  • @rampanthubby: Well, Jeff will always remain a legend and you will always remain an asshole.

  • 1000***from greece

  • That Was A Crazy Concert!

  • Eric Loved it!

  • wowww!

  • beautiful guitar player its big one

  • Big respect.

  • @rampanthubby You Fucking Shithead, go kill yourself...

  • auramac,

You need to try and find "Last Call". If you don't have it already, you will not be disappointed. It is not his normal rock style but it does show his prowess as a musician and as a performer. Jeff Healey should be in the R n R Hall of Fame and should not have to wait until the 2013 class as outlined in the criteria to become inducted.

  • Nice

  • Sorry, meant to write "virtuoso".

  • I'm not blind, but left-handed. I taught myself to play horizontal guitar on a righty guitar, never thinking I'd get anywhere. Eventually I'd learned chords, got a lefty, and was writing songs- but still playing in a chair- too late to learn the 'regular," or "proper" way. I thought I was the only person on the planet who played this way- until I saw Healey. Vindication!

  • He was blind. Sadly, he's dead.

  • I don't want to offend anyone, I don't know who this guy is, but why doesn't he stand up and play properly?

  • @Fitzybabe65 he was blind.

That's probably just the way he taught himself, from age 3.

    He died 2008.

  • @Fitzybabe65 That's the way he taught himself, he could see no one playing, i'm not beeing mean, just telling what I've read a long time ago. So once he started playing like that, it was like his way to play, and if you play any instrument, u know that there are some addictions, somethings that you do, maybe it's wrong, but you just do it because when u learned, that's how u first thought it was the way it's suppose to be played.

    Peace.

  • @Fitzybabe65 He was blind and had some severe health issues the last few years of his life, so he may not have felt very well when this was recorded. Rest always, virtuous Norman Jeffrey Healey.

  • Nice!

  • Jeff must have been sent from rock and roll heaven when he was among us.

He had already seen the light of music. Thanks for your presence - r.i.p. my friend.

  • someone came in wrong @ 2:25, but I'll forgive them this time... ;)

  • Best cover of this song I've ever heard.

  • A true great.

  • monstrueux!!!!!! j'ai vu jeff healey en concert à paris en 1990, quelle perte pour le blues avec lui et gary moore. qui va prendre la relève maintenant ?

  • Wow - Pure expression from soul to guitar with nothing in between

  • i agree, the wah sucks, everything else is great!!! live on the healey legacy. RIP buddy!

  • Good version, but who is the dude on the Paul that looks like Ronnie VanZandt and Sam Kinnison had a kid?

  • I'm thinking Clapton would approve!

  • @tessakib Fuck that, Healey has put Clapton to shame on so many of his own tracks. Badge, While my guitar, this song, Clapton don't even come close to touching the greatness that is Sir Jeff Healey.

  • @SatansFloater - God bless him. He was truly a talent. His only " problem " was in whoever mixed for him thinking that a 50% / 50% mixture of band to Jeff's guitar volume was appropriate. I heard him with Little Feat and his volume actually drowned out most of that band. While I do admire gifted talent I actually would have preferred hearing the music with lead guitar to lengths & volumes that " fit well ".A gifted player without a beer bottle handy to throw at his audio engineer I guess ? :- )

  • @SatansFloater Healey's Badge is very cool, and it was on the same CD single as his far-superior-to-the-original Stuck in the Middle With You. But, these are purely subjective judgments. None of us are going to say Dylan did Watchtower better than Jimi, but to say that this is better than Cream's original, or Clapton solo? It's just a cover, Jeff plays it well, but he isn't bringing anything new to it. And While My Guitar Gently Weeps was Geroge Harrison's song, not Clapton's.

  • @Prod1Kh Don't get me wrong, Clapton is a great songwriter and I love his stuff. But in terms of guitar prowess? He plays with very little passion and it's just a case of him running up and down blues scales most of the time.

  • @SatansFloater Yeah, that may be, but the fact is this particular live version is not better than Cream's original, or Clapton's live version from the Behind the Sun tour.

