  • for sylviatube...The song, I believe, is a version of The Mystic's Dream by Loreena McKennitt, her version is longer but it is a beautiful song...feel free to correct me, but I am pretty sure of it! Blessed Be my friends!

  • If Wicca is so healing, why do followers look dark , brooding and inwardly not at peace or at least not really happy??

  • It is true that Pagan/Druidry as been around long before Chirstianity, and to say that is has not...is absolutely ignorant. The video was not saying that Wicca as been around that long, as a matter of fact it stated that it is a modern form of an ancient religion. I am a descendent and I do today call myself a Wiccan however my mother and her mother call themselves Pagan's. As for influences, my teachings have been passed down from generation to generation and is by far not a FAD!

  • I would like to know the name of this song.

  • You sound almost like "Carrie's" mother from Stephen King. Did you ever stop to think where Christmas or Easter originated from? Both originated from PAGAN YES PAGAN celebrations. YULE and OSTARA. Paganism came thousands of years BEFORE Christianity. Christians Borrowed alot of the Beliefs from Pagans. By the way. Wiccans DO NOT believe in Satan. Satan came about when Christianity did. Do some research before you post negative things on stuff you have NO CLUE on.

  • that is not true, firestepher72 Christmas is was just placed on December 25 by monks, and easter is the celebration of Jesus's resurrection, placed in the time it is because it is 1 week after passover because he was in fact killed 1 week after passover

  • THIS was so BEAUTIFULLY done! Kudos!

  • Okay, you want hard facts? It's my understanding that (and I could be mistaken) Gardenarian Wicca started in the 1940's as an offshoot of the Cretona Fellowship, but more structured and solidified and incorporating additional elements of Stregheria and British Occultism (many of which orders branched off or imitated the Golden Dawn, which was started by the Freemasons). Cretona, in turn was started by Masonic Rosicutians, which are Co-Freemasons, but incorporating elements of Druidism,

  • Qabbala, Christian Mysticism and Egyptian reconstructionist Paganism. Gerald Gardener is believed by some to have "invented" the New Forest Coven and Old Dorothy as a way of covering up the connection to the Masonic orders. (Later, Dorothy Clutterbuck was believed to be the true identity of Old Dorothy, but there is little evidence to support this.) Wicca also adopted some elements from the Margaret Murray thesis, which perported that a single Old Religion existed throughout Europe in the

  • Middle Ages, but was wiped out by the Christians. Historical evedence shows this to be invalid. There were, in fact, many Pagan religions throughout Europe (though many contained common elements) which were supplanted by Christianity. However, the religion described by Murray was based largely on Christian mythology about the practices of alleged Satanic witches. Almost all of those executed for practicing this form of witchcraft were only falsely accused, so there is no reason to think that

  • these types of witches ever existed. Most modern Wiccans have dropped the Burning Times elements from their beliefs. As for the development of modern Wicca, the Gardenarian tradition produced several branch traditions (such as Saxon), and inspired immitators (such as Georgian). Alex Sanders, whose influences are largely unknown, but was probably inspired by paths such as Golden Dawn and Thelema, adopted a mostly Wiccan tradition, and combined many of his own methods with those of Gardnerer.

  • Wicca was basically initiation-only for a time. But with books put out on Seax, the rise in popularity of neo-paganism in the 1970's, and the influence of Gavin Frost in the U.S., more and more ecclectic/solitary practitioners began to emerge. From this, more "liberal" forms of Wicca were formed including Faerie paths, and Wiccan traditions were themselves incorporated into other "alternative" or New Age paths such as Otherkin, Mi'nerwen, Vampirism and even some Unitarian churches.

  • Also in the 1970's, Anton LeVey founded the Chruch of Satan, which incorporated elements of "inverted" Wicca to go along with its "inverted" Catholicism. By the end of the 20th century, the rise of the internet created a surge of interest in Wicca, particularly from young people, causing witchcraft to become "fashionable." This was further fueled by "popular" witches such as Silver Ravenwolf and Fiona Horne. Naturally, younger practitioners leads to more "liberal" practices,

  • and Wicca becomes less structured. Also, teenage rebellion and arrogance leads to Wicca being misapplied as not so much a spiritual awakening, as an excuse to bash Christianity. Older, more traditional Wiccans have responded by making greater attempts to educate young people about the true meaning of Wicca. This will probably have the side-effect of removing some of the mystery surrounding Wicca and turn it into "just another religion" in the eyes of outsiders.

  • What exactly does an gothling holding a plaster skull have to do with what Wicca is about?

  • The skull was considered the place where the soul dwelled in a variety of cultures. As Wicca is a nature faith that honors the sacred dead, our ancestors, it is entirely appropriate.

