LOL - Apple ( steve jobs still views everyone as buying a imac to just browse the internet, maybe chat, you know Ichat with your granny on the other side of the world. People don't buy the Imac to do software development _ Hell no Steve would say WELL if you a professional you should spend at least 2500 bucks and a mac pro. Sad but Steve is still stuck in the 1998.
The iMac shipped with a 4Gb HD in1998, My mom's MacBook from 2007 shipped with a 120Gb HD, and My MacBook Pro that I'm getting next week will come with a 500Gb HD
The 1998 iMac shipped with a 233MHz G3 Processor, my mom's MacBook shipped with an intel Core Duo processor at 1.86GHz, and my MacBook Pro will come with a 2.4GHz Core i5 Processor (turbo boosts up to 2.93GHz).
@MACOSXSL You're just flat out wrong. Internet explorer was once the BEST browser. The cream of the crop. That is how is gained pretty much 100% of the browser market. But then, once it got to the top, Microsoft stopped innovating, it became stagnant, then overcome by the other browsers. But for years Internet Explorer was the BEST.
@Melthornal IE did have market share. Netscape got fecked and MS took their foot of improving IE. Microsoft problem is they NOW know in last X number of years they have to develop to open standards - whereas in the past they tried to make product standards to their platforms. Safari & firefox great cross platform products - I have sometimes had to install firefox to download files to fix IE to get it working. browsers need to be unconnected to the OS they run on.
Wow - so much technology that Apple lead the way with - playing dvds on your computer, the dvd interface menu, the in built modem, introducing USB! Steve Jobs is God.
I don't even use Mac products but I love watching these old keynote speeches.

they didn't introduce USB, the internal modem, or playing DVDs on your computer.

They might not have technically introduced USB but they were a major driving force in getting the public to adopt it.
YinHoNg 3 years ago
@nagantm44 actually the iMac was one of the first machines to only offer USB, it was the first computer to get rid of SCSI and a floppy drive,
