  • O_o your models has so many triangles...

  • Thanks a lot. I found this method easier and closer to detail :) You can choose whatever method you like; I always had problems with shaping the boxes correctly :) Cheers

  • i <3 you

  • I will forward this to the horse. :D <3

  • What's the realtime you've spent making this?

  • Comment removed

  • quite good for the first try. But you should make it thicker, now it seems like a very old horse. In addition to that, the head is a bit deformed, try to use harder edges and some loopcuts.

  • can u make a tutoriol

  • Great stuff... I'm going to give this a try! If I even have a tenth of a sixteenth of the skills you have, I'm going to impress some people too! I have to sub now!

  • I'm just going to ask you ....how did you do this! I mean I'm a beggener at this ... I don't know how to even save a pic and make it 3d

  • Check some tuts, it's possible to learn that quick <:) Alot of modeling is exactly that: opening a picture and "making it 3D" but it's sometimes very tricky :D

  • how long did it take?

  • good question. Hmm when I thin back it might have been 1-2 hrs. Man it's hard to remember xD

  • what song is this?

  • Hi, listed in the end.

  • how long did it just take to learn all that?!

  • What's there where the animation program?

  • how do you create a single isolated point?

  • @StarlightSummers to create a box go to "add" in the upper left corner, and go to mesh - box.

to create a face just select 2 edges and press F.

  • thats an very very interesting modelling technique you got there, never seen anything like it before, it looks extremely interesting!

you model extremely well and plan your model greatly!

i can see you use more than 2 references aswell, which is just great!seems you added a little bit too much on the legs though, thats just from my side of view, for a later to be high poly model tha would be fine, but as i model for games, my eyes hurt when you add so much detail into the legs.

    Great job though

  • @Quikie93 I also see you use triangles for most of the model, and then sub-d it, which isnt good. you should when subdividing ALWAYS work in quads, as it will give a much better flow and smoother appearence. Also, quads are generarily easier to controle. So you should always keep it in quads, and then, if necessary convert to tris.

for pictures and movies, always quads, ALWAYS.

for games, tris, but model in quads, then convert.

hope i somewhat helped and that i dont seem to harsh ^^

  • Oh thank you, I checked this video again because someone commented, and I feel nostalgic about the time when I modeled *sigh*. I miss that. Thanks for the tip, are you a professional? Cheers

  • @accuratesheep no iam not a proffesional x) also may also add a sidenote, since iam here, tris can infact work well sometimes.. but they should be avoided if possible lol^_^ anyway, good luck with your modelling :)

  • lol thats the exact picture i used, can you plz give me the model, ive tried and tried again for hours on a horse but i just fail miserably

  • Dude, when you are creating your geometry or are planning to add more base model, you do it well thourough and thought through, but you have -no- muscle definition a -LOL the horse just said "comment"- Ah, yeah, no muscle definition, not even a cut line so you can extrude out some faces. Muscle definition is -the- only way to make realistic animals<3 Just saying since you obviously control the tools well enough so no need to be lazy!

  • @LasseLundster That's what I call a good and constructive comment, mate. You hear that over and over again: "This video is very old [...]" and yes, it is, and If I'd say I could do better now, I would lie. I didn't really continue 3D Modeling since then, and that's a pity if I think 'bout that.

Please show me that an animal with "muscle definition" looks better.

    Cheers, Frank

  • @accuratesheep Here's a link, I made this in around 15 minutes but I gotta get my ass to work now.. I will upload a car I made from work (cg) a LONG time ago but it shows why edgeloops and chamfering edges is crucial but here's the horse:

    img191.imageshack.us/img191/5979/withandwithoutmuslces.jpg

Also, I would of COURSE make muscles in mudbox (or zbrush for those who prefer it) just google zbrush horse anotomy or human! Hope I helped

  • Awesomeness! lol

  • awesome!!! it must have taken you forever to do all that !! id sit there for 5 mins then be like "okay im done" lol

  • you're amazing... i have a question... how do you separate in two parts the screen i have problems with that... I'm a beginner and you know beginner are with troubles...

please tell how do you do that..

    cool video!!!

  • very professional video ;)

  • thanks for the video

  • Hey i was wondering why you made so many triangles. I heard from almost everyone that you need to avoid them but you made so many. Do the triangles help in any way? I just started blender a month ago.

    Thanks alot

  • Oh man! That was cool! I'm going to have a go at a horse model now :) Rigging will be a challenge, I've not done a quadruped before...

  • how did you did the horse, and the picture and the anamations?!

  • exelent

    !

  • where do you get this program, how do you do that, could you make a tutorial, could you send me those pictures?

  • Hey =) The program is called Blender, it's free to download at blender[]org.

How I do that? Well, in 3D would be the best

    answer, I presume ;)

Yes, I could :D make a tutorial, but on what do you want me to do one? :D If you want to learn 3D Modeling basicly, I'd suggest you watching tutorials of super3boy and others. I'll have a look if I can find these pictures, put I will probably make some better Renders for you though!

  • @accuratesheep How do you change from lines to solids??

  • well you mean how I create faces I guess? If you have TWO or THREE (not more or less) "lines" selected press f to create a face. of course the lines must be joint together, in 3D you work with triangles.

If you want to know how I change from solid draw mode to wireframe simply press "z" in edit mode.

    Hope it helped.

  • very nice lowpoly horse! :D

  • I have a couple questions :o

well first I'll say this is awesome >D! my questions are: where do you get stock images? I have a hard time finding anything 8[ and 2: most the work I've done in blender is "sculpt mode" just increase the multres for more points.. do you know of any (or could make any would be awesume :o) tutorials on a style like yours?

  • Where did you get the blueprint from?

  • gonna send you the link since I can't obstacleless post links in comments.

  • ok...it seems really complicated... How long did you worked at this model in realtime ?

  • it was about 2 and a half hours. isnt even complicated if you know what you're doing :)

  • und englisch trainierts auch... :)

  • So siehts aus... Erstmal denkt man auf Youtube ist alles erst mal Enlisch :-)

Aber gibts nicht auch eine Version von Blender auf Deutsch ?

  • nice....

  • ok... interessant :)
