  • Ah so true.. I was a Catholic till I was 12 and realised I didn't believe in God or Religion. Told the priest I was leaving and said, ah so you don't believe. That's still not a good enough reason to leave. Seriously? My Mum still says to me, you're technically still a Catholic. Because I was christened. C'mon people..

  • Heaven is for people who are afraid of the dark.

  • Used to be a site called Countmeout that would allow one to opt out of the church. That site has since shut down due to some changes on Canon law.

Not that would make a difference.

  • The last part, funny cause it's true.

  • The bible is a fairytale. That is all.

  • there isnt really anything funnier than an angry atheist catholic

  • dara, enjoy hell.

  • Comment removed

  • @Batmailord there is no hell ;)

  • haha sticks to the roof of your mouth! so true!

  • oh here we fucking go a video could merely mention the word "God" and a whole fucking religious war breaks out in the comments section. >.>

  • @13Bee1 thats because all atheists just want to provoke and gloat in front of the christians.

  • @EAroste no, it's because the religious people do what they do. they think their religion is the only true one and whoever thinks differently is wrong and goes to hell. well, hell doesn't exist. you believe in it, so it does for you. maybe he doesn't, so it doesnt exist for him. and personally, i don't think it's true. we will die and that's it. nothing.

  • @beex85 sorry bro, but i'm an atheist. just don't see why we should pick fights with the christians all the time

  • @EAroste i didnt say you should. i meant that it's not always the atheists who start the fights. that's what you said. i said that it's mostly the religious people who send everyone to hell who criticises religion.

  • @beex85 Actually, whilst catholics do believe their religion is the one true religion (no religion would exist if it believed itself to be false) they, on the other hand, believe that all other religions have partial truths, Also catholics don't believe that you have to be catholic or even religious to get into heaven. Only that you have to live a good life. So next time you want to leave a comment along those lines, check your facts so you actually know what your talking about.

  • @moctuzuma i've been raised catholic myself, just that i'm not really religious, but I've got an insight in catholicism. if all catholics thought this way, it would be a good start, then they will just have to act this way, too. and there is the problem. not only catholics, but all christians or moslems and everyone else, too! why do you think did catholics invent the inquisition and the crusades in the middle ages? coz they were liberal? yeah right!

  • @EAroste Not all of them but alot of them do. I once had someone go on at me for a good 20 minutes about how jesus never existed. I asked him why he thought this, his reason was "I don't believe one person can simply get loads of others to follow him by saying follow me"

After a few seconds of thought i simply said "Gandhi"

So mate if any atheists want to provoke you, just remember, theres always at least one easy way to shut them up so you can carry on with what you were doing.

  • @moctuzuma as said earlier, i'm an atheist, but i don't see the reason provoking and telling religous people their wrong

  • I am religous but the thing about Catholicism to me is that it preeches about an exclusive afterlife and that it tells me I need to help the less fortunate more when it is one of the most powerful and richest institution on the planet.

  • why don't the bunch of you research on Eucharistic miracles instead of dissing catholics. u might actually see images of the host turned into flesh and blood. and ya catholics are the only child molesters and homophobics i suppose. the rest of you are just holier than thou. grow up

  • @88masp Oh, I've grown up with those. Expert magicians have come forward saying they could easily fake that "miracle". And no, we're not saying that Catholics are the *only* child molesters and homophobes. What is truly unforgivable is the systematic coverup of child rape and the relocation of offending priests, and blaming pedo priest on homosexuality, when in fact homosexuality IS NEGATIVELY CORRELATED with paedophilia. Why don't you do research?

  • haha god so true it does get stuck to the roof of your mouth :P

  • I love the way he says "Feck it"

  • the one true church is the holy catholic church

  • @kenconnor2006

Only true church? Of what religion? Certainly not Christianity. Wee look at a bible will contradict everything your uneducated sentence demonstrates. It is ok though, obviously you are at the wind up............... or you are a junkie.

  • @kenconnor2006 but..how? there is no god.

  • Ever heard of apostasy?

  • @revan1532 that might have more to do with the fact you're 14 and couldn't possibly know what you believe yet... just sayin'

  • @xxxKATE2293xxx he's 14, not 4. give him some credit.

  • @xxxKATE2293xxx

I rejected the Church when i was 12. It became clear to me when the miracle of communion was explained that I could not continue following the teachings of a bunch of sexually oppressed cannibals. It became even more clear to me when I told the nun teaching my CCD class that I didn't believe that the communion wafer became the flesh of Christ and she proceded to tell me that I did.

  • @z3r0t0l3r4ns good for you. I rejected the catholic church when I was 15 and released they were a bunch of sexist, homophobic idiots who were stuck in the ways of the 1800's. I'm not an atheist though. I wasn't disagreeing with the kid, I was just saying that most teenagers will say they're "atheist" without really knowing what it means. And that's the truth.

