you ran. Then I was issued the new MITCH helmet, that thing is a work of art compared to the PASGT. its light, and stays put when you move

  • I think most people agree with you

  • You sell body armor on the commerical market? I would be interested in buying. For personal use (not military) but i would be happy to provide military ID or anything else you need. thanks

  • If you know someone in peshawar pakistan you can buy the SAPI plates for $100 and some kind of french military issue plates for $75

  • LOL so that's where thye go when a US shipment is "missing"!

  • I have this vest....great for .44 magnums not for ball bearings and masonry nails shredding one at 22,000 FPS. Claymores or ie IEDs now all goes well and DOD chats with me Sept and Oct perhaps LS HARD Armor plates will be on all these,,OK?Time for Real Body Armor!

  • YA THIS ARMOR IS GOOD AT FIRST SHOTS...BUT WHEN YOU GET HIT THE SECOND TIME ITS A HOLE LOT DIFFERENT....WHY?? cause it uses ceramic plate which breaks off upon first hits.....when it break...your a sitting duck...i say

"DRAGON SKIN" is the best there is........

  • unless you are in the heat

  • in the heat of what???battle?? dragon skin can out perform interceptor in a number of way...in mobility, flexibility, protection and comfort...you can bend your body more than you can when you where the interceptor.....

  • you obviously don't read the reviews, or you are in denial

Drogonskin melts in the heat and falls apart

    We live in the desert..

DS is not even an option here

You can love it all you want (in theroy) now go try to buy some and get back to us

  • What happens when a bullet hits the dragon scale at an angle? Can it like go in between overlaping scales? Or like knock one of hte scales out of place? Isn't that how you would stab a knight wearing overlapping armors...well in the movies. ;P

  • One big problem it is very expensive and very hard to make; yes very good but soldiers need Both all IOTV and NEW type of HARD ARMOR!

  • this body armor suck ass

  • really?

  • Yes it does.

  • sorry to hear that, good thing this set isn't yours then. You wouldn't be happy with it at all

  • i owned one i know. Yes i heard soldier got killed by it. also remember the vest can only stop 9mm rounds with with sapi plates it can only a lil bit front and back of your body not all over. for what i like is to own a Dragon skin body armor.

  • good luck with that

  • Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS) first used on MOLLE gear, but is now found on a variety of civilian gear too

I think of it this way..

    MOLLE gear uses PALS webbing

  • not to sound ignorant, but what does PALS stand for? when i was in the USMC we called the gear with that webbing MOLLE for MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment.

  • I dont know what this guys talking about, the new OTV's suck dick. the one where you pull the cord and the whole thing just falls apart. yeah the first time i put it together it took like 45 mins. piece of shit. id rather have the old ones

  • What's wrong with the IBA's mobility?? I've owned the SDS system (With real panels and repro plates) and it's one of the most mobile, comfortable systems i've fielded...

  • I think the iba is really good i own one made by point blank

  • my otv sucks!

i mean it protects pretty good yes, better than my IOTV but its about to fall apart.

my neck protector is totally fu***d up.

where can i get me an good iba?

  • i could sell you one. It's in pretty good condition.

Get a hold of me and i'll give you more details. been trying to sell it for a couple of months.

  • There is nothing flexable about the daps

  • true
