Lucky enough for him my aunt and I were able to save him from himself. At 20 he got his GED and is now in college. He wanted to learn more about his people so I told him to take some African studies courses. He is 22 now and on his way.

I am actually middle eastern studying here in NYC and before this I never heard of this "eurocentric" education. Last time I checked, engineering, mathematics and etc. are the same no matter where it is taught. The only thing that can be considered eurocentric is certain history and poly sci subjects which are subjective depending on who lectures it.
But then again, there aren't really that many job opportunities with those 2 studies mentioned above. I am just curious to know though, if I study engineering from a "afrocentric" or "sinocentric" institution, is the material different? lol Does each race teach these subjects differently? You have not said in what sense they are different or limited, and I have studied in 2 different civilizations and have attended many seminars and training around the globe and the common material that we use to learn the engineering or mathematics is the same all around. Lucky enough for him my aunt and I were able to save him from himself. At 20 he got his GED and is now in college. He wanted to learn more about his people so I told him to take some African studies courses. He is 22 now and on his way.

I laughed when that girl blaqueindigo and a few other israelites talked about "eurocentric" education. I am actually middle eastern studying here in NYC and before this I never heard of this "eurocentric" education. Last time I checked, engineering, mathematics and etc. are the same no matter where it is taught. The only thing that can be considered eurocentric is certain history and poly sci subjects which are subjective depending on who lectures it.

I am just curious to know though, if I study engineering from a "afrocentric" or "sinocentric" institution, is the material different? lol Does each race teach these subjects differently? Actually the math and sciences that we are taught in Western society is limited. There are other deminsions which are not even touched. Why do you think the ancient civilizations were so advanced in all of their methods. We are obviously missing the big picture! The diffence has to do with the mind capacity and spiritual levels which cannot be taught in schools. This goes beyond Eurocentric Education!

You have not said in what sense they are different or limited, and I have studied in 2 different civilizations and have attended many seminars and training around the globe and the common material that we use to learn the engineering or mathematics is the same all around. Are you telling me that if I study electrical engineering in Africa as oppose to China, that they're different because one is sinocentric? In regards to Science, Math, Communications and etc. the material is the same.

It doesn't matter where it's taught. There's no such thing as a eurocentric, sinocentric, afrocentric and etc, unless if you're talking about certain subjects which are taught subjectively such as poly sci or history. Many from around the world come to the West to earn those higher standards level of education. If it's limited in one civilization as you've said, then each civilization has its limits and that's why studying abroad in the West is very common and use it as a sharing of innovation.

When people talk about Eurocentric Education,It has to do with the brainwashing of our natural intelligence which africans once had. Studies show that African children are born with a higher IQ which outweighs that of Europeans and Asians. Our children have become dumbed down by the American standard of learning. I understand where the other side is coming from. I don't think they are trying to use it as an excuse to not get a degree (correct me if I'm wrong)

And speaking of the immigrants, I have seen how hard some of the Asain students work to get their degrees and it puts us to shame. Some of them literrally have only gotten off the plane and have few possessions, yet they are focused on their studies and pull down high GPAs. If we (myself included) stopped complaining about what is wrong with society and bust our butts like other do, we could be further ahead.

Thank you for this J! Math and Science are as colorblind as a subject can get and they are the keys to success in this world. The way I look at it, there is absolutely no reason for anyone not to get an education. Education is the great equalizer and so many black people are choosing to keep themselves out of the race to succeed by using the *eurocentric* argument.
