  • i'm saying this at 11 yrs old:ELLA FITZGERALD IS SUCH THE CUTEST THIG EVER!!!!!THT WHY MY BLK HISTORY REPORT IS ON HER!!!!!

  • No no no

  • Look at 1:23

  • What is she doing in the front of the bus?

  • Was that Abbot and Cobstello on the back of the bus?

  • @Rdgrail Yes. it's from the movie Ride 'Em Cowboy

  • Comment removed

  • 1:48 O.O

  • My three year old discovered Ella this year, and now it's "Ewa" this and "Ewa" that. This "little basket song" is her favorite so far. One of mine too. Love that little growl/laugh on the third Nono nooono. She's so darn cute!

  • lo escucho por Damian Marley!

  • SHE IS GORGEOUS!

  • Ella is the best female singer of all time. I don't know why people say Whitney houston and Mariah carey are the best. Whitney and Mariah annoy me when they sing. Ella makes me feel good inside.

  • no like her , the greatest

  • Shooot even if she didnt have to sit in the back where was she gonna sit THERE IS NO SPACE AVAILABLE !!!

  • where the hell did i know all the lyrics from?? i had no idea who she was but knew the song nearly from start to finish. :S

  • I think that Ella Fitzgerald possibly had the best female voice for popular music of the entire 20th century. There were many gorgeous voices then but none were quite so sweet and pure.

  • When she says NONONONO, she sounds like consuela XD

  • best bus ride ever.

  • Love and adore you Ella, Always

  • i love ella she sings so good

  • Classics

  • when she giggled near the end, i think i did too.

    HOW DOES SHE DO THAT.

  • This is the first time that I listened Ella Fitz, and I really enjoyed. Made me smile.

  • When this video was make it?

    It's adorable.

    :D

  • @FelipeMorati 1942, from the movie "Ride 'Em Cowboy"

  • What a classic beautiful woman! What a great voice!

  • Most of us already know about the racial issue that existed during the 50s. So,why bring it up here? We shouldn't forget the dark side of the past, but here is not a proper place to discuss it. Please; just let the rest of us enjoy a wonderful performance by one of the greatest voices of all time.

  • She's a great singer. :) She's been my idol since I was really little. Gosh I wish I had a voice like hers!

  • only in a musical can a Black Woman riding on a bus full white Men be allowed to roam to the front looking for a yellow basket in the 1950's.

  • Ella is so good, and that movie clip is very cornball. It makes me smile

  • Lovely voice and lively, too.

This song is special to Ella Fitz, and we loved to sing it along with her.

Brings back happy memories of days when we understood every syllable the great singers sang.

  • Been wanting to see--and hear--this for years. Thanks for posting.

  • beautiful voice

  • What movie is this from?

  • @WiccanLunatic Ride Em' Cowboy (A Bud Abbott and Lou Costello Movie.)

  • Was it Cerise? Lol.

  • did anyone else notice abbott and costello in the back

  • Calling a black person is totally acceptable. People are so hung up on being politically correct that they don't even understand how stupid they really are. I'll never forget the time when I nearly spit out my drink when colleagues referred to visitors from Nigeria and Jamaica, as African-Americans...they're NOT Americans. Duh!

  • I have intentionally pressed dislike button in Slipknot - Psychosocial song 2 mins ago. I like metal but I don't know, I didn't like it. The thing is no, I am not fan of Justin Bieber. But I don't want to be lynched, that's why wrote this here (i.e. I don't have balls).

  • 1:47 I was left in stitches! LMAO!

  • The movie is Ridem cowboy you can see the trailer on youtube it's funny

  • The movie is Ridem cowboy you can see the trailer on you youtube it's funny

  • if anybody knows from which movie is the extract pls write me inbox <3

  • I love her laugh.

  • The only "black" on the bus...oh gee, we've come a long way and yet not far enough

  • best. bus ride. ever.

  • iam i old or what? i remember this tune

  • .... Come on guys standing .... For us girls, with Ella, it's been a good time we're on stage! :))

    ........o0o.

.. Sube chicos .... Para nosotras, con Ella, que ha sido un buen momento estamos en el escenario! :)) .........o0o.

...Allez debout les gars.... Car nous les filles, avec Ella, ça fait déjà, un bon moment qu'on est sur scène ! :))

  • Man, her voice was so clear and she was on pitch and everything! Love her voice!

  • This is a good video foreal.''Ella Fitzgerald''.

