david miller is so fukin cheap! he cant even tell the cons. workers to build new skyscrapers good thing he is quiting!! U no theres 9 new skyscrapers building in toronto
check the guy @ 5:15 ,,, I guess they knew they were going to be apart of something big while they were building the CN tower!!!! Look it how high up he is...... CRAZY!!
Bad music...Cityscapes and diary rock doesn;t really fit...unless you r 12 i guess? I just turned the music off though! Some of those pictures looked like a war went on...anyone want to inform me?
Nice to see some old photos though and it would have been more informational had they been in chronological order.
"When Europeans first arrived at the site of present-day Toronto, the vicinity was inhabited by the Huron tribes, who by then had displaced the Iroquois tribes that occupied the region for centuries before c. 1500. The name Toronto is likely derived from the Iroquois word tkaronto, meaning "place where trees stand in the water".[22] It refers to the northern end of what is now Lake Simcoe, where the Huron had planted tree saplings to corral fish."
Yep, the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) has realized in recent years that their choice to keep them was incredibly smart, and they have actually placed an order for hundreds more new low floor streetcars to replace the aging fleet. They have also added routes over the years and plan to add more.
As the years go by, it just made more sense. Especially with the climate change topic that is becoming so much more frequent.
some good pictures, would have been better if they were in chronological order ie last section with the building of the CN tower. The music let it down though, just didn't fit.
i live in Toronto and love history, especially when I don't have to do any reading. Thanks for the post, but yeah, you couldn't find ANY music that said "Toronto" better than THIS? Anyway, thanks again.

The fire destroyed a lot of beautiful buildings.
The pic at 3:16 of the trolley tracks is insane! Talk about not being pedestrian friendly! What kind of poor planning is that?
The Gardiner Expressway ruined the lakeshore area.

FireShorts, the TTC abandoned its streetcar abandonment policy in 1972, because of public opposition.
NOT in the 80s/90s.

Streetcars have always been around in Toronto. In the late 80's/early '90s, they were nearly killed off but public opposition saved them.