  • This isn't amusing, its dull

  • Take a strong stand on the abortion issue, that's pretty much guaranteed to get you excommunicated.

  • @zapopaul Or on the ordination of women issue. That'd probably get you en even quicker excommunication...

_Attempted_ ordaining of a woman is among the three most grave sins in the Catholic church. (The other two being: raping children in church and showing disrespect to a piece of those mini-tortillas they call "hosts" or "communion wafers".)

  • Dessicating, by the way...Ha HA!

  • @irelandsnumber1 >It's not affecting you. Seems like you haven't been to the US.

  • @irelandsnumber1 dude you sound like you are going to cry. Read your comment again before telling anyone to calm down.

  • Actually, Dara, now there is a website where you can de-register online- it's called Countmeout.ie. :) and I think you're hilarious!! xD

  • lol Im a practising catholic and i still find this funny :)

  • @irelandsnumber1 Fuck off.

  • Actually you can renonuce your relifgion onlie, I was born into a catholic family, then when Ireached the age of reason I saw through the bullshit.. Im no longer Catholic thank fuck.

  • @buzzmund

    Online?? nyc....

  • I'm a practicing Catholic and this is hilarious ( Dara O'Briain can make anything hilarious). People need to lighten up.

  • Thank fuck I was born into an Atheistic family.

  • hahaha i was brought up catholic, and i remember the bread sticking to the roof of my mouth and not being alowed to use my finger to sort it out! hahaha exactly as he said!

  • Nearly 5% of Priests in the USA are kiddiefiddlers. 1% of the population are Sociopaths/Psychopaths. The Priesthood attracts criminals because it gives them impunity. Bugger that.

  • just to let you all know, i put that comment upa year ago-ish, tks for the thumbs up and all, but thanks to all the arguing with priests and my religion teacher im fairly sure im on the atheist part of the spectrum

    thanks

  • its funny how any video related to religion has people posting these big long boring posts no one really cares about and then work them selves up into some sort of divine rage. half the time funnier than the video itself

  • With Irish people being Catholic isnt just about religion, its like part of our identity. Thats the way I think of it anyway. I don't agree with most Catholic beliefs but I'll always be Catholic because I see it as part of my nationality and culture :P

  • @jrm33lover Bono's protestant. Is he semi-Irish?

  • @jrm33lover So do you think that polish people are Irish?

  • @gbyrne I was saying that being Catholic, being born in Ireland and being of Irish heritage go hand in hand for most Irish people. If you had read my comment in the correct context you would have copped that. Bye now

  • This is so funny! I just dug out a school history book from when I was 13 years old in Liverpool, and we were made to do columns listing the differences between Catholics and Protestants, my husband is still reeling from the evidence, he can't believe I was taught this at school in the 1970s!! Dara, very very funny, I like. lots.

  • Dara O'Briain is my favourite living comedian.

  • I don't believe in god, but I'm catholic!

  • i'm a Catholic and this is so funny!!!

  • I swear, I abuse various substances, I am attracted to people of both sexes and I have attempted suicide. And yet somehow, I still refer to myself as catholic. Funny old world...

  • In that he says of being Catholic "There's no website where you can de-register online" Well....there is!!! I did it last week! google "count me out"

  • I could'nt imagine being anything else!

  • I've opted out of organised religion I've just stopped thinking of myself as any religion. Religious segregation in our schools and in marriage etc is a form of apartheid. A child is a child not a catholic or a protestant child. It's insane to see other people as a religion.

  • there isnt any religious segregation in schools is there?

  • Not within schools but in our school system. You have RC and protestant church schools in the same community dividing children's education by the label of religion. You also have state & church schools dividing children. You can compare that to apartheid it's that separatist a system. Religion should not be allowed to separate children.

  • very true, but the religous nutcases just cant seem to seperate the damn thing from soceity, primary school teachers in Ireland have to be Catholic, atheists and agnostics are not allowed in the profession, i heard a discussion about this on the radio a few weeks back, couldnt believe it

  • Thank you for the best laugh I've had all day : )

  • i dont mind it....

  • My mom actually tried making some calls once to get releived of her babtism, because she didn't want to represent an organization that she never agreed to. (Nor did she want them to earn money for having her on their members list either xD). They refused it cause they "knew" she was just a "lost sheep" who would find her way back eventually. Arrogant bastards...

  • yeah but.. being baptised at birth, yeah its not your own decision but whatevr faith or no faith you are wouldnt you feel comforted that if your baby died they would be in a better place, and baptism is for that reassurance. when the babys grown its their choice whether they are admitted to holy communion or confirmed. thats protestant anyway, i know catholic is different..

  • Well, having no faith, I'm not bothered with that at all...

