  • That Universal Serial Bus sounds promising...

  • 4 GB Hard Drive.... That's how much RAM i've got on my iMac.... Stock!!!! Amazing to see how things have gone forward...

  • LOL - Apple ( steve jobs still views everyone as buying a imac to just browse the internet, maybe chat, you know Ichat with your granny on the other side of the world. People don't buy the Imac to do software development _ Hell no Steve would say WELL if you a professional you should spend at least 2500 bucks and a mac pro. Sad but Steve is still stuck in the 1998.

  • To think how crappy some of these features, specs seem today but how phenomenal they seemed back then....oh the memories lol

  • "I use IE and I like it" heheheheh

  • PG13. He must be amazing at parties.

  • 56k modem...those were the days.

The 1998 iMac shipped with a 233MHz G3 Processor, my mom's MacBook shipped with an intel Core Duo processor at 1.86GHz, and my MacBook Pro will come with a 2.4GHz Core i5 Processor (turbo boosts up to 2.93GHz).

    My, how times change!

  • 04:00 he said kick ass. i never heard him say a bad word before!!

  • Safari > IE , definitely now. Commented from a Windows machine.

  • holy crap 32MB of ram? and 4GB of storage??! what am i ever going to do with all that speed and storage?

  • @meikamo It might be equivalent to like 4 gigz of ram and 500 GB HDD back then :P

  • omg mdk miss it

  • <3 Apple | Steve Jobs | Jonathan Ives | Phil Schiller | Bernard Serley , awesome people ! :D

  • I love Steve Jobs, he will me missed when he is gone.

  • 56k modem??? Wooooooooaaahhhh

  • IE is garbage today!

  • @d1995a3 Lol Firefox kicks ass!

  • @d1995a3 IE was ALWAYS garbage. Safari, chrome and firefox are FAR better.

  • @MACOSXSL You're just flat out wrong. Internet explorer was once the BEST browser. The cream of the crop. That is how is gained pretty much 100% of the browser market. But then, once it got to the top, Microsoft stopped innovating, it became stagnant, then overcome by the other browsers. But for years Internet Explorer was the BEST.

  • @Melthornal IE did have market share. Netscape got fecked and MS took their foot of improving IE. Microsoft problem is they NOW know in last X number of years they have to develop to open standards - whereas in the past they tried to make product standards to their platforms. Safari & firefox great cross platform products - I have sometimes had to install firefox to download files to fix IE to get it working. browsers need to be unconnected to the OS they run on.

  • @d1995a3 it was always garbage.

  • Steve! Remember....."Choice is good!"

  • im 14 and its amazing to see just how much technology has advanced from then to 2009!

  • @hiyaitsmejoel1 lmfao exact same for me :P im also 14 :O

  • Steve Jobs : "I use IE and i like it, I think it is the best browser out there !" :O

  • Well yeah that's when Apple didn't have Safari. XD

  • It was the best Browser out there...at this time, nobody else had anything better...

  • Webkit FTW

  • @blueantenna Webkit did not exist at this time...

  • It was USB V1 though

  • Wait, USB was NEW back then?

  • dude it 11 yrs ago tho

  • True, 1998 just looks so recent.

  • ROFL!! A 33.6 Kb modem, haha, i remember that crap!

  • 8:10 He liked IE--and he stood up for it

  • In 1998. Now IE is a true pile of shit.

  • what other browser were their?

  • NETSCAPE.

  • I used Netscape Navigator at the time. It sucked. MSN was another choice I believe.

  • Wow, he said kick-ass 4:01

  • 100Mbit ethernet in a consumer machine was imba back then.

  • You can really see Jobs hitting his stride with these early keynotes. Thanks for sharing.

  • Macs were always pricey :P

  • "Great keyboard and mouse, not a cheesy one, GREAT keyboard and mouse."

LOL, also, don't you think that when he says:

"I use IE and I like it"

sounds very much like "I kissed a girl and I liked it!"

None the less, not his most epic keynote, but still, Steve rocks very much.

  • @felixgv - haha more like "I kissed IE and I liked it"

  • You watch Apple is well on its way back!

  • 56k modem. gotta love history :)

  • $1299 is pretty amazing considering the year and what you got in the box

  • BS he used IE lol :D.

  • He uses IE!

    Sure things changed since then!!

  • did steve just say kick-ass???? on 4:01-4:02?????

  • I didn't believe it.

    Steve rocks!!!!

  • Wow - so much technology that Apple lead the way with - playing dvds on your computer, the dvd interface menu, the in built modem, introducing USB! Steve Jobs is God.

  • amen

  • they didn't introduce USB, the internal modem, or playing DVDs on your computer.

  • They might not have technically introduced USB but they were a major driving force in getting the public to adopt it.

  • @nagantm44 actually the iMac was one of the first machines to only offer USB, it was the first computer to get rid of SCSI and a floppy drive,

  • @macnerd93 great, thats not introducing USB, the internal modem, or playing DVDs on your computer.

  • @YinHoNg and once again, stop drinking the koolaid

they didn't introduce USB, the internal modem, or playing DVDs on your computer.