Compare Living Colour's Sunshine of Your Love to Cream's original. Compare Sting's Little Wing (especially live) to Jimi's original. Jeff's Roadhouse Blues to the Doors'. Those covers made the songs new. I don't know who mixed this, but Jeff Healey shouldn't sound like a pub cover band.

  • @tessakib I agree that Clapton may approve, but the singing?? What's up with that?? To satansfloater. As much as I like Jeff Healey this is not as good as Clapton at his worst.

  • this was truly a god given talent, thanks for blessing us mr healy

  • Most under rated guitar player EVER!!! He is one of the greatest !

  • So awesome with my morning coffee today. The day is suddenly looking so much brighter.

  • 19 who disliked it have no musical taste at all!!!

  • man that wah suxs

  • Agree with bulleye. talent out the ass. Really enjoyed his version.

  • If I'm Blind and the first time I pick up a guitar, why do I hold it this way and learn to play this way? Just curious about Jeff's early life and how he came to play so

    greeat with this technique.

    Love & Peace

  • @jizzman6969 I think it was because he was only 2 when he started to play and was too small to hold it ! Cute !

  • one of the best solos i ever seen. i hope clapton saw this video he would have to be flattered that a blind man from canada shredded white room

  • @mladyshelb They played together. Jeff wasn't as under-appreciated as people seem to think. He played with a lot of greats.

  • hey I love Clapton, I love Cream, and I can definitely appreciate the hell out of the fact that (I assume) Clapton and Bruce had the divine inspiration to come up with White Room to being with ... 99% of the time the original song is the best , most basic and honest version ... furthermore I never compare or "rate" songs or players like so many do ..... but HOLY COW this song in Healey's hands is just flat out nasteeeeee .... and what starts at 4:00 is mind boggling ... RIP JEFF

  • soz to Jeff nut nobody touches Eric... Jeff is avarage guitarist... the only thing that makes him good is that he is blind... but every guitarist looks at the fretboard... so what's the whole difference???

    That's my opinion...

  • With all due respect to the great Eric Clapton, this performance is beyond words. Jeff Healey mastered electric guitar as well as anyone ever did.

  • this guy was huge god bless him so awsome

  • I saw Clapton play this live 20 years ago, and this version completely blows it away. Healey had as much talent as any guitarist, ever. What a shame he died so young.

  • Looks like Jack Black on bass.

  • hears more than most see

  • good singin. dont worry about jeff he can handle himself

  • Man, the sound in this was great. Good job.

  • Thank you for posting this video!

  • R.I.P. Jeff we will mis U 4 ever

  • c koi ste video de marde la yetais meme po foutu de focuser sur lartiste principal fallait qui focuse sur le putain de gutarist nowhere sorry jeff pour cet imbécile de caméraman !!!!!!!!

  • Wow! What a hidden talent! I always thought Jeff was the best!

  • amazing really when you think about it

  • What a shit video. Jeff Healey was the star in this clip so why focus on the the Neanderthals backing him you lost the plot on this one. Healey was one damned talented musician so why not show him in a good light you did him no justice.

  • @conquistador53 no kidding, the other guys have no energy whatsoever

  • @conquistador53 because this was the part of his shows where he let his band mates perform a song.

  • i think the audio and the video feeds are off maybe. watch all the players and u will see they are all off. great song though. jeff was an amazing human being and then musician.

  • You have to close your eyes and just listen. I got sea sick trying to watch. Too bad this guy knows nothing about video. Healey is remarkable!!!

  • rofl, that it is indeed my friend...if it was only as simple as that...

  • Greats like Jess and Stevie Ray pass on and what do we have left?

F"%^in X factor contestants... the world is going to $h!t

  • @63Brummie Well, all kingdoms must come to an end; Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Queen, etc.

Music nowadays is an insult to the greats, living or not.

  • Quel merdier ! Comme quoi cela peut arriver aux meilleurs.

  • Seriously?....You've got to be kidding me.......Jeff Healey is beyond believing or even comparing to.....why was the camera constantly ping ponging back and forth on the two tards??.....Should have been on Healey the entire time..........the whole set............on Healey...the entire time..........