Also, if you get babtised, they earn money for you... That's where it's a bitch, I think you should get the decision to not support things you don't believe in...

  • WHen he mentioned about the Taliban, I was expecting him to say "you'd be regarded as a bastard" lol

  • it's funny cause there actually is a website now :) (countmeout ie)

  • 1:33 made me laughed so hard!

  • It's feckin' annoying for me.

I'm 14, tell most people i know i'm an Atheist and still have to go to feckin mass.

Do people find the word "Atheist" hard to comprehend or something??

    I mean really..

  • Try to get a sunday job... that would be a good way to justify not going to mass, right?

I feel for you, sounds like a tough situation to be in as a 14 year old.

  • Nah, it's just a phase you're going through that more religion will bludgeon out of you." Some people are like that, eh?

  • I'm Catholic and I don't go to mass :p

  • I'm only 18 but I haven't been to mass in about 7 years, thank fuck.

  • @revan1532

Same for me man, I'm 16 and couldnt get out of a single mass, despite the fact that I could do work while it was on. Although I went to a Catholic school, but we still have rights. Show them you wont accept it, and dont ever give up. Good luck mate.

  • @revan1532 Ya could try putting your foot down a bit ^^;; honestly, i live in britain and so its never been a problem for me. We have one of the lowest worship rates in the world amongst believes, something like 6% go to church out of all chrstians. No one cares anymore, two third of our teenagers are atheists and almost that many of the nation in general. I told my catholic mum i was an atheist and the reaction was "Oh, Okay then." and no more was said because she just didnt care either way.

  • @revan1532

don't go, it's as simple as that

  • @revan1532 Tell them you're a Jihadist Islamic extremist :) they wont be so keen to make you go to mass :P

  • @revan1532 I'm a Catholic and even a self described Papist, but I'd respect my child, at 14, to make their own choice when it comes to Mass. When kids are forced to go, they automatically become repelled with the concept. Two of my sisters lapsed. It's your own private journey to elightenment. Just remember to respect all people, regardless. /// St. Francis said: "Preach the Gosple at all times and only when you have to, use words." It seems like maybe your parents are only using words? :(

  • @revan1532 Annoys me that, you should make your own choices pal.

As a fellow Atheist, I don't believe there is such thing as a religious child as most don't have their own ideas. However do you know why you don't believe in God?

  • @revan1532 Grow some balls man.

  • @revan1532 well, if you said you were a protestant or a hinduist to yoru family.. would you sitll need to go to mass? I am guessing yes.. atheism is a belief too (that God does not exist) so I guess you will just have ot wait lol ^^

Anyway, to declare you do not believe in religious dogma , I think I'd leave ya out of mass, myself stopped going at 10-11ish so ye. good luck although I feel ya..Weekly ceremonies of repetitive bla bla was always a monster to try and stay awake to :)

  • @revan1532

Simple solution to that problem, if you're male next time you're going to mass wear a purple dress with a gay pride badge and when the priest goes to give you communion kiss him. If you're female, dress in a pull away track suit and when the congregation begins the Lord's Prayer pull off the track suit and start pole dancing on the nearest crucifix you can reach, if you cannot reach the cross a priest will do in a pinch.

Either way you will not have to attend mass anymore.

  • @z3r0t0l3r4ns thanks man, great recommendations ^^ i wonder how you got out of it. also, that comment is dated a year back, ive been ridiculing them since then. but thanks for the comment. I've gotten shitloads

  • @z3r0t0l3r4ns But depending on who else is attending the mass, your organs don't have to stay in your body anymore.

  • @revan1532 i was in a similar situation, but now i am 22. i still go to church at Christmas and easter, not for any religious reason. I think of it as your Parents watching you play sport or a Recital, it is more as a favor to and to support them.

  • @revan1532 Lol I'm a Catholic and never go to mass.

  • @NCONiall what is your favorite miracle in the past century there have been about a good 30 that you can find out a lot about on youtube. I do enjoy this video it is pretty funny but I am glad my church didn't give up on me. I am a eucharist minister so my favorites are the recent eucharistic miracles there are about 5 in the recent decade that I know of and more are probably still in the process of verification. I came to understand my faith in college and just 2 years ago. God Bless

  • @revan1532 I know what you mean, entire family Catholic and I say to my parents that I'm an atheist and my dad says "No changing religion until 18" I stopped going to mass about a year ago. My parents stopped noticing the fact that I don't go in exchange for me not complaining if I'm forced to go

  • @revan1532 Going to mass is more than Religion nowadays ;)

    Liberal Catholic ftw

  • @revan1532 they just dont believe you

  • "No animal flesh in the world that jams itself to the roof of your mouth!" hahahaha :D so true... still the only part of mass I ever looked forward to.

