Thanks you used the older Stuff from COB not recently done stuff.

The old neoclassical sound of COB was nice. Because of that i wanted to learn sweep.

But to be honest Wintersun is more mature than COB. The lyrics are better and the guitar is just opion based. But i really like it more than the new COB stuff. The old COB stuff still great but for me Jari is my hero. That's why i like them more. His solos. i can identify with him. I'm not saying anyones better or something ;)

Ok, here's the deal: They're both fantastic. But MY personal opinion is that Wintersun has a much more original and polished tone- CoB always sounds a bit choppy and cliche. Jari has a very powerful and innovative style, sort of prog-death-power-speed sound- which I believe wikipedia classifies as "extreme metal". However in the end it's just a matter of opinion.

Listen to them again and recognise the intricate structures beneath the actual solo, it's not just music but simply a work of art. hahah, this is too funny. how can there even be a discussion about who's more skilled? any person with a good ear can hear that alexi misses notes, something that jari never does. jari's guitar playing is close to immaculate, he is almost as tight as a programmed computer. but when jari does miss, he is only off by miliseconds, while alexi misses notes completely. yes, even in studio recordings. anyone who says alexi is more technically skilled than jari is not a good guitar player.

Something that no one mentions is that Jari has been through a lot of difficult times in his childhood,and you can hear it in the music.It has true emotions and the lyrics are fantastic.Alexi had a happy childhood and all this "Hatecrew" crap is stupid.His lyrics don't make sense at all.Though both,Alexi and Jari excellent guitar players.

I'm not normally one to pull that 'its just an opinion bullshit', however, when the discussion regards guitar player of such high caliber glory, choosing one's favourite is ultimately determined by quality of the artists' composition; I personally hold Jari in higher regard not for his sheer skill, but because he didn't sell out and become a complete emo douche like Alexi did. Thusly I would never recommend Blooddrunk or Relentless Reckless Forever to a fan of quality metal. Disagree or dont.

Add in Jari's solos from Ensiferum and this is a no-brainer. Laiho's solos are too entrenched in music theory, very Malmsteen-like. His sweeps are too limited by the chords that play underneath the rhythm. Jari's solos are definitely more melodic - I believe he writes the solos and then constructs the riffs underneath, which gives a much higher degree of freedom.

I hate it when people disregard Alexi's skill because Bodom went mainstream. Fact is, Alexi is revolutional. He's one of the pioneers of Finnish Melodic Death Metal, composing masterpieces inspired by Classical Gods such as Bach. Sure everything after Follow the Reaper was mediocre, but don't forget the stuff he did from Something Wild, Hatebreeder, and Follow the Reaper.

I love Wintersun and old Bodom equally, both in terms of solos and music. I prefer Wintersun a lot more now, because they haven't strayed down the more traditional metal route that Bodom have with thrashier riffs and less guitar/keyboard melody. Saying that, the first four Bodom albums were all unstoppable, and Wintersun only made one fantastic album before keeping us waiting seven years for their next one. So in my mind, they both win and are amazing bands.

Just gonna toss a point out there, Alexi's solos are from 3 different albums on here, Jari's are all from one. That could sound like a good point for Jari, but I'd like to see how far his creativity will go in his albums to come. If he can keep it up, then good on him. I think when it comes down to it, Alexi would be able to outplay Jari on the guitar, just not by a whole lot. However, Jari's vocals are MUCH better and he provides amazing clean vocals as well. In my opinion, Jari is a much more well rounded musician. I believe he is capable of more than Alexi in writing his music. I love COB and Wintersun but Jari is my favorite musician of all time.

Not only Does Alexi write incredibly difficult solos, more often than not, the keyboardist plays the exact same thing, or plays a harmonized solo.

That takes a hell of a lot more time and effort to compose and synchronize.

NOT at all saying he is a bad guitarist. When comparing to jari, JARI is superior. The reason?
