“Absolutely, it was an honour killing,” contends Fatah. “This is the fundamental issue here that no one wants to address. Nobody wants to tell Muslim men that women are not their possessions. It’s about women’s sexuality and men who say they own the franchise to it.”

Most Muslims in Canada would probably agree, at least from the Muslims I've been friends with here. On the flip side, no one ever seems to call their own religion out on shit, preferring to identify themselves as moderates and to claim that they're not the same as extremists, or that extremists aren't true _____s. This applies to every religion I can think of, barring Pagans, since they don't really carry much influence (despite the absurd number of them in Canada).

I wonder if Mclean's would post an article about the dangers of militant christianity? There's always going to be people offended if you take a negative approach to their faith; not even moderate muslims would appreciate such an article, because too many people confuse all muslims to be the same in ideology. When Anders Breveik set off a bomb in Oslo, it wasn't originally linked to him. Newspapers read that it was a terrorist attack, a few terrorist groups claimed that is was their handy work. That in itself is not an isolated incident. Bombs go off, planes crash, people are injured, any terrorist group (muslim or not) will try to use it to their advantage.

Islam’s purpose is to have everyone on earth live under Islamic rule and Islamic law, Sharia. The fact that this means destroying all non-Islamic societies and shedding vast amounts of blood is irrelevant. The command comes straight from Allah through Muhammad to the Koran and is non-negotiable, like everything else in the book. All other forms of government are seen as a sin and an insult to Allah and striving to institute Sharia worldwide is an Islamic imperative.