    Hurray for the Catholic Atheists!

  • Hahaha, Catholic atheism is the best, you don't have to go to mass or anything, and you can still rip on Protestants!

  • True dat!

  • ahaha, so true about the host!!

I'm becoming more agnostic/athiest but shall still consider myself always to be a Catholic!

  • It's so true. I'm a feckin Pantheist-Agnostic(Agnostic to Pantheism) and I'm still considered Catholic.

  • misschocolatemilk94_ how is ur dad a catholic preist?

  • the most adhesive religion in the world

    ''bad catholic''

  • There is an "opt out" website actually!

  • I'm an atheist whose Catholic mum married my Protestant dad in the Church of Scotland. Am I allowed to laugh?

  • You can laugh..but for no more than 1 minute every other Wednesday during the next leap year...

  • Yes.

  • Haha! Thank you, I waited a week for that..

  • down with catholicism! wooo!

  • Its sooo true! XD

  • my dad who is a catholic preist (dont ask very long story but its true) he found this funny and being a catholic myself this is funny if you dont find this funny your sad.

  • ur dad is a catholic preist.???

  • @misschocolatemilk94 lol your dad is not a priest, Priests must be celibate before they enter the Priesthood, and if they break those vows they are usually dismissed from their posts unless of course they paedophiles cos thats just fine and dandy within the catholic church

  • @iTzScadey100 He could be. It's rare, but it does happen.

I went to school with two girls whose Dad was a Catholic priest. He had been an Anglican priest, and wanted to convert to Catholicism. He also wanted to maintain his priestly faculties. Small problem...he was married and had two kids. He got a dispensation of some sort from the Vatican.

Had he converted and been ordained a Catholic priest before getting married, he would then have been asked to take the vow of celibacy

  • @AsksOneThing suppose, the catholic church don't care about the rules if an Anglican converts to Roman Catholicism,

  • @iTzScadey100 What kind of ridiculous comment is that? The Catholic Church is not going to bar someone from converting to Catholicism if they really do feel that Catholicism is right for them, and they desire to profess the faith of the Catholic Church. In this particular priest's case, his retaining his priestly faculties does not violate any aspect of Canon law or Church teaching.

  • I'm Catholic and a believer and I found this hilarious! People need to lighten the fuck up!

  • @EIRE32UUU For real. It's not like your eternal soul is on the line.

  • @EIRE32UUU If you truly were a Catholic, you would not use such foul language .

  • @StudentOfLife81

where's the foul language in this?

  • @StudentOfLife81

where's the foul language in this?

he says FECK that is not foul......feckless=useless.........

  • @StudentOfLife81 you've obviously not met Irish and Scottish priests. This is a quote from a lovely father who let my boxing club train in his hall. "A bunch of little bastards broke in last night and stole some things, if you find them, kindly kick the shit out of them".

  • so true, brillaint comedian

  • HAHAHAHA! I know exactly what he means about the communion, it took me the rest of mass to get it off the roof of my mouth!

  • Clearly, no one has a clue about Catholicism.

" In the end, the one's that carry the true word, will be persecuted"

  • The atheists?

  • Catholicism isn't so much a religion as a constant pervading sense of guilt.

  • it was only a joke!

  • LOL, i say I'm a catholic because I come from a catholic family. I don't believe in god or anything tho'

  • It was a joke! You know, implies that Catholics are not religious either!

  • yes it was a joke but it doesnt imply that catholics are not religious either!

its a joke of contradiction (so to speak), he an atheist but still a theist.

he allso expands on that by saying that once your a catholic your allways a catholic even if you dont believe in god, which basicly means... once your in you cant get out

hence all the talk about..... "even if you join the taliban your still a catholic, just a bad catholic"

  • Basically, once baptized, the Catholic Church will never consider you a "non-Catholic."

  • Well you could always get yourself excommunicated.

Protip: Try shitting in the Pope's hat.

  • Try knocking him over!

  • Catholicism is bloody hilarious =) And I am one lol!

  • Sooo true. If you've been born to a practising catholic family and had a catholic education, there is no way to pack catholosism in.

However, I do feel it may be different if you weren't born a catholic and had a dabble as an adult. Dara rocks. Such a bright guy!

  • Totally agree!

  • so im suppose to be a cannibal?! that's weird lol Rule Atheism :P

  • il stick to being an Atheist :)

  • yep! lol Bible doesn't mention that we have to be cannibals...=)

  • aww isn't that cute protistants an atheist hating on the catholics

  • i was a catholic you know

  • like it makes a difference... in the beginning protestants were catholics

  • well if you believe in it thats hilarious

  • Well nice to know what you believe. Although sorta insulting but whatever... good bye and GOD Bless

  • haha yeh! i agree i love this :D

  • Gahh this is so funny! :P