  • Ancient Celts also used the scull to represent life & the soul. The problem with people seeing the Skull as "Goth" or evil is that they are so set into the Christinized worlds we live in. They cannot see that other cultures are in no way connected to Christianity.

  • Wicca is not Celtic. It is not ancient. It is not Druidic. Margaret Murray's "Old Religion" theory has been debunked for over 20 years. Wicca is a 20th century faith with older pagan influences. I recommend "The Triumph of the Moon" by Ronald Hutton for an extensively researched, documented look at the history, origins and misconceptions about the evolution of Wicca.

  • You are right. But it contains influences of all that, there is no doubt about it.

  • It isn't ancient, but it is an offshoot and more modern version of an ancient agricultural faith practice.

  • Very true. Some might argue that Wicca is "ancient" because it incorporates ancient elements. But that's like saying that Christianity has been around 5000 years because it incorporates elements of Judaism. (I've always wondered why people feel the need to validate their beliefs by exaggerating their age, as if ancient people were somehow smarter than the rest of us.)

  • Think about it Christianity & Judaism have books and no physical proof. Ancient Pagans (not wiccans) have physical proof but nothing was written down. I say we are about even in the validity department! LOL

  • I Think you did an outstanding job, Masterful creation, every young witch and pagan awakening to their true talent should see this. Blessings in you endeavors my friend. )0(

  • Great work! The music is so good with it, I just love Loreena McKennitt! Thank you very much for posting it! Blessed Be!

    )o(

  • Where did it give history? i didn't see any dates. I also didn't see any facts except that Christian's killed pagans. What you failed to mention is how you get from the ancient Druids to modern Wicca. Please if you are going to claim to give a brief history use dates, facts, and maybe do some research so you can inform people instead of giving them empty words. It becomes very hard for someone new to Wicca to defend themselves if they have no facts.

  • Anyone new to wicca is doing their homework because they already have a gift and inately understands their path, please dont talk trash young one....There are more of us than you think...Alot more.. )0(

  • Numbers make no difference. As i said in my other comment, Where was the history? The facts? or any actual info. I also do not view asking for facts and history as talking trash. Just because someone is interested in Wicca does not mean they have done any research or are on a path.

  • I see you already have alot to learn about wicca, its about inner knowledge and having a real gift, which obviously you have none or would understand my statement. Maybe you should join a coven with that view and see how long it lasts..I promise you curiosity seekers are not welcome, you people do more harm than good and with no real gift, why bother?

  • Covens are over rated. Solitary ftw.

  • Well, I would be REALLY REALLY ashamed of myself if I was interested in Wicca, but was even too lazy to research a bit. Such are not needed in Wicca, who can drop Wicca like a boring toy.

  • I agree. Wicca has become a "fad" religion in recent years, which makes it a little harder for outsiders to take the rest of us seriously. Unfortunately, a lot of Wiccans are so over-eager to welcome new members that we've kind of lowered our expectations of them. I think we need to let interested (especially young) people know that there's real work involved, that Wicca cannot be just a fashion accessory.

  • surely, you're right, thanks for your comment. I, myself is new to Wicca, but I see how hard it is, and don't claim to have super-super talent in magic just after learning it for one month, like lot of newbies do:(. People should understand that it's not satanic, but not even a wonder, just pure knowledge and peace with the long-forgotten harmony of nature.

  • That's valid.

  • I find it so funny that when people start asking for dates and facts that you give poor rating on their comments. It is really funny when people get so full of themselves and think they know something when they obviously do not. I myself have studied Magick and been on my path for 20 years or so. So you calling me young one is really a very funny statement. So as i said, i am waiting for someone to post a video or even a comment showing some facts or dates or Real history.

  • Most of what i find while researching the history of Wicca points to the fact that it started in the last century. Nothing else suggests that it has been around before that. It does seem to draw inspiration from ancient rituals and druidic beliefs. The claim that it was in hiding for a while to avoid persecution seems convoluted. I would really appreciate someone intelligent to give Wicca a good name and a good image and show a little bit of fact or history. Thanks.

  • Highly informative and beautiful video ! Many thanks...It should be seen to all who are ignorant about Wicca.

    Walk in Love and Light

    )O(

  • Between coven-goers who look down on the eclectics and the Christians who keep telling us Wicca is the religion of the devil, it's hard to keep this faith sometimes. Sometimes, you have to read up on your history, sometimes you have to ignore it completely. Still, this was very nice in that it would tell someone new what they needed to know, and yet inspire them to look up more on it. Thanks for posting. =)

  • This is exactly the intention I had in posting this... Just to show people the old religions are still active and here's a little peek... the rest, most surely would have to be self ingested.

  • Its