    J.H.----- R.I.P.

  • Most under rated guitar player EVER!!! God Bless Jeff! Hope your lettin' it rip up there...

  • @mcdee15 your absolutely right mate :o)

  • thanks metzeptheater 1000*************

  • indeed,slipknot sukcs.

  • RIP Jeff

  • fortunate enough to see him three times when he came to England in the 90's. When he stopped touring I had every intention of going to see him in Toronto.Sadly I left it too late.

  • just gonna say this, the guy with the les paul can fuck off.

  • I think thats eddy from iron maiden. Man he's gained weight.

  • miss you jeff. RIP....

  • yup, he rocked!

  • F*cking sweet wah sound you nailed there JH.

Hope you're having a good time up there with Stevie Ray Vaughan and friends.

  • Slipknot sucks

  • @monkeys350 I FRICKN TOTALLY AGREE

  • He was very good musicman!

  • RIP Jeff Healey

  • Its an awesome version!! Pretty much note for note of the studio recording!!!!

  • RIP...

  • solo far from mediocre

  • Its a live club recording...what the hell do you expect?

  • Bad comment!

  • You're right, Rene, Je hebt helemaal gelijk...

  • When Jeff said in "Roadhouse" to the 'new' bouncer... " I thought you'd be bigger "..... R.I.P. dear guitar master!!!!

  • rip..jeff..awesome version of white room....

  • great

  • R.I.P u Blues Legened.

  • Wow, in some ways it has a totaly different take on the sound we know and get used to. It sort of has a soulful muddy-ishness. I like the fact you can actulay hear his inflection and feeling int he notes. Plus he is ptretty crisp then he all of a sudden goes muddy which is hard to do. His arragements are cool too.

  • already a year without this exceptional talent. RIp

  • Écouter Jeff Healey jouer de sa guitare est un souvenir impérissable, par ca ténacité et sa rage de vivre il nous as transmis sa passion et fait cadeau de sa musique merci Jeff repose en paix.

  • Jeff although no longer with us is truly an inspiration. He is an example that you truly can do almost anything.

  • rip jeff

  • Jeff is a gem!

    Simply the best...

  • The first time I heard Jeff Healey was when I watched roadhouse for the first time at age 10, I'm 23 now. If you've ever tried to play guitar like he does on the lap...You would know it's damn near impossible. He is tearing it up!!!!!! I think it does him plenty of justice.

  • yes i saw the movie to.

but it's nearly impossible to play like that! and than the guitar on the lap it's even hard to play a blues scale!!!!!!!!!

  • Almost better as the original cream version. Oh my god i didn't know Jeff isn't among us anymore. Can anyone tell me what was the reason of his death?? accident ? disease??

  • Cancer.

  • He died of cancer in May of '08. Too bad, he's nothing short of genius..

  • Jeff was a fantastic musician!!! RIP dude...you'll be missed by oh so many. Absolutely Great!

  • Mont Tremblant is a great place to be when the blues festival is going on!

I was there in 2005. It was a pity I had to leave before John Mayal was going to perform.

Jef Healy was a great musician. This performance is not doing him right.

  • Thank you for putting this on You Tube, metzeptheater! I had no idea it was here until a friend alerted me. Jeff was an amazing performer/musician (when SRV said you are hot, you're HOT!) and a truly good and decent guy. Unfortunately it seems that an unfair share of the great guitar players and musicians are taken from this world before their time.

The world is less without him in it. He is sorely missed.

    Thanks again, metzeptheater,

    Jim

  • Jeff Healy R.I.P. !! He Was An Awesome Guitarist!!

  • OMG where have I been? This guy was AWESOME, and I totally MISSED him? What happened to him? When did he die and what from? What an incredible shame for the world to lose such a talent! RIP indeed!

  • he dıed from cancer in april or march 2008

  • Thats almost exactly what I said when I first heard him. I actually feel guilty cause I ONLY HEARD HIS MUSIC FOR THE FIRST TIME A MONTH AGO! Where was I hiding?