  • even when she was so young, she was a cut above everyone else ... natural swing ...

  • I am so glad I share my birthday with this wonderful lady--April 25. Bless you Ella--you left this world more wonderful with your talent.

  • i love her voice she is so good OMG

  • This was an Abbott and Costello movie.

  • 20 people don't deserve to live.

  • She sings so adorable

  • as always - The best!

  • 2:11 video: 1938 #1 hit "A-Tisket, A-Tasket" sung by Ella Fitzgerald (April 25, 1917 – June 15, 1996).

  • Miss Ella is the chosen one her fans wish could simply be before them for one meeting. I'd love to babble to her how her song books keep me company. I STILL literally weep quite openly at losing her. Her family and friends were blessed to have had her close. Ella will always be my ideal.

  • i like her laugh

  • She was so adorable and talented.

She is really my singing inspiration, though Ill never have the singing chops to be like her.

  • at 1:48 listen to her laugh!!! :D

  • I'm a 30 year old and I'm far from understanding the amaziness (yes that's a word for now)!! She is AMAZING!!! I can't capitalize my words big enough. And for her to be so successful in that era, is more a testament of her amazing legacy. I'm getting emotional listening to her sing. I love my black history and she is definitely a trailblazer for artist now that just don't understand or appreciate a pure soulful voice

  • She is amazing! I want to be like HER when I grow up!

  • I love this Song. Ella was the greatest.

  • Who knew? Ella had the first music video ... With her clothes on ... Watch this MTV!!!

  • @barbobbie - this was hardly the first. But I get your point.

  • have to do a report on (THE FIRST LADY OF SONG) didint know how talented she really was!!!!!!

  • if I were her I would go around town betin the crap out of every little girl in town until one gave me my f#cking yellow basket back >:)

  • Who. Disliked. This.

    WHO?!

    grrrrr...

  • @beeker255555515 no one!!

  • Anyone notice how she started out and finished in the back of the bus? This used to be a fact of life.

  • @Hnorc Yes!! But they were very slick, she did not start out sitting, but looking. Also, she had a lot of interaction with the whites and at the end she sat down in frustration, as if she had given up.

  • @Hnorc you right, but they put this scene the movie just for Ms Ella those white extras was sooo glad to see her pretty black self get on the bus. She got paid more than any of them. lol

  • @Hnorc wow that was some observance and so profound. what are you a harvard grad?

  • @Hnorc and not a good one at that

  • @Hnorc I don't understood ... ?

  • @Hnorc Yep I caught that as well.

My 4 year old has recently discovered Ella. He is quite in love with that golden voice!

  • Ella could only sit in the back of the bus.

  • @amatluck True. But Ella moves up to the front of the bus in many eyes with her incredible talent--she supercedes the narrow confines of her age.

  • i love ella!!!

  • my mommy sang this very often when i was very young:) brings an instant smile on my face"~" wonderful... 5/5

    Missu

  • i love ella!!! <3

  • That was nice. :)

  • Did it ever occur to you that the ppl who come here to say they dislike this are only doing that because they want to annoy those who really do like it? Some ppl are very miserable and feel totally worthless and the only time they feel alive is when they are doing or saying something ugly.....because common sense says to me that if they really disliked this so much they never would have come to it in the first place. Remember for low self-esteem ppl, neg attention is better then none at all.

  • I LOVE HER SCRATCHY LAUGH!!! it's so adorable :)

  • Awh I love when she said "Tisket" at 1:30!

  • Ella is just to funny in this video it's a joy to see and listen to her

She sure can chase the blues away.

Un reméde contre les idées noires .Love that woman

    Jmb

  • 18 people's hand was shacking when they wanted to press the like button. They've lost that yellow bascket

  • this is my favorite artist. :D she's really fun!

  • she is just so adorable!^^

  • I used to sing this song at karaoke. I love Ella, but this movie reeks of the racism back then. The Jewish made Jazz popular among whites in America back then after they took Jazz singers to Europe and Jazz took off there. Saw a great documentary about it. Ella is 1 of the best.

  • love it! :D

  • She's so adorable ...

I love when she says "No, no, no, no ... " :3

I wanna hug her, lol ... so adorable xDD

  • This scene is just like Shirley Temple singing The Good Ship Lollipop except Shirley grew up to be a black jazz singer, like Al Jolson. Was he Jewish, probably JOlson.

  • @etbella3 I LOVE Shirley Temple (:

  • who would dare dislike this video

  • she's divine !

