The track is Atlas Nickel/ silver track, and outdoor proof. Its been out there in the yard for 6 years, and still works great! The sprinklers hit it twice a day, and it doesn't effect it on bit. At the start of every season I just go over it with a scotch brite pad on a drywall stick to get the bird doo off, and the rest of the time I use track cleaning cars in the consist. I also use air to operate the switches.
Your other post doesn't show up here, but some times I do like to spring the train on the unsuspecting. I have a large deck for a back porch, and I'll sit my guest down there, and use the remote with out them seeing me, and bring the train around over the pond, and into view. the look on their faces is priceless!
In your message, it said you use air to operate switches? What is there an pressure tube that mechanizes it, or some sort of windmill effect that moves it?
A company called Eazy air makes all the components for outdoor operation. Google
for the web site. Much better that trying to use electricity, and trying to keep the motors sealed from the weather. Small air ram cylinder, 1/4" tubing, a bank of air toggles, and a small cheap air compressor to make it work.
Before electricity, at stations, or rail yards, they used a flagpole with an arm on it that had a big red ball on a rope that could be raised, or lowered. Ball down, ment stop, pick up passengers, freight, or trian comming. When the ball was hoisted up to the top, that ment clear rail ahead, and to keep on going, at whatever track speed was posted for that section. Hence the phrase "high balling" or to "High Ball" ,ment to keep on going, get going, or just making good time.
FJandG: I bet your right. but more and more are finding out aren't they. NCSIL576: You know, now that you mention it, that works, doesn't it? I won't be able to view that video again, without hearing that in my head again.

You would think O Guage Could make an accurate Dome Lounge car, because Espee only had 3/4 length domes.

FJandG 5 years ago
Yes, Atlas track, 40" flex sections, all the way around. They're the only one that rates the track as "UV compatible.
wildbill7089 5 years ago