  • Note it isn't Jeff with the wah. I completely agree it's way to much wah and the guy using it is a tool.

  • wtf i got 3 thumbs down? are you guys fucking deaf?

As Ed pointed it out, it not Jeff who is playing the wah

  • heh. well, i wasn't one of them giving u a thumbs down... I think I know what u meant, and that would be a thumbs UP. :)

  • R.I.P

  • LMFAO you are an idiot. that's all i have to say.

your comment is so ignorant, i actually laughed out loud when i read it.

  • I just love Jeff Healey ! Many guitarists who have their eyes and can see the light cannot play like Jeff could, but even though, blind or not, Jeff is one of the greatest in the blues/blues rock world. May his soul live in peace beside the greatest of the greatests. Say hi to Jimi for me, would you please? Thanks...

  • RIP bro nobody could lay it down like you

  • DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!

    miss you bro!!!!

  • better than ever! were did the internal drive come from?

  • That guy has a brilliant voice for cream.

  • This was good... But I like the original with, Cream much more...

  • fue una gran pérdida la partida de Jeff, lo recordaremos como lo que fue: uno de los mas grandes guitarristas cuya combinación de sensibilidad y fuerza nos embrujó

  • Great guy with lots of tallent.

Had a wall of LPs and 45's he could identify every one by touch (the groove) alone.

Not many people amoung us with tallent like this, but lots of people with little brains who love to poke at what they don't understand.

  • Heish!!

  • jeff was born with cancer,blind,and plays backwards,by ear,he was only 41yrs old,need i say more...

  • forgot to say that jeff KICK ASS

  • WOW...Just Great!!

  • get over the argument and enjoy the rock

  • March 2nd 2008; RIP Jeff Healey, One of the greatest guitar players that ever lived.

  • so whos palying bass?

  • Alec Fraser on bass

  • You'd never be able to tell by Jeff's enthusiasm but if you look at his left leg you will see that there is a bandage underneath his jeans just above the knee. This was right after his first operation to remove a growth in his leg. It never stopped him from playing great.I would hope that in time people will realize that there was a hell of a lot more to Jeff Healey musically than just a bluesman. That's why all the greats would knock on his dressing room door.

  • Jeff Healey was a wonderful guitarman,he played this song better than Eric Clapton./My opinion/peace and unconditional love..

  • ONe thing I cant stand is "absolutists" i.e. people who have to bag out others abilities simply because they may not be in the top echelon of performing artists on the planet. Jeff may not be as good as Albert Collins, who cares? It's a lot easier to learn when you can see. Jeff is blind and is a great player. Give the man a break.

  • someone please shoot the guy with the wha-wha

  • or at least kick him in the casters...

  • go listen to Albert collins he's not even blind.

  • Very unkind comments-- from someone who obviously sought out a live Jeff Healey performance to make derogatory comment on... Sorry YOU were born with "no casters"-- and I'm sure it has scarred you deeply. However, losing sight at the age of one would appear to be at least as large an obstacle, and the fact that Jeff Healey went on to make noteworthy music (and even star in a movie- "Roadhouse") should qualify him as better than a "side show" act.

  • He can obviously play. But like a lot of other guitar players of recent years its technique over content. His music isn't great blues, people seem to want to give it more worth because he was blind and played in an unorthadox style. Like I said go listen to Albert Collins.

Steven Seagal has been in loads of films and he plays blues guitar, all hail Seagal.

A nocaster is what the Fender Telecaster was called back in 1950/51.

  • Your opinion is well noted. But please don't rag on Seagal. His Tomiki-Aikido skill is only surpassed by his ability to grow his face wider with every suceeding movie-- soon he will exceed ALL existing video formats and at that time will force a true 3D entertainment medium.

    So YES-- All hail Seagal!

  • HAHA, you rock BFDeihl! lol. nicely put.

  • srv seemed to think he was good, and i will take his opinion over yours any day :D

  • Well good for you Loldicks. You've won me over with your reasoning. He must be good if Stevie thought so. I best stop having my own opinions and use everyone else's.