  • @belisafinotar She belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

  • What side of the bus did she have to sit on?

  • shes cute

  • @etbella3 Yay! AMERICA! XD Good old America and their amazing government

  • What a voice :-)

  • how can 16 people be not loving this!!! its classic its great!

  • you see Ella is handling this very gracefully, 'cuz Billie Holiday would raised hell & smacked everyone on that bus, "WHERE THE F##K my yella basket at??"LOL

  • @cdc2200 I wish I could I could favorite comments! XD AHAHAH SO TRUE

  • I freaking LOVED that giggle

  • With whats going on in the world today, we need some movies like this. Just to keep our spirts up, don't you?

  • To those who don't know what this movie is, Ride Em" Cowboy. I still love this movie So enjoy it. Ladyprowler.

  • ninenine : THANK YOU

  • It's funny how she is sitting in the Back of the bus!! SMH even she is the star of the video. wowww

  • in muic we had to do a project on jazz musicians and ours was ella and we presented it today. she was really cool

  • This song is so much fun! Great!

  • I love Ella, I saw her twice in person, I love the song, and I love the video, but doesn't that busload of cowboys look just a little too much like "The Good Ol' Boys" in "The Blues Brothers?"

  • i love this i love her laugh , "IS IT CERISE?" " NOAHAH NO NOOO"

  • @lulasinh It's so cute and characteristic! XP

  • @lulasinh This song makes me think of Jew Brisket and I don't eat animals or milk even. Gross. Jews have Tay Sachs from eating Kosher-Tortured Brisket, a brasket. That's why they are basket cases.

  • @etbella3 A vegan bigot! Why not try that shit in Nazi Germany, you ass.

  • @lulasinh she bugged out for a split second

But Cute ...and look at Costello hangin on

  • Comment removed

  • And to think this was an Abbott and Costello flick... Good for you, boys.

  • Does anyone have a copy of the young Ella singing the original recording of this song? If so, pleeeeeeeeese post it on YouTube.

  • thanks for this treasure

  • I wrote this on a Billie Holiday video and here I go again: I'm frozen 'cause I've heard greatness ...greatness from Billie and Ella, and Abbey and, and some many. My music is here, but stalling to be heard. I'm not insecure of the messages I get as gifts from somewhere, to help me understand this mess, but goddesses that sing and explain like no other animal on this earth, makes me want to walk among them. Oh well. I guess I'll have to just settle for a walk miles behind them.

  • I LOVE HER VOICE!! BEAUTIFUL!

  • i love a tisket a tasket ella fitzgerald is sooo AWSOME!!!!!

  • @MsKimmova hahahaha yeah I totally support that! funny!

  • @MsKimmova lol

  • @MsKimmova Thats funny; hahahahaha!!! good thought

  • wow just to think how music videos have come along....and kinda neat that this video was filmed before the civil rights movement with a black woman singing with a load of white men! Love you ELLA FITZGERALD!! :)

  • Ella certainly had the voice to achieve just about anything she wanted, in just about any song she wanted. Even though this is a silly kiddie song, and you might think it's beneath her talent, it's wonderful and swinging nonetheless. And its popularity is how her career got started, too.

"Was it red?" "No, no, no, no!"

"Was it green?" "No, no, no, no!"

    "Was it cerise?"

  • 14 deaf people disliked this video.

  • Her singing makes me sad that she can't find her basket. Don't steal her basket!

  • 14 people who thumbs downed this song now has 982 enemies.

  • Love her and this song, I was born in the 40's. One of my special songs. Hope it will be yours to those who were born in the,40'.. LadyProwler

  • HAHAHAH @ 1;50

  • what a voice on that girl. god bless her.

  • i love dis song

  • Hah. This is when people actually had to have talent to be singers. Listen to this, youth of today. This is all without autotune.

  • what movie is this from ??

  • @twigbass This is from the 1942 Abbott and Costello film, "Ride Em' Cowboy".

  • I sang this song in the 1st grade for the Spring Concert!

Ella Fitzgerald is my inspiration to sing <3

(: I really look up to her.

  • I know that she was in films, but I didn't know that she actually made an appearance, I just thought that she was a singer!

  • Is there another song she sings that is jumpy and dance-able like this?

  • I love Ella, Abbott and Costello on the way to the Dude Ranch!

  • this song and her smile ALWAYS make me feel good.

  • ella looked so young here. she always sounds so joyful when she sings.

  • Nice you picked up that tune right away
