Beautiful song! The singer is the great Italian singer Ornella Vanoni. Too bad that this song was not included in any of her numerous albums.

The beginning of the song reminds me of another tune - I'm sure that the Israelis will figure it out :-)

It is rather arrogant for me to translate Leonardo. Traduttore tradittore, say the Italians. (Translator traitor). Moreover, the text has its own code (pun intended) Therefore I am giving here only a literal (literary?) translation, a transliteration if you wish. Hence:

As the lover moves towards the object of his love

like the sense and the sensibility

Magnifico lo sceneggiato e magistralmente interpretato- Lunedi scorso ero ad Anchiano (Vinci - Firenze) e ho rivisto la casa natale del Genio Leonardo: mi sono trovato a canticchiare dopo tanto tempo questa canzone ed ero immerso nel 1400......Un silenzio ed un cielo terso che mi facevano sentire ancora più vicino a lui.