Healey was a skilled guitar player, I don't deny that. But his music just doesn'y move me in any way.The fact that he is blind is irrelevant. There are better blind muscians around Ray Charles,Stevie Wonder for instance.Evelyn Glennie is amazing. She plays up to 60 instruments in her live performances and she's profoundly deaf.

  • nocasterboy -- You ranting on about who is better/best/bestest is laughable -- what, are you 12 years old?? ...

  • I was actually trying to make a point (that you clearly missed) backed up by reasoned arguement.

You are correct though it is laughable. I only do it to get a rise out of thick people.

I'm surprised no one's called me gay or said I have a small penis yet. Thats what normally happens when I disagree with yanks online.

  • I am southern and not a yank! Your apparently not very educated at guitar if you think healey isn't verg good! Do you even have one of his albums how can you justify it by this one video. I own I saw the light by Healy and its one of the best blues albums i have and i have a ton!

  • Why would I have one of his albums if I dont like his music, thats plain stupid. My father liked Healy quite a lot so I have heard plenty. I have explained why I dont like his music. And I'm not getting drawn into a personal slagging match. So lets leave it a that.

  • Well if his music doesn't move you then move on.Accept that it doesn't suit your taste but dont try to justify it by attacking the musician.Comparing piano players to guitar players is irrelevant as a keyboard is much easier to negotiate than a fretboard with your eyes closed.By your own admission you are one of many "you tube antagonists",deliberately posting comments to get a rise out of "thick"? people, an attention seeker.

  • Yes, i'm sure it is easy when you know how, the point i'm making is it's much harder to LEARN if one is visually impaired. Blind people struggle with the everyday basics of life, let alone mastering a musical instrument. At the end of the day, if any musician's work pleases people, they'll always regard them with some sort of reverence, regardless what their talent may be compared to the very best, and people recognize Jeff's accomplishments are that bit special because of his blindness.

  • I can agree with this. Saying that a blind person being this amazing at the guitar is a greater achievement than someone with vision doing the same is like saying that a dog playing a chord on the piano makes him better than Beethoven because the former is so much more difficult.

  • yeah but its a lot different if you learned to play without seeing the guitar stupid hes been blind since he was 1 year old and started playing at 3 years

  • Wow,let's test your theory. First with your 30years experience post a link to some of your work...THEN come on over here to Philly m8 and i'll SKULL F*@# yer eyes out and see how ya do?!? Bloody Wanker freely admits to coming over here to get a rise outta people!! Get a life loser you spend too much time on the web if this is how you spend your time.

  • I can only imagine how he could play if he held the guitar the proper way, comparing guitar players of this magnitude is apples and oranges, comparing them to keyboard and piano players, isnt much of a comparison in my oppinion, pardon my spelling as I am intoxicated!

  • seen him so many times......I just wish I could hear him live again.....a truly incredibly insane talent....yet another true genius gone before it should have happened...

    Peace to you Jeff

  • RIP Jeff!

Enclosed my hats off to Jeff. What a player!!!!

    Matt

  • i hope he is up there with jimi and stevie puffing on a phat one while we all watch this

  • How the hell is he playin that guitar ? I knew he was blind but never realised that he played like that .Absolutly fuckin amazin

  • check out see the light hen its insane he plays it with his teeth and everything

  • Well I guess his is playing guitar with Stevie Ray Vaughan where ever they are!!!!

  • Freakin sweet I didn't know he passed away RIP Jeff

  • I didn't know he passed away, what a God given tallent!! Rock and Roll Heaven!! Imagine that with all the greats!! That's one concert that we will all attend but, I hope we all stick around, learn a few more licks, and show them how they influenced us!!! My prayers for Jeff and his family, RIP

  • i love this version, such a classic. RIP JEFF

  • What a shame...what a huge loss...Truely an inspiration to the blind as well as to all the 'want to be/could be great' guitarists out there. Will miss you man....my prayers to follow .....ROBBYLMP.
