  • your right!

  • The fire destroyed a lot of beautiful buildings.

The pic at 3:16 of the trolley tracks is insane! Talk about not being pedestrian friendly! What kind of poor planning is that?

The Gardiner Expressway ruined the lakeshore area.

  • very beautiful city

  • lol why Hilary Duff???? WHY?!?!!?!?

  • great Job...love the pics...are most from the Toronto Archives?

  • Looking at the CN Tower makes me wanna puke. That's a freaking tall tower lol.

  • nice job

  • Thanks for the vid

I actually like the song, although it's a guilty pleasure :)

  • Bad music...Cityscapes and diary rock doesn;t really fit...unless you r 12 i guess? I just turned the music off though! Some of those pictures looked like a war went on...anyone want to inform me?

Nice to see some old photos though and it would have been more informational had they been in chronological order.

  • it was a fire that destroyed downtown toronto in the early 1900s

  • Thanks! I didn't know. Must have been a devastating one!

  • FireShorts, the TTC abandoned its streetcar abandonment policy in 1972, because of public opposition.

    NOT in the 80s/90s.

  • Amazing job!! Really enjoyed this.

  • Straight from Wikipedia:

"When Europeans first arrived at the site of present-day Toronto, the vicinity was inhabited by the Huron tribes, who by then had displaced the Iroquois tribes that occupied the region for centuries before c. 1500. The name Toronto is likely derived from the Iroquois word tkaronto, meaning "place where trees stand in the water".[22] It refers to the northern end of what is now Lake Simcoe, where the Huron had planted tree saplings to corral fish."

  • Yep, the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) has realized in recent years that their choice to keep them was incredibly smart, and they have actually placed an order for hundreds more new low floor streetcars to replace the aging fleet. They have also added routes over the years and plan to add more.

As the years go by, it just made more sense. Especially with the climate change topic that is becoming so much more frequent.

  • Streetcars have always been around in Toronto. In the late 80's/early '90s, they were nearly killed off but public opposition saved them.

  • some good pictures, would have been better if they were in chronological order ie last section with the building of the CN tower. The music let it down though, just didn't fit.

  • i live in Toronto and love history, especially when I don't have to do any reading. Thanks for the post, but yeah, you couldn't find ANY music that said "Toronto" better than THIS? Anyway, thanks again.

  • imagine purchasing real-estate in toronto core area 70 years ago (which was not entirely impossible)....

imagine how much it be worth today?

  • Dont make me cry...today the average person can't even buy a pot to piss in in the Core...

  • It's great but bad music choice...

  • lol i thought it got messed. :)
