We cut this in July of 1968 at C.P. McGregor .studio in L.A. Paul Williams and Roger Nichols brought us the song, and Roger is playing piano. Jimmy Faragher is singing lead. Strings and horns arranged by Chad Stuart. To find more information about the Peppermint Trolley Co., including music, photos, history, and interviews, visit the Official Site of Danny Faragher.

Casey lives in Arizona, and raises funds for progressive causes. For a time he made his living as an artist, selling his own pottery. Quite a unique and interesting guy. As a drummer, of course, he was really great in both the PTC and Bones.
This is celestial, but not completely airy. It's a cross between psychedelic and sweet '60s pop; the kind that would have been featured in a social or love scene of an Arkoff film. Psych-Out, The Trip, etc. Beautiful. The glory years of Cali at its best.
If you like the vocal harmonies of the Peppermint Trolley Co., you'll also dig the band that Danny and Jimmy Faragher went on to lead in the Seventies... The great Blue-Eyed Soul band - THE FARAGHER BROTHERS.
The songs are fantastic, and the singing is superb. Videos are posted
Admittedly, the subject of the song is light fare. But then again, it's a romantic love song, not social commentary. It was written by Paul Williams and Roger Nichols - the follow -up to the hit, "Baby You Come Rollin" Across my Mind". The PTC LP featured some songs with a darker side. Later, we changed our name to Bones, & recorded 2 more LPs, rocking a little harder. Still later, Jimmy & I formed the Faragher Bros. 4 LPs. First Blue -Eyed Soul band to appear on Soul Train.
I'm sorry, I think my commentary seemed a bit too sarcastic. In all honesty, I really am intrigued by this. Spinal Tap sort of warped me to the point that this video reminded me of the "Flower People" song in the movie. I am planning on buying the PTC CD at collector's Choice music.
JIMMY FARAGHER, the lead singer in the Peppermint Trolley Co. has posted a video of his song, "STOP THE WAR". It's from his exciting new musical about the Sixties, "ALL FALL DOWN". The video also features brother DANNY FARAGHER (PTC band mate), and sister PAMMY FARAGHER. CHECK IT OUT!
@plyg These were the original Peppermint Trolley Co. members. After they moved on to form a different band the record company hired other singers/musicians and kept the Peppermint Trolley Co. name.
My brother Jimmy Faragher is playing a fretless bass. I'm Danny (In red jacket). The two of us were in bands together for 17 yrs. The Mark Five, Peppermint T. Co., Bones, and Faragher Bros. We still work and record together. Released in 1968, the PTC album included an anti-war song called Fatal Falacy. Deja Vu all over again! Look for new song and video soon to be posted..."Stop The War" by Jimmy. It' a tune from a musical he's written, and it's a catchy rockin' song with a a timely message.
Wow...that's got to be one of the earliest uses of a fretless that I've ever seen! I always loved the sound of the PTC...such mellow and lush vocal harmonies.
This song reminds me of my youth which always makes me sentimental. I wish they still made music like this and the Cowsills and the Strawberry Alarm Clock and the Five Americans....etc.
The "Now People" do an excellent tribute to this PTC arrangement of Trust... They have a site on MySpace. Paul Williams was also the co-writer on this. This is still my favorite version though!!
I loved these guys..wow. Can't believe this is on here. What a rush, what happened to us , we were all so beautiful in our minds and hearts, now there's just Cash and Cruelty.
You said it, perfectly. I often wonder the same myself. At least this is a record of history that young people may look back on for inspiration. It could happen. Peace back.
HOT DAMN.i used to own the original vinyl LP of the album Bones featuring the hit "Roberta".
That Bones album is so flawlwess.Every track is a perfectly crafted pop masterpiece.
I used to carry it around the house wherever I went coz I loved that album so much. This was in the 90s when I was about 8 or 9.I actually found the album in my Dad's record collection,so technically he bought it in the 70s. Jimmy & Danny should be in the Rock & Hall, and Songwriters Hall of Fame.
toecutter, My btother Jimmy was playing a fretless bass at the time. He'd started as an acoustic bassist so he knew his way around the neck. It just appears as if there are no strings.
Your brother is jimmy faragher?I like the song but it appears as if there were no strings going over the neck into the tuner knobs of his fretless bass, not that it matters because they were shooting a video.
I believe superoldies has it in rotation along with other Peppermint Trolley cuts. Until the band's recordings are reissued, however, your best bet is to buy the Valiant 45 on line. It has shown up in the past. Thanks for your interest. - Danny
Who's the punk playing the flute? He looks strangely familiar. . . Seriously this is an excellent performance. Considering some of the tired, hackneyed material on the oldies stations, why did this slip into obscurity? Great job, Danny! Love the threads!
Blew my mind. Im new to You Tube. My son told me about this website. Just recently i wired in my record player to my computer so i could burn some discs. As i was going through my 45s "Baby You Come Rollin Across My Mind " came up played it and my son was hooked.Thats where You Tube comes in. Its great Thanks Danny for great music.
"Trust" was the PTC's follow-up to the hit,"Baby, You Come Rollin' Across My Mind", Spring '68. This is probably from a TV show in Cleveland. Members: Jimmy Faragher, bass & lead v., Danny Faragher, keys, fl. & v., Greg Tornquist,g. & v., and Casey Cunningham, drums. Originally from Redlands, CA., the band had moved to L.A. The PTC did indeed perform the Brady Bunch Theme. They also appeared on "The Bev Hillbillies", "Mannix", The D.O'Connor Show, and D. Clark's "Happening"
Glad to see you on here. I still have my original 45 of "Baby You Come Rollin' Across My Mind" and have listened to it with pleasure many times over the years. Such a wonderful masterpiece of late 60s pop. Thank you for the great music. And if anyone can post a video of it, I will be eternally grateful.
Do you know where I can get/hear "Lollipop Train"? I sure would love to hear it again. It would be the first time since 1966 when I plugged it on our campus radio station. You guys had a great sound!
Hello. I've been the biggest Peppermint Trolley Company fan for years. I'm always been alone with cause no one ever knew who the hell they were. This album is one of the most under rated pop albums of all time. Every song is GREAT!!! I've been trying to located the main members of this band, they were brothers. Little bit of trivia about this song, "Trust". You will never in your wildest imaginations guess who wrote it?
I'll respond back in a fews days to give you the answer.
My bro. Jimmy and I started the band. The PTC cut some singles, had a hit,an LP, then walked away from a rec contract because of creative differences with prod./manager. We changed our name to "Bones", put out two strong LPs. In '73 the band broke up. WE formed the Faragher Bros with Tommy and Davey and made 4 more LPs. 1st rec. is considered a classic. The ABC discs have been reissued on Sony, Japan. Delighted to see there are fans of the PTC out there.
THIS IS EXCELLENT! Where did you find it? Do you know if there were any other promos filmed by them? I'd love to see more. I've loved that album ever since I discovered it in the cellar of a long-defunct record store. How is it that this totally obscure video turned up, but yet the Lemon Pipers GREEN TAMBOURINE (which was such a big hit & which I also love) is so elusive???!
OMG!! This song just totally blew my mind away, thanks SO MUCH for posting it! I never heard of this band before this, I don't know what I've been missing.
a good song from the Redlands, CA band. Even better is their semi-hit "Baby You Come Rollin' Across My Mind."
